DingleBaiter Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 I think his performances and general attitude at Liverpool is well known to the staff at Rovers. That is a no go. Think said factors were well known to everyone for a long time, but Hughes still subsequently fancied him as a long term target though. Maybe he felt he could 'man manage' it out of him? Reckon if Hughes had still been here, he'd have been our annual 'star striker with something to prove' import to add to the list of Bellamy, Benedict and Roque - we're due another! However, given the steep learning curve Ince has faced so far, I agree the last thing he needs is more headaches. Still, we can but hope - Cisse certainly is keen for a move, fits criteria of a pacy striker - albeit with glass legs. I think that should read 'Speedie only left when we signed Shearer'. Which would validate my point precisely Factually incorrect I'm afraid. We would not have got Shearer unless they were getting Speedie; Branfoot had it as a dealbreaker.

leftfooter Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 I've cut, pasted and saved that comment leftfooter. You WILL be seeing it again. Given the amount of warnings I suspect we're both on, I'll live in hope

Unless you are trying to split hairs over who signed first?
Hughesy Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 Apparently the bid was £5m, be interesting to see if they make £9m.
my_name_is_Earl Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 Cheers Hughesy, was wondering how much it was.
Hi Mack Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 Treacy and Judge have certainly been given chances in pre-season. However it will be interesting if either figure today. Judge wont feature today hes off on Intl duty! Not sure about Keith! Im still holding on to a thread that Villanueva might feature! Looking like hes out though!
blue and whites Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 nicko do you know if carlos can play today?
rover6 Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 I was going to have a small bet on an away win at Goodison, but I'm not so sure now. Mrs Nicko's housekeeping will be on a Spurs away win instead...in fact, it just went on courtesy of Fred Done. You might want to put money on Darren Bent scoring. It will happen (if preseason has any relevance).
thenodrog Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 Rangers expected to sign Davies today. Where are they getting their money given that they are now bombed out of the Champions League at the first hurdle?
nicko Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 Rangers expected to sign Davies today. Where are they getting their money given that they are now bombed out of the Champions League at the first hurdle? Sold Cuellar for £7.8 million.
Valois Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 Nicko is there any more news on Uche? Is he a go if we do sell Benni?
nicko Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 Nicko is there any more news on Uche? Is he a go if we do sell Benni? I've not heard any more on that, but there are a couple of strikers being checked in Europe this week - just in case of a Benni sale I would imagine.
Majiball Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 I've not heard any more on that, but there are a couple of strikers being checked in Europe this week - just in case of a Benni sale I would imagine. Nicko, do you know if we may cast our net a little wider, to say Brazil, Mexico etc there are some serious up-coming talents in their leagues.

G Somerset Rover Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 Has Nicko confirmed that it's RSC who is injured or is everyone simply guessing?
AussieinUk Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 You might want to put money on Darren Bent scoring. It will happen (if preseason has any relevance). Preseason never carries through R6... Of Tottenham - Modric to score today maybe even... Bentley
G Somerset Rover Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 Guessing, he wouldn't spill the beans. Calculated guess work I suppose. What other absentee from our team would make you re-think your bet? RSC is our only big big player right now.
Majiball Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 Emerton, has been out for a while, also MGP, he did say two where out so, I'd say RSC and Emo. Check out the bet section someone's put down £40 on RSC to score first.
novella Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 have a feeling it could be nelson who isnt ready.
RoverRich Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 Didn't Nicko say he was tempted to put a bet on Villanueva to score the winner? Correct me if i am wrong cos can't be bothered to trawl through all his posts. Maybe its him and Santa thats out which is why Nicko has changed his mind. Hope not though!
hawkiiz Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 Nicko, do you know if we may cast our net a little wider, to say Brazil, Mexico etc there are some serious up-coming talents in their leagues. julio and roque from paraguay. villanueva from chile. looks like a wide net to me
Oklahoma Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 Nicko, do you know if we may cast our net a little wider, to say Brazil, Mexico etc there are some serious up-coming talents in their leagues. There are plenty of class players there. I would add Argentina. But most of them would have big problems getting a work permit.
LeChuck Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 julio and roque from paraguay. villanueva from chile. looks like a wide net to me Roque came from Germany, and I sincerely doubt it was our scouting network that alerted us to Julio...
