joey_big_nose Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 Im encoruaged about Joaquin. Sounds like we are the only people serious and Valencia want to sell. We can force down the price and get a Cruz/McCarthy/Bellamy type player who is clearly extremely talented but come off the boil. Very hopeful about this one. If Pinto is a loan then there is a strong argument for why not? Would make far more sense than Fowler. Also if we offload McCarthy and Pinto looks the business we can divert the McCarthy money into central midfield. I still fancy the pace of Ollic though, he is more proven, and perhpas Pinto is a little too similar to Roberts?

RevidgeBlue Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 Benni is also in today's Lancashire Telegraph saying that he should be allowed to leave. Although 9 or 10m would have been nicer, I really really hope we didn't turn down 7m for him. How can he expect to be seriously considered for first team selection when he can't even be arsed to get himself in reasonable physical shape?
Veevs Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 Anyways we are slowly going off topic.. wonder where Nicko is today? Any news mr Nicko.. Joaquin? Lopez? Grella? Fowler? Andrews? Olic? Zigic? McBennies? I presume the Maduro link was a nonsense?
Oklahoma Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 Yep and thats one of the reasons why our TV revenue is so high.. you get fans from all over the world watching their favourite football players, and the best league going.. wonder if we have many fans in Norway given we have Pederson in our side.. With MGP case I don't know but I know Rovers gained many South American supporters when Roque signed for us. Pinto's agents are Vision Factory, the same as Villanueva. I presume the Maduro link was a nonsense? I mentioned here that he was transfer listed in Valencia and asked if he would be any good for us, someone responded he would be and later it was in the news. Coincidence?

I guess the why not in my opinion is that would mean we drop our interest in certain other strikers (Olic being my favourite).. ..as for being like roberts.. Yep defo Roberts probably bangs them in for fun in training but in a match his shooting is awful.. there are allot of players like that and this Pinto looks like one of them, we need someone to put in with a few goals a season.
Eddie Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 Pinto's agents are Vision Factory, the same as Villanueva. There's the rub.
alexanders Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 I can give an answer on the Pedersen issue. I think he has recruited some supporters, but these are mostly guys and girls under the age of 18 yrs.
hawkiiz Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 i think Berg helped rovers gain norwegians more than gamst. also during his last stint with the club. gamst is not that popular to be honest. but every now and then i do see a rovers kit stolling around oslo. i never saw anyone earlier He's definately been at the club and definately been offered a contract. how ironic is that? rovers want fowler, and he snubs us
Lurid Coat Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 but every now and then i do see a rovers kit stolling around oslo. i never saw anyone earlier You'll find about 10 of us at O'Reilly's Irish pub at Grünerløkka whenever there's a Rovers match on I can't see that this has been posted before, but I believe that this Kompany is somewhat limited. Did you really need to go public with your feelings about him?
Majiball Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 I'm not 100% sure but I believe that both players belonged to a private company, not Santos. Probably MSI. So they didn't profit that much. They did profit when they sold Robinho to Real Madrid. Corinthians perhaps benefitted, my bad it was not Santos. Mate... I take it you remember the saga with Tevez and Mascherano.. both owned by MSI not Santos.. great work in the transfer market there by Santos Robinho, Diego, Renato, Leo and Elano all products of there youth system in recent years, selling those was not bad business. Tevez and MAscherano came from Coriniathans not Santos, guess we are both wrong. Your also missing the point with the transfer funds, Man utd last year spent 70M, it all went to Porto, Sporting and Bayern none of it was retained within our league. Because of inflated prices in this country we spend our money outside of it, thus strenghing the european clubs and not each other. We may have the best league in the world with the most money, but we very quickly move that money outside of our league, in large quantities. A lack of funds being exchanged between our own clubs will only eventually weaken our own clubs. Remember Italian football?
roverfanuk Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 i think Berg helped rovers gain norwegians more than gamst. also during his last stint with the club. gamst is not that popular to be honest. Wasn't Gamst voted more popular then Norways Royalty a year or 2 back?
den Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 Wasn't Gamst voted more popular then Norways Royalty a year or 2 back? He was by me.
roverfanuk Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 Here you go... Brilliant video of his goal against Luton, but listen to whats said at the end of the video: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=tkfIOKX8R3g
briansol Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 Wasn't Gamst voted more popular then Norways Royalty a year or 2 back? No, that was actually regarding how often his named was searched for on the internet. His popularity in Norway has decreased after several poor showings for the national team. People are asking how can he play so well for his club team, and so bad for the national team? I tell them the truth, he doesn't play for Rovers, it's just media hype.
alexanders Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 I tell them the truth as well, but I think he may reach his old form this year. Last season everything had to go through Bents and Gamst wasn't used nearly as much as the years before. He is a confidence player and we have already seen examples during pre-season and Everton match of what he is capable of. The fact that Ince also seem to give him some competiion with Keith Treacy knocking on the door might do good for Gamst.
hawkiiz Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 You'll find about 10 of us at O'Reilly's Irish pub at Grünerløkka whenever there's a Rovers match on 30 last time
wandel77 Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 30 last time Come to denmark and join me to promote the Rovers here in Denmark !
incecticide Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 Where is Nicko today? Full Premiership card starting tomorrow... Transfer window... He's probably a tad busy!
modes98 Posted August 22, 2008 Author Posted August 22, 2008 Where is Nicko today? You do know he has a job?
JohnS Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 You do know he has a job? He also has a job to keep his adoring public up to date with developments, only joking!!!
Lurid Coat Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 30 last time Wow! Haven't been there since the Man U game where Friedel played like a man possessed, and I believe we were about 15 strong then. I actually live about a 4 minutes' walk from that pub, so I should drop by next time there's a Rovers match on.
Lathund Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 Wow! Haven't been there since the Man U game where Friedel played like a man possessed That could be any Man U game since Friedel joined the club really
paddy Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 Nicko, i thought Man City had NO money. How did they get Kompany ?
Veevs Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 Corinthians perhaps benefitted, my bad it was not Santos. A lack of funds being exchanged between our own clubs will only eventually weaken our own clubs. Remember Italian football? I hate to go off topic on this board.. Yep both of us wrong there.. I just knew it was a South American club.. and no they did not get any cash.. Still if vision are in charge of him they won't hold his contract.. at least I dont think so. I take it you noticed Pinto signed for them this year.. has played 3 whole games for them and now he is off? Good player in the eyes of Santos, I doubt it or they would not get rid so quickly. My point is kind of highlighted by others on this board.. we have thanks to buying players from abroad increased our popularity worldwide.. this in turn increases the revenue generated workwide by merchandising, TV revenue etc.. yes we do fund foreign teams but in turn through these areas of income we recoup the money. We are not the Italian league, there has always been a bit of worldwide interest in our league.. and we dont play slow football. I am chuffed to bits seeing regular posters on this board from scandinavia.. they are all good lads.. well most of them anyway
