PINTO - The big Chilean striker is here. Had a row with West Ham which meant that he wallked out. Have to see how he does, but the reports are good. The only snag is - do Rovers need another striker at this time?

Any club that has Robbie Fowler in the first team squad obviously needs a striker. Whether we need some temperamental and openly stroppy Carlos Kickaball is another matter.

Nicko why?? Why leave that little Comment at the end? It worries me too much does this thing. Someone bloody close the window!!

You have to be realistic. Man U may get fed up with Berbatov and try a bid. That is the ONLY possible way that Roque would leave in my view.

The other clubs won't offer enough and Roque would not kick up a fuss for a sideways move.

If Fergie called I would be very concerned. You can't discount that. He IS a very good player.

Nicko,

Do you think Rovers are looking to settle their dealings in the market in the next few days or do you think they're waiting it out 'til the last day when decent prices can be agreed by those desperate to sell?

Also, as the window counts down to closing, any chance we may sneak in annan for a small fee?

Cheers :D

I think Annan is going to Rosenborg Trondheim. But I gave up on that one about two weeks ago...as did Rovers.

It's not like you to stereotype...

But you should know that Pinto was flown in by West Ham with the promise of a four-year deal and then found out the manager didn't want him.

After a 10,000 mile trip I think he is entitled to be peeved.

He got on a train and headed north-west.

I would applaud that rather than give him some cliched tag.

But that's just me.

Nicko.

The lack of signings only goes to show that Ince, has waited to get everything up and running.

I imagine that the staff involved, are putting in some serious overtime on the current targets.

With the exception of Brad & Bentley, he has operated in what is about half the actual window available.

Full credit to all of them.

If they can pull off Joaquin, IMO it would be the biggest named signing in the 40 odd years I have followed them.

Excited, you can say that again, but if it all falls flat, at least I will still have the memory of, we once tried to sign a guy called Joaquin, you no the Spanish International winger. :D

I actually applaud that, he's obviously keen to listen to what we have to say. Just on a side note, sounds a bit like Ince with Castillo

Always remember when 'Joekeane' was being touted as the spanish sensation that this asssessment was a little excessive having watched him on Tv thought he was overrated, as hes done nothing in the last two seasons though with his age he should now be entering his peak playing years.

Can Rovers improve and rescue him or not, a toughie?

:( Please not Pinto.. even on youtube he looks more likely to hit sunnyhurst woods rather than the back of the net and that was from 6 yards..

And was the west ham deal not meant to be £5m for an unknown striker who has scored 20 goals in his long career of 50 (only 3 appearances at his latest club) games.. has had no european interest bar West Ham whos manager (because he was not even warned by his director of football Nani who set it up) rejected him even before he touched a ball.. and has had one game for chile in a non official match..

Ok calm down veevs.. he is probably on trial for a couple of days.. and if he gets a visa (providing he does not have some dodgy family connection) my name is jeffrey archer..

Yeh of course, it would be pretty annoying. Let's just hope it's not like Castillo again and he thinks his trial at Blackburn is a contract as well!!

Just a few points to make regarding some recent nicko talk and a few old ones.

With RSC its' pretty simple, we all know how good he is and unfortunately unless you're Chelsea everyone has his price, it could be £20m, could even be £30m, I'm still pretty confident that he is staying but if Man Utd come sniffing then money can talk and we have to be worried. We have sold Bentley though so if JW and co have any sense they would make sure it had to be silly money to let him go. On the plus side, RSC himself has said he is happy to stay.

He won't be bothered about moving to Villa or Spurs if they get the Berbatov money, it's easier to say no to the small clubs without upsetting Roque, Man Utd is a slightly different story though.

I find it funny that the majority on here was slating Ince for not signing Castillo who has since gone and not been mentioned again in an transfer rumours as far as I'm aware. Then followed by an either bigger slating for not signing Annan, even though most people have never seen him play. Oh what a fool Ince was, it now looks as though he is off to the mighty Rosenborg!

Sounds like the Joaquin deal could happen if they are short of money, just depends on how high we will go, I'd be surprised if we broke our transfer record at the moment for him. (What is our transfer record by the way ;)) Might be worth looking at a few other players, Albeda is he still there?

RSC is too good for Villa and City as his next move. When he does leave Rovers it should be for either the top 4 of this league or a top European club now he has proved how good he is.

He was at a "top European club" with Bayern Munich and it didnt work out for him. We all know how good RSC is but whatever his next move is, he's got to remain a first team regular and not become a squad rotation player again.

£5 million seems a bit steep for a player with one cap for Chile but giving him a trial can't be a bad thing. I'd rather we look for a quick striker who complements RSC better though.

Was hoping for some other news than the recirculated Andrews story. Time is running out and in my opinion we need a couple of faces to walk straight into the starting 11, January may come too late.
