To be fair he did also say that "no one leaves unless I want to sell them" so if he wants to sell Benni then he wouldn't be going back on his word. However he has since mentioned McCarthy by name as someone he doesn't so then again...

Look, the fact we have thouroughly scouted Ollic shows that we are countenencing selling Benni should the right money come in. I don't think ince sees it as an issuee of pride, but an issue of making the squad better.

A certain someone from Wolves?

Do you have any updates regarding the Hungarian lad and Jordi Lopez?

Cheers.

Still to decide on Hungarian kid, who spent a few days at the club and has now gone back.

I've not even chased the Lopez thing. With that CV I can't see what he would bring to the party.

Amaze me how people take that statement word for word so serious. My understanding is at that point of time when clubs trying to bid/unsettle our better players(Santa, Warnock) thinking were a sinking ship. Ince make a stance that were not a 'selling' club and will sell only on our own terms. If i'm not wrong too I saw the Skysports it says is first team players and not all players.

I'm not sure why the Villa interest is coming from after Carew played such an imp role for them last season and to the best of my knowledge has recently signed a 3 year contract.

He is their only decent out and out striker. If he is injured they are screwed. The likes of Ablanghor and Young need someone to play off.

They must know they won't get Cruz though? Why are thye bothering? Waste of their time.

To wind Ince up even more.? Unsettle the squad? Try and damage our chances of Europe even before they have started?

That doesn't seem very Martin O'Neill or Randy Lerner like. I think they must believe they genuinely have a chance of getting him, maybe they were encouraged by the media reports of unrest and players wanting to leave. I'm sure they'll turn their attentions to someone like Zigic when they realise Santa Cruz isn't going anywhere.

Edit: Maduro is a very good player Oklahoma, he's definitely the sort of player we should be looking at for the midfield. Much more physical than Grella, he'd bring height to the centre which I feel we miss without Mokoena in there. Only 23 as well...a double deal for him and Joaquin would be brilliant. I mean, it'll never happen, but it would be great.

"I can't have any complaints – Jason was awesome at Everton and I can't see the reason why he should be taken out of the starting line-up and obviously Roque's fantastic as well, he's scoring goals.

"Those two deserve to play but, if I can't get in the team then, yes, I would want the move."

Well put from Benni, I expected him to be complaining in that article, but there's not a hint of it. He knows he's not worthy of a starting place here at the moment, so has conceded he might have to look elsewhere. There are some other nice quotes in there too, but that one stood out for me.

Not much to add from yesterday...

ROQUE - Man City phoney baloney 'bid' is now dead. What a surprise? Wait until you see who they drag in instead. Laters, as the man said. Villa won't go to the money needed. Move on.

New to the board,Hello to all,Not having a go here nicko you have been spot on on most things but unless you speak to Randy Lerner or martin o`neill you don`t know that as they personaly make decisions on transfers at villa,No director of football etc etc.

And if santa cruz fancies challenging for the champions league spots, playing in europe and getting payed silly money then he all of a sudden might want to move,And if blackburn get a silly offer which makes them a huge profit they might fancy it aswell,They have to think about the buisness side buisness after all.

Anyway Time will tell.

Personally I don't really have a problem with that. He is clearly not really up for fighting for a place, he is out of shape, wants to move on. Roque is the main man at Rovers and that is who we shape our team around, not Benni. In a way it is a shame because I can see McCarthy scoring a hatful with Kenwyne Jones to do the running and win the ball for him. But we need a team of players who 1) want to fight to be in the starting XI 2) can actually play together.

THe only way selling him could backfire on us is if Roque gets injured and suddenly we would be able to reconfigure the team to suit McCarthy's style. But then someone like Ollic just appears to offer so much more allround that him and Roberts up front, or Ollic and Villanueva would be decent enough.

I take it your a Villa fan?

We have sold one player for 17 million this season who we are struggling to replace. We won't see another one unless we have a better one lined up. Absolutely no way.

There is nothing to suggest Villa have a better team than us at present so the whole "step up" idea doesn't hold water.

I will eat all the hats in London if Cruz turns up at Villa.

Yes but Villa is a sideways move. Ask Gareth Barry - he wants Champions League so is leaving Villa. Last year an udnerpar Rovers and resurgent Villa where about the same. I thought our finest 45 minutes was against Villa at home and WE could have been 4-0 up. Away we missed a penalty (for a win arguably) and honours where even or very slightly Villa.

When your settled, only money will make you move sideways. And with what the players are saying behind the scenes at Rovers, I think we believe we could finish above Villa comfortbly, especially if Barry goes. Too much a one man team.

I hate Villa, their fans have been tossers in my experience, but if they did break the top 4 oligarchy I would appreciate their achievements. Put it this way, I'd rather Villa got into the top 4 than Spurs. However, if they want Roque, then we should set a price of £25m+. If Berbatov is worth that sort of cash, then someone who scores goals throughout the season is worth that too.

Interested to see who these other right wingers are. I guess Pennant is one of them.

Bulls**t. Pure Benni bashing. That isn't him saying he isn't up for fighting, but he is 31 years old and has a great career and obviously feels that he needs to actually be playing. I think everyone can respect that. If he sees a realistic chance of being in the first 11 then he's happy to stay, if he's viewed as a sub then he'd obviously prefer to be elsewhere. I think his comments are very good.

Hello.

It takes more than two to tango in this job. Players, agents and people at other clubs who have recieved tentative enquiries all have big gobs when it suits.

Hi,

the thing I take from that, is that you focus on the football side of your club. So explain to me, why would Rovers, who exist simply to put a football team on the park [no dividends to pay, no expectations from investors], want to take your money?

Simple question for you. BTW, I don't think you're anywhere near challenging for a champs league spot, realistically do you?
