On Pinto - the opportunity for a trial arose and it would be silly to ignore it. It's another player training with the squad, hardly a major drain, and a good chance to get a close up look at someoe.

On Benni - it seems clear to me that Ince rates him higher than we do, because I would have taken Sunderlands arm off for £7 million. If players like Olic are available it seems difficult to figure out why the manager prefers Benni (except maybe that he's here already). But he does, and we know Benni can be good, so I guess I can put up with it.

Sounds like Joaquin is going to be the main thread of interest for the next week. Andrews and Fowler seem to be falling apart thank god but i dont care if Joaquin signs.

Not too concerned over RSC. would take a monster bid to take him and Man Utd prob realise that they could get a decent player for less.

McCarthy is a decent player. I rate him easily above Roberts still. We know he can perform at prem level which is more than can be said for many of the strikers going around these days.

Because we've already sold key players. Because Benni has shown that he can be a great striker in this league in the right system. Sell him and try and replace him with a player capable of scoring 20ish goals in a season...probably won't do it.

He was at a "top European club" with Bayern Munich and it didnt work out for him. We all know how good RSC is but whatever his next move is, he's got to remain a first team regular and not become a squad rotation player again.

Wholly agree. I think this could be just the reason Roque appears so content at the moment. After all his unrealised potential at Bayern, he's now banging in goals for a team in the top half of the EPL and must be the first name on the team sheet. Tha fans love him, the media love him and crikey...even the girls love him.

I think he's currently enjoying his moment in the spotlight. Maybe he's considering a year or two more here and then leaving for a bigger club (not similar) if and when they do come in for him.

Well evidentley he didn't end up going there so don't know how reliable the articles are, especially because I couldn't read one! But hey there's no smoke without fire so good chance they were at least looking at him so must have shown some potential. Definitetly worth looking at him during the trial and then let Ince make up his mind.

Ince obviously wants another striker, hence having Fowler around so long, could be that we look to get Pinto in on loan instead of Fowler perhaps.

:( Please not Pinto.. even on youtube he looks more likely to hit sunnyhurst woods rather than the back of the net and that was from 6 yards..

And was the west ham deal not meant to be £5m for an unknown striker who has scored 20 goals in his long career of 50 (only 3 appearances at his latest club) games.. has had no european interest bar West Ham whos manager (because he was not even warned by his director of football Nani who set it up) rejected him even before he touched a ball.. and has had one game for chile in a non official match..

Ok calm down veevs.. he is probably on trial for a couple of days.. and if he gets a visa (providing he does not have some dodgy family connection) my name is jeffrey archer..

He (Pinto) doesnt look that impressive on Youtube but theres no harm in giving the lad a go, though Olic looks to be the proven one.

Happens all the time mate... I know you will doubt me but I am one of the idiots behind writing the software that the agencies use.. IMG to name one because I did not have an NDA with them so they can't sue my arse..

Its all about perception, and not fact.. they track the progress of a player (work out if he has certain attributes), promote him, offer a player on a trial or the like, throw in media interest for future sales potential (interviews with dads are the favourite)... if he can impress for a week (they limit the time) then he signs they sit back get a percentage of the wage and transfer and hey presto they made a fortune for the cost of an admin person, the agent on commision and someone like me to write the software to monitor it... the risk is he fails the trial but then they just wait repackage and retry if they feel his has an outside chance...

OK so trial might not hurt.. but if he does impress in given timeframes..

FFS Youtube can be useful but dont take everything you see on there so serious. He could be crap, he could be class. Usually Real Madrid only take an interest in good players/

Hopefully the lad will sign for us

He was due to play for their B team though, which is basically like signing him and loaning him to Burnley :P

Roque

Benni

Roberts

Derbs

Cruz Jnr- Early days but wouldn't surprise me if he features, maybe as a sub in the cups.

Fowler- Possibly...?

Rigters

Do we really need another striker?

If Benni, Roberts or Rigters goes or Fowler doesn't sign then it may be prudent to bring someone else in, but if none of our strikers goes whats the point of bringing another in?

There are other areas we need to strengthen, defensive midfield and right wing for example.

i would take pinto over fowler anytime, but if we do we would have to loan derbs out.. i don't like that a player of great potential like him only get a few minutes every other game.

Well for me as much as i like Derbyshire i do think this season is make or break for him.If he doesn`t break into the first team on a regular basis this season i`m afraid he will be just like Paul Gallagher,a good player at championship level but not good enough for the top half of the premiership.

And sadly i think it will be the latter.

I just hope he proves me wrong.

i would love to see curbisley's face if we sign this player and he turn out to be a signing in the santa cruz division:D

Me too..

He just scares me based on statistics (us techies like that) and promotional material..

take the timing.. video on youtube released 7 months ago (by his agents, and you can look them up they did not hide the agency name).. 6 months ago he almost signed for Real madrid reserves.. 6 months ago news paper articles from people including his dad promoted him.. then he disappears. to resurface as a 5m rated player formerly linked with Real Madrid..

But after all I said.. the agency has to feel that the kid has an outside chance to start with (hense my comments about attributes.. in Pinto's case it is strength, height and a little speed)..

So who knows but players can impress on their first outing if given a set timeframe..

To be fair bacup blue, i dont think anyone can compare Matty to Paul... Derbs is quality, and needs to be given a few games upfront as apposed to RM...

I cant stand it when people judge players on their ability when they have spent most the only viewable games played out of position. Bit like people who are judging Michael Bradley on his performances for the USA. He plays a defensive midfield role for the USA, but his best position is like Dunn's at the moment, and attacking central role...

I think to a certain extent, Derbs is very underated. Its just unfortunate (for him) that Roberts and Cruz seem to be working so well together upfront!

Heaven help us. For a few years the internet looked like a good thing. Then the idiots get hold of it.

I hope you are not meaning me with that one.. I just do what I am asked to do for every dodgy company going (telecoms, govenment, pharma, sports agents.. ).. I am no fool but if I did not write is someone else would.. as for the companies themselves.. what do you think most of the internet is about?

Nicko, where did City find £6m for Kompany? Was it down the back of Frank's sofa or are there impending outgoings?

Probably part of the 25m advanced loan on TV earnings.. but puts them in a real risky situation unless...

Curious who knows the FA rules on someone being classified as unfit to own/run a club? do they loose points (as per insolvency ruling) as such will City need to invest to make sure they survive given a points loss to make sure they pay back the loans (i.e. survive in the league)?
