The Gull Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 Nicko, i thought Man City had NO money. How did they get Kompany ? Paddy, you must not have read the papers or any other comments on this board this week as it has been clearly stated that Citeh have borrowed £30m against future earnings which explains how they may have managed to pay for him.

nicko Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 Nicko, i thought Man City had NO money. How did they get Kompany ? You can be very creative with foreign deals and pay 'on the drip.' If the fee is around £5.5 million that could be split four into even five installments. I think Man City will sell Corluka and Ireland to English clubs before the window shuts and bring in about £11 million - less any money they still owe on Corluka. So suddenly you have a profit of maybe £9 million - plus wages - in the next financial year. City will also sign a Brazilian on loan if they can...which may let them sell someone else. But I believe there is even bigger Man City news round the corner which is why I have been missing for most of the day.

Daje Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 30 last time Really? I've never watched Rovers there, maybe I'll pop in and make it 31 soon Sorry for going OT...
roverfanuk Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 We could do allot worse then Ireland you know... Would rather him the Andrews anyway!? I have a weird feeling Ireland will go to Boro though!

Valois Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 Nicko, any news from ewood on potential transfers today?
AndyCV Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 I suspect it is more like they are very near going under....
hoss Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 Wouldn't it be awful if they were docked 10/15 points before the season started...
TrentVilla Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 Wouldn't it be awful if they were docked 10/15 points before the season started... Er...its started!
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 Wouldn't it be awful if they were docked 10/15 points before the season started... Ah yes, in the magical FA Tardis.
Flopsy Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 you honestly think the Premier league and the FA would have the balls or gumption to fine a team for going into administration? HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA this isnt the football league you know? Oh no this league is a much better run establishment
nicko Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 The big Man City news is NOT related to any players coming in... And the only Rovers news is that Andrews WON'T be playing for MK Dons tomorrow although there is a 'snag' that nobody wants to talk about. Fowler future to be sorted next week. Again.

Will the news see the club fold?
imy9 Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 Nicko- Why do you think Fowler has not signed yet? It seems to be dragging on a bit now! I think realistically we will sign our players on the final day of the transfer window (with most clubs I suspect!)
den Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 The big Man City news is NOT related to any players coming in... Who's leaving then? Richards?
1864roverite Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 Could be a simple player leaving like Corluka to Spurs. Johnson may turn down his new contract offer City may now be losing a major sponsorship deal !!! Or the Chairmans cat might have passed away come on guys....do we really care??
nicko Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 Nicko- Why do you think Fowler has not signed yet? It seems to be dragging on a bit now! The manager keeps saying how good he is...so it is something of a puzzle. But much of the transfer world is like that just now.
colbert Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11676_4031051,00.html Ince talks about no one for sale, unless its £20 million, if thats not a hint what is??
JohnS Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 Nicko we've missed you!!!! Any other potential transfers on the horizon?
Mr Creosote Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 Will the news see the club fold? I dont think that could ever happen. I work with a lot of City fans and most have been in denial until recently about what is going on at Wastelands however, a lot of those same lads are now gutted, bemused and deeply worried. A few of them monitor Nicko's news on here and I think his latest update will have made a few hearts sink.
nicko Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 Any other potential transfers on the horizon? Everton trying...nothing new there. Arsenal close to one. Man City with another Brazilian. It's a bit mental.
RibbleValleyRover Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11676_4031051,00.html Ince talks about no one for sale, unless its £20 million, if thats not a hint what is?? Interesting... Even if we had £20 million could you honestly see us bringing in a striker capable of Roque's workrate and 20 odd goals per season. One thats willing to come to the club? No chance, and would Ince even get the money from the sale?
