Valois Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 That Gabby relies to much on pace comment is a little odd to be honest, yes he is quick but take another look at that hat-trick at his finishing. One header, one left-foot and one-right he has more to his game than pace. As for RSC v Carew both are in my view very different players, I'm not going to try and tell you guys what sort of player RSC is I wouldn't be so insulting. But for me RSC is a much better finisher on the beck than Carew while Carew perhaps is a little more mobile in terms of pace. Both are excellent at linking play and playing with their back to goal. Who is better? no question RSC scored more last season but Carew is vital in our team set up style of play. (I'm not here to wind you guys up or cause trouble, just here to talk football) This is a BRFC site, not a Villa site. Why would you even be on here?

TrentVilla Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 Nicko, have we shown any interest in Michael Kightly again? From what I've heard he has been playing pretty well. Not sure they would sell though. Knightly is quality. I've seen him play a number of times, just a matter of time until he makes the step up.
Veevs Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 Cant see us signing Joaquin. Possibly down to the money they are asking. They think we are an English club and they KNOW we pay over the odds for over-rated English players, so they will try to squeeze as much out... I am sure by looking at our transfer history they will know we are not a typical English club lol.. who is our record signing to date?

I just don't think 12M euro is over the odds, pace, power, dribbling, crossing, I could go on (sorry I watch alot of spainish football). He has more in his locker than Bentley, given we sold him for £17M, £10M for someone in his prime does not seem that extravigant. Personaly I'd meet the fee, and start convincing the player before someone else steals a march on him. He is a match winner.

And worth every penny of that fee in my opinion, I'd be happy if we were linked with him. He would be a great signing for Rovers.
Nate Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 Great pass by Grella for the first Australian goal. And I wouldn't mind seeing "Jesus" Kennedy in a Rovers shirt, either.
LeChuck Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 Djibril Cisse has just signed for Sunderland on a season's loan. That must be why Nicko hinted the Benni deal is off. Shame, I'd be happy £4 million or so for him, I hope we're not really trying to hold out for £8/9m.
RevidgeBlue Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 £10M for someone in his prime does not seem that extravigant. It would be a lot better value if he were twenty three or four and not twenty seven.
roverfanuk Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 I bet Cisse is dreading coming back to Ewood...
laughatthedingles Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 Nicko, Martin Lipton/Lupton?? chief football reporter in your rag, should we therefore assume most of his stories are accurate thus be worried about RSC to spuds?

Bobby G Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 Sunderland has a good team on paper, at least midfield onwards, definitely a team that can/should stay up comfortably, although they could use one or two defenders!
bats Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 Nicko, are Rovers in talks with Valencia still regarding Joaquin?
philipl Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 Great pass by Grella for the first Australian goal. And I wouldn't mind seeing "Jesus" Kennedy in a Rovers shirt, either. That McCarthy looks completely different class on there. Who does he play for? Let's get him signed up for Rovers...
DeadlyDirk Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 Let's sign that South African keeper Sunderland are reportedly interested, they want £3 million for him so Roy 'Double' Keane has offered 6 million.
modes98 Posted August 20, 2008 Author Posted August 20, 2008 Don't fancy him...something to do with what he was like at Liverpool when most of the Rovers staff were there. and maybe the fans signing how's your leg over and over. Until he broke it again! Never rated him that highly tbh.
Ninja Boi Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 Because I'm a football fan not just a Villa fan and I find it interesting to talk about the game with people who support other teams. well said. I am a Villa fan but I also live near Blackburn and have a love of this part of the country and so take an interest in all the north west footie. I actually enjoy reading this board more than some of the Villa ones!!
Majiball Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 It would be a lot better value if he were twenty three or four and not twenty seven. I do see your point, really do. Barry - 18M Bentley - 17M Johnson - 11M? It doesn't sound that bad, when compared to the above. It would be one of the biggest signings in our history, the other options and prices have us all split pennant 6M. He would still have that kind of value in two, maybe three years time provided he plays well. Surely a signing like him would encourage more bums on seats and our profile in europe would get a huge boost. Plus he's quick with and without the ball, and when he's running with the ball its close to him not knocked in front like most he has wicked close ball control.
CrazyIvan Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 http://www.premiershiplatest.com/news/ever...-h-5513210.html Is this a rehash of old news again Nicko, or is there a chance that someone will actually move for Bradley?
