Cally Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 Silly to mention any figure. If someone now offers 20 mill he's got no choice but to accept, leaving you desperate to get a suitable replacement.

DeadlyDirk Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 Silly to mention any figure. If someone now offers 20 mill he's got no choice but to accept, leaving you desperate to get a suitable replacement. What are you talking about? Of course he has a choice! Yes or No!
rovers1995 Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 Did anyone hear the words come out of his mouth he might have been asked a question that they have conviently missed off the website and put the quotes together to resemble him saying £20 million is what he would sell at. I still don't thik roque will go but i just want the transfer window to close now. Lets give roque a hero's welcome tomorrow afternoon.
Cally Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 Yeah, he can say no, but he's made it difficult for himself.
Hughesy Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 They have said it a number of times - LISTEN CAREFULLY! RSC AND WARNOCK ARE NOT FOR SALE!
BRFC1995 Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 Doesn't that make the assumption that Taggart considers Roque to be worth £20 million? I am not being argumentative or even trying to widen the Roque debate (not that this emotive subject requires any more catalysts!!) BUT, most importantly, nor am I trying to speak with blue and white tinted Raybans!! WE adore Roque, WE think Roque walks on water, WE think he can find a cure for cancer and resurrect John Wayne..........this is because WE are Rovers fanatics. The rest of the league consider Roque to be a very good striker.....VERY GOOD striker.......they don't consider him to be a Torres, Adebeyor or even Arshavin. The point I am making is this.......I don't believe any of the clubs would put a value of £20 million in his head and would, therefore, not be prepared to pay that much. Spuds shirked at £19.5 million for Arshavin.....a man they had almost bet their reputation on getting.....are they therefore going to pay MORE for Roque??? I doubt it. Villa will never pay £20 million for anyone because, like the rest of the clubs in and around them it is far too much of a risk. That leaves the big 4........Arsenal are a no....they have Adebeyor, Chelsea are a no.....they don't need him.......Liverpool are a no.....they can't afford £18 million for Barry.......that leaves Manure and ONLY Manure. Taggart...loathe him though I do, is a very shrewd man....he never pays over the odds for a player and will not start with Roque. It is too much of a risk to throw all his eggs in one basket on one man who would have to demand regular first team football to support the amount paid for him. How would Tevez and Shrek feel about that? Could he keep them all happy?? In a nutshell I am saying this. WE value Roque so highly because he plays for our club and we love what he does in a Rovers shirt. That doesnt mean a plethora of clubs are now going to FedEx a £20 million cheque to JW anytime soon. My first post......keep up the great work mods. ermm.................veron, kleberson,carrick,hargreaves,anderson,nani,..........................i'd say he's quite willing to pay over the odds and then some!
roverfanuk Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 Yeah, he can say no, but he's made it difficult for himself. Never knew saying something on Sky was a legally binding verbal agreement/contract?! Dont remember him mentioning Cruz's name either, for all we know the 20 million fee could be in relation to Paul Gallagher! In other news, Villa are valueing Ashley Young at £30 million? How much does that make Cruz worth then to Villa?!
novella Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 we should just slap a 50 million price tag on him and be done with it.
StaffsRover Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 ermm.................veron, kleberson,carrick,hargreaves,anderson,nani,..........................i'd say he's quite willing to pay over the odds and then some! You make a valiid point and I am mot going to argue with it but I will say this is......Veron was regarded as the best midfielder in the world when he bought him, Carrick is English......ALL overpriced (ergo Hargreaves), Kleberson was the Brazilian Whizkid that the country themselves regarded as their next great thing and Anderson and Nani's prices have been greatly exaggerated I believe. The £50 million price tag for the two was a total load of hogwash and whatever price was agreed was only based on add-ons and 'ifs'. All that aside, the key point of my post was that I dont believe anyone will bid £20 million (CASH) for Roque.......I won't eat all my hats or do some of the other rediculous things people state they will do on here if they do because football always surprises you......just my humble opinion based purely on the values put by OTHER clubs on strikers which THE WORLD (not Rovers fans) consider to be a level above Roque.
rovers1995 Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 I'm going to ask Paul before tomorrows game not to sell santa cruz and i'll tell you all what he says. I'll also tell julio to beg his brother to stay lol. Nicko, do you expect any big name signings to come to rovers in the next week, someone to get us really excited?
DeadlyDirk Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 So can everyone stop panicking now and agree with me that RSC is staying! End of (At least until the next transfer window!)
Kei Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 Pheeeeeeeeeeeeew what a relief!!!!!!!!!!!! Good lad Roque.
Earlydoors Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 But I believe there is even bigger Man City news round the corner which is why I have been missing for most of the day. Are they going for Gary Glitter ?
RevidgeBlue Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 Did RSC signing a new contract completely escape your radar nicko? All we've had for the last week or two are veiled hints about other clubs coming in for him and it being a long time to the end of the window etc. etc.
bringdunnback Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 No more talk on RSC please, no Villa, Newcastle and Man ###### fans coming on asking crappy questions about him. Even you nicko!!
A cup of beans Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 Are they going for Gary Glitter ? i've just got the bends from nearly choking to death on my cup of coffee!
DeadlyDirk Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 Did RSC signing a new contract completely escape your radar nicko? All we've had for the last week or two are veiled hints about other clubs coming in for him and it being a long time to the end of the window etc. etc. There were rumours about him signing a new contract. I'm pretty sure Rovers would have kept this one very tight lipped, if other clubs had known he may be accepting a new contract then it might well of rushed them into a high panic bid. You know what they say, sometimes no news is good news. All in all though, this is the best signing we have made and are likely to make all summer.
nicko Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 Did RSC signing a new contract completely escape your radar nicko? All we've had for the last week or two are veiled hints about other clubs coming in for him and it being a long time to the end of the window etc. etc. You obviously failed to spot that I said he was happy at the club - got the usual slagging for that - and that it 'would be a good idea' to offer him a new contract a few days ago. Not you like to moan or be selective. Are they going for Gary Glitter ? Youth team boss.
roverfanuk Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 So Nicko, my question from earlier stands. Whats it like behind the scenes at Ewood? Frantic or controlled...?
RibbleValleyRover Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 Nicko, is there any truth in the 'Joaquin is staying put' comments by a member of the Valencia board?
1864roverite Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 Hey Big Al if you can headline Fowler turns down Rovers offer for your Sunday Headline I will personally buy the mirror all season. You know it makes sense as that gap we talked about is unbridgeable
nicko Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 Nicko, is there any truth in the 'Joaquin is staying put' comments by a member of the Valencia board? I think the 'Joaquin stays' story that came out earlier looks pretty reliable. There is a very good Man City story going to break in the papers tomorrow. Hopefully a follow-up to it on Sunday. Might make one or two doubters realise how bad things are there...and what could be happening next. Get the online papers early and see what you think.
JohnS Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 I also said that this constant interest may lead to a new contract. Great news for Rovers.
roverfanuk Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 No 11o'clocker then? Nicko did you see my question?
