RibbleValleyRover Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 Anyone slightly worried we are looking at big/strong good in the air strikers? Don't we have that already with Roque? The pessimist in me is slightly concerned that we are looking at strikers with similar attributes to Roque, i would have thought if we sold Benni we would be looking at a pacey replacement.
ricsipontaz Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 I saw this video of Pinto: He is egotist in many situations and his shoot ability isn't perfect.
Hughesy Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 Seems to me that we are just looking for new options, something to refresh the squad. Roberts is big and strong, but just doesnt score enough goals. Like the sound of this Pinto guy, but looks like West Ham already have the deal in the bag maybe?! Nicko - Any more news on yesterdays friendly? Did Villanueva look class or just ordinary? What was the goal like? No more news on midfield and right wing?
philipl Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 Anyone slightly worried we are looking at big/strong good in the air strikers? Don't we have that already with Roque? The pessimist in me is slightly concerned that we are looking at strikers with similar attributes to Roque, i would have thought if we sold Benni we would be looking at a pacey replacement. Isn't Olic pacey? He is the guy Rovers seem to have been quoted a price of £5M for according to nicko and something is moving on. I get the impression this Pinto offer of a trial is opportunism which will only happen if WHam foul up. Hughesy, to save you the effort of clicking on the link just a few posts above your's, Carlos scored with a blistering drive from outside the area apparently. Go to the nicko newsticker for all the news you could wish for- that's why it gets updated.
Hughesy Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 Apparently Blackpool are interested in a loan move for Derbyshire - maybe the reason we are considering t o hijack the move for Pinto?
rover6 Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 We need Derbs on the bench. Send Fowler on loan.
philipl Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 We need Derbs on the bench. Send Fowler on loan. Have we actually signed Fowler yet?
Majiball Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 Anyone slightly worried we are looking at big/strong good in the air strikers? Don't we have that already with Roque? The pessimist in me is slightly concerned that we are looking at strikers with similar attributes to Roque, i would have thought if we sold Benni we would be looking at a pacey replacement. Guess it depends on the pairings if RSC and Roberts are first choice then should Benni leave, then Pinto may back up RSC and Derb's, Roberts. I notice Fowler is yet to sign???, strange I would have thought that would be done and sorted by now. I highly doubt Ince would consider loaning Derb's out, he's the quickest forward we have at the moment. There will be significant news on Benni McCarthy later...need this to keep for the morning. Even this early in the day. Bye Benni, thanks for season 1, I hope the pies are too your liking in the north west.
nicko Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 That article is one of the most badly written pieces i've ever seen. Also didn't Nicko say that Fowler DIDN'T feature? Fowler might have played, my source only got a sneaky look at the game for a few minutes...and didn't notice him. Not many more details unfortunately. There will be significant news on Benni McCarthy later...need this to keep for the morning. Even this early in the day.
JohnS Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 Nicko, There seems to be a lack of rumours for a lot of clubs could it be due to the fact that players are on international duty. Also people who go on about Milner not being worth 9Million, he was outstanding for the U21's last night. Do you think Man City will sell any players before the window closes, as its obvious there suffering financially, otherwise they won't be able to sell any assets until next January.
nicko Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 There will be significant news on Benni McCarthy later...need this to keep for the morning. Even this early in the day. Before there is widespread panic/rejoicing, I should stress that the chances of Benni going to Sunderland are now very slim. The reason for that will have to wait a few hours.
LDRover Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 Before there is widespread panic/rejoicing, I should stress that the chances of Benni going to Sunderland are now very slim. The reason for that will have to wait a few hours. Because they've signed Olic?
Valois Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 Before there is widespread panic/rejoicing, I should stress that the chances of Benni going to Sunderland are now very slim. The reason for that will have to wait a few hours. Because he is going to Galatasary?? I would rather Olic, or even Campbell from man utd, could be availble for around £5million.
vintageadidas Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 Arn't they signing David Healy from Fulham.
Bobby G Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 I knew when nicko wrote it that it meant benni wouldn't be leaving...not to sunderland or anyone!please tell me it has nothing to do with a huge bid for roque and we will cave in??????
bubblerrovers Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 Has benni Injured himself or hurt his leg due to extra weight
Hughesy Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 Healy to Sunderland and maybe someone else that is cheaper than Benni? Oh well, knew it was too good to be true!
bob fleming Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 Before there is widespread panic/rejoicing, I should stress that the chances of Benni going to Sunderland are now very slim. Is that because at this moment in time Benni isn't very slim?
Ste B Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 Benni .....slim. The reason for that will have to wait a few hours. Not any more. Not that I've got room to talk.
dellinsert Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 Before there is widespread panic/rejoicing, I should stress that the chances of Benni going to Sunderland are now very slim. The reason for that will have to wait a few hours. Fowler isn't signing after all?
callumrovers Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 How has he manged to put on so much weight? Maybe we should give him a few weeks intensive training on his own, that should sort him out!
donis1410 Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 benni looked quite good in yesterdays game and so did that grella for the aussies, did ne1 see the goal he set up?
herbergeehh Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 Great little flick. I want to keep Benni, if nothing else to keep the core of senior players at the club this new season. 9 million pounds would be great business though, or 6 for that matter. He'd probably score twenty his first season at Sunderland though..
Cocker Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 What surprises me about the Benni situation is that Everton have not shown an interest. They are desperate for players. They have the money from the Johnson sale and they were looking at Benni before (I think) we were. I think its obvious that for the right money Benni is on his way - and I must say I am not that bothered.
