Joaquin is a tad expensive but with his pace, trickery and crossing I could cope with that price.

A tad expensive IMO no he is cheap at that price with a point to prove he is the kind of guy to change a game.. he isnt quick but has a lightening 0-20 in my books.. he can cross and ways in with a few goals a season..

Perfect for us.. and will make us all smile a hell of a lot more than certain guys at the 6mil bracket.

TRAINING GAME...Villanueva looked the part...Tigay played...not sure Robbie Fowler did...WHAT is going on there?

did Vogel play Nicko..

The trialist striker in at West Ham has NOT been named yet...he is a good one...but that should be out in the morning.

There is a chance for Rovers on this one as politics may cock it up at West Ham

Can I use that expression?

I dont like neither of the links.. Piny is there atm as well mate.. ex inter milan player available on a free from hearts.. on a free due to being worse than saha and kewell for being injured.. :(

I hope its neither at 12mil euros Cav is not that good to say the least.. 40 games 7 goals say it all..

We all seem to want Joaquin. If it depends on Ince or JW I hope it means something. The guy is world class. Olic is quite same than Pavliuychenko. Running like a horse and can score 15-20 goals. And tough enough for EPL. Couldn´t see much better more partner for RSC.

At 5m he is a steal.. who was that you know at BR again Nicko?

Edit was talking about olic there..

Fair enough, we will see what comes out tomorrow.

Dont think we need any new players for the next two games the current squad should win againts grimsby and hull, hope it does get sorted out before the 31st, even before the west ham game, as i dont like going into transfer deadline day needing a few players.

but tonite i can sleep easy.

also the price of Joaquin, olic, andrews and Robinson(1 million) comes to around what we suspected was the transfer budget ~ £20million.

Looks like ince is getting backed by the board

Olic looks great and could definitely be a good option, Joaquin would be an interesting one, I remember hearing a lot about him in the past and have seen him play a handful of times but it does seem he has been out of form, could be a bit of a gamble for £10 million or so, perhaps worth it though, every player is a gamble to some degree.

I couldn't find the Benni thread so here will have to do.

Went to Australia-South Africa tonight at Loftus Road and I spoke to Benni after. You can read the full story on Setanta tomorrow but basically he knows Sunderland are interested and if he's not starting for Rovers then he'd like to go. Which is fair enough.

Also met Vince Grella before the game and it seems reports of his signing are a little premature. He's says there's no official contact from either Fulham or Blackburn but he would be interested in a move if either made a bid.

Woy Hodgson was at the game and, perhaps wisely, wouldn't comment when I asked him about Grella. Think Fulham's his more likely destination if you ask me but he's not a bad player and could do a job for Rovers.

Incidentally Benni's performance tonight was incredible. I've honestly never seen a player move less. I could count on one hand the times he broke into a sprint.

I would LOVE to see us sign Joaquin at the quoted price (£11m including extras) - but would be amazed if we did. We're in the business of buying world-class strikers for around £3m, and have been reluctant to "splash the cash" over the past few years.

Hopefully Ince can change this - That offer for Joaquin can't be improved, we have the finances, and we need someone QUALITY on the right hand side. Pennant for £6m or Joaquin for £9m? It's laughable to even discuss. Joaquin would be a significant step up from David Bentley, and that HAS to be what we're striving for.

This is - of course - also dependent on Joaquin wanting to join us, and - as someone posted earlier - La Liga guru Guillem Balague doesn't think he wants to.

Pure idiotism.

Damn man I like your style but you are wrong here..

RSC 3.75m Cav 9.75m... similar goal ratio at that age.. who would you choose..

Remember so far only WHU are interested at those prices.. lol

... maybe a nice gamble if you like russian roulette.. personally I stear clear of that type of game.

But then again Cav is available on loan with no option.. worth a punt yes.. but long term... hmmm..

Well at least he is better than Pinny.. not sure if better is the right wording.. at least he does not have glass legs like pinny..

Funny - Reports from Australia suggest Benni had an assist on the first SA goal and was instrumental in the buildup to the second. Must have been a very efficient performance. My point: I don't care how lazy he LOOKS. He has always been that way, and yet he's managed a European Cup with Porto (for which he was a big contributor) and been runner-up for the Golden Boot with us. Those who want to run him out of town are on the wrong side on this one. He and Rocky were never given a serious chance to gel last year.

You're quite right. Benni's backheel set up the first goal and another backheel set up a cross for the second but there was zip effort from him tonight.

I like Benni a lot and I think if you're as talented as he is you can often get away with it but tonight he was taking the ######.

Joaquin, not for that money. Maybe try a loan with a buy clause. He has probably lost it.

Pinilla, NO!!

Cavani, haven't seen him.

Cardozo, his release clause is 50 million €. way out of our reach.

Saviola, ridiculous wages. No, thanks.

Olic, good signing for that price and maybe we can sell Roberts to compensate.

Midfielder, I still think we need a class act and no Andrews.

Nicko, could it be Luis Garcia from Espanol? Benfica are trying to buy him for 10 million €.

How about Sergio Garcia from Zaragoza???

Don't know anything about him, but he plays a mean round of golf supposedly.

I don't think 11m is enough for Joaquin actually, I know he's completely unproven in the Prem but I think we should offer around 21m.

For heavens sake.

Maybe Hughes moving on was the best thing to happen in regard to our youth development.

That's not really fair, nor correct. Granted, Hughes didn't really encourage youth to grow into the first team picture that much - apart from Judge back end last season, others in odd cup or Euro games or maybe Derbs. However, he DID buy into the proposed overhaul of the Academy focus for the next few years - which clearly Ince is looking to continue.

I'm glad about the ressy manager, they lost a good guy in Hodges (was he ever confirmed as the new City ressy manager?) and it's good he's linking up with Bowyer (sp) - who had a good record at Derby bringing youth through.

The club have committed to increase the amount of British talent over the next few seasons Academy wise, with the view of becoming like Boro, where they often bring through Academy lads into the first team and save on transfer fees. Next season should bring another couple of names into the first-team/squad frame that will always be nice to see.
