I'll stick with the Honduran David Suazo, he's due in to speak with City.

Or

West Ham also have a twenty year old South American coming in.

Link Cavani On His Way To England?

More I think about it, it has to be c. :D

Good choices there mate.. defo two more to add to a growing list of possibles.. wth is with us brits and south americans atm.. :)

Edit The more I think of it the less it can be Sauzo.. he is too good for us lol.. but why Man city not seen the links for him to ManC

Cavani.. hmm.. I hope not he scores less than 1 in 4 even if he has a good reputation..

Joaquim looks great on Youtube. I know its a 'best of' but he at least shows skill, pace & excitement to a top international level. Hope we sign him.

What big players did Hughes bring in???. I don't count Roque when we signed him. Best I can think of is Bellamy but that was personal from Wales.

Santa Cruz and Benni were big players. Santa Cruz was huge in South America and was a favourite in the Bundesliga up until the last year or so before he left. Benni again was a regular for Porto so you can hardly say that they werent big names before they came here. Bellamy was not on the same radar as those two.

Joaquin would be a massive coup however. But i think its at best unlikely.

Both were well known name as you mention, but Hughes was a small factor in attracting them. Especially Benni had tried to get a move for a couple of years and had nearly signed for West Ham the season before.

Roque came with a name, but a injury list and poor goalscoring record which scared of most team. Leaving us as one of the few options.

Bellamy was probably down to Hughes mostly, but the clause tainted that one a bit. Still, he was very good for us.

But the main point is that manager is such a small part in a tranfer. It's all about the money, then a little bit on the club's standard.

"And Roque did NOT come for a trial first. He was signed from Bayern Munich for a fee."

Based on Nicko's logic in that, our potential triallist would be coming in on a free. Combined with the time zones comment it's someone from a few hours behind us or a lot of hours ahead, since Nicko can't get confirmation until later on. He's coming in to talk to someone else and if that doesn't happen then he comes to us - keep your eyes open for a South American coming to talk to another Prem team about a free transfer.

South American+Time Zone+Free Transfer= Santiago Solari ?

And that Cavani is class. good future.

And never mind the free part.. he said short trial..

The kind of player who comes in on a trial like that is likely to either be free or a cheap "hot prospect" from a small club in a small country. Certainly closer to free transfer than the Saviolas and Militos being suggested in this thread, surely.

i thought about it being milito earlier on, then i told myself it wouldnt be him as he's a class act and wouldnt fancy a trial. but then again apparently he is a target for everton so he would possibly be in the area. hes not in the olympic squad though so not sure about the time zone hint.

May as well throw my 2 cents worth in too. Have to agree with Milito, for me, he appers to meet Nicko's criteria. Can't see us paying the kind of money they are looking though (reportedly £14m for a 29 year old). All will hopefully some become clear though, when our very own Nicko-damus makes his entrance.

Why would Milito agree to a trial?

Too low you mean. Apparently he is one of the most overated youngsters ever and doesnt justify the shedload of money he has got so far...

really?

First Bradley, now Adu...
