This suggests he is a player who values money and lifestyle over actually playing football! Prefers being a part-time player/cup player for 'big boys' Liverpool than play football regularly for little old Blackburn. With his attitude we should look elsewhere

We'd have the technical approach with pedersen down one side

is "technical" interchangeable with "slow"?

Bentley was technical, Pedersen needs form, which is yet to return.

Nicko, is Joaquin staying put, or are we still swopping gambits?

Seems Villaneuva may fill the creative hole Tugay used to fill, but the threat Bentley posed needs replacing pronto.

No, Ramos is obviously doing something very wrong.

I actually watched the match instead of just highlights, and Ramos was doing something right on the Lennon/Bentley front. Lennon did a great job creating attacks from nowhere. Lots of other fronts he didn't do well on - like having more than one person up when the crosses were put in.

T4E and I were saying a little while back that we need the "old Dunn" who took on defenders and ran with the ball. Lennon was doing just that.

That's sort of my point though. He made such an ambiguous claim that really he could never have been proven wrong. The only time I've ever claimed to have heard info it has been wrong (Benni on the verge of signing a season too early, that contact may well have been made with Croatian FA and that Cisse was on the verge of signing with us earlier this summer). I'll just say this then...source close to myself and Rovers says that we're on the verge of signing someone in the next 48-72 hours. I just dislike it when people claim to have these sources, so far I'm only aware of about 5/6 members on this board who have genuine sources and I don't see how a source can pop up from nowhere.

If you'd said the bit in bold originally I wouldn't have argued with you. He's not been proven wrong, for exactly the reason you say.

I'm not a big fan of the "someone told me" stuff either, but I'd say it's wiser to take a balanced view than to immediately believe or dismiss what is being said.

Is the jaoquin deal dead now then Nicko?

It really depends on how badly Rovers want to buy him. A deal can be done but it is a lot of money.

Would a £9-11 million signing have a 'return'? Not entirely sure although there is cash to be spent if the answer is 'yes.'

It's a big call.

Do it even if he only stays 2/3 years he'll still be worth money yes we may lose some selling him back to spain, but out of all the linked RW's he is the stand out candidate.

Nicko give Incey a call and tell him to do it!!!

Thats why I've always liked Lennon, and also why I tend to come out in support of James McFadden when he gets mentioned. Players that commit defenders are worth their weight in gold - even if they do not directly create something, then tend to make space for someone else. And we have plenty of players capable of taking advantage of that.

Does this guy actually exist?

Noticed the programme had TWO photoshopped pics of him - one as mentioned before from the website, plus another one they've bodged.

Just as well we didn't play him yesterday; he wouldn't have seen any of the ball it was so high.

Looking at that link for Pennant, I'm wondering if he's metamorphosing (sp?) into Lionel Richie. :o

Well we have just 8 days left and the excitement/worry is building..

Nicko do you know who the scouts where looking at this weekend?

Any news on Lopez (sorry if I have missed any posts about him)?

RW - We know a few that they are looking at.. but there are a few clubs looking to fill that slot as well.. So far we have only really been linked with Joaquin and Pennant.. and both do not sound overly promising. But we do have Lopez on Trial..

But do we have time to back track.. I dont think Ince nor JW would splash the sort of cash for the other alternatives who have potentially (we just don't know who has been looked at) not been looked at Larsson, Kightly, SWP, Riera, Cazorla..

CM/DM - Well it's looking increasingly likely that Andrews will be in, but will we get anyone else? It's a tough call but only Grella and Annan have been closely linked here. Would really love to see the scout reports and see who else has been monitored :(

RB - Looks like we are going to settle with what we have here, but unless Simpson gets a few games we are going to have to spent next summer/transfer window here

Striker - Pinto being looked at, Zigic and Olic linked.. with Fowler on trial still.. but with Benni staying will we get one of those in?

I do admit a little worry that we will end up with Pinto, Andrews, Fowler and Lopez in an attempt to survive until the January transfer window.. bit by bit it does look like we are increasingly just sticking in cheap temporary fixes until we can find the right people to fix the issues properly.

The kid is fresh out of South America and has never played in Europe. It would not have been the wisest decision ever to stick him in yesterday. Needs a bit of time to adapt and settle in.

The perfect time to give him a runout will be against Grimsby in midweek. He was probably only on the bench to make the numbers up being 7 these days.

With his chicken pox it probably means he is a bit below match sharpness at the moment, not quite ready for the cut and thrust of the premiership. I don't think it's anything to be alarmed about, like I said he should feature at some point against Grimsby, then we'll hopefully have a slightly better idea of what this guy is about and where he might positionally feature for Rovers this season.

As for Joaquin, I think this one will float around around until the end of the transfer window. Didn't someone translate a quote earlier in this thread that said he would make up his mind on the 30th?

Judging from the reports there is obviously an interest in him, I just think Rovers are trying to get Valencia's asking price down a bit, if they succeed in doing that he could well become a Blackburn player late in the window.

There has been a lot of talk about a bit of a cash crisis in Valencia, not qualifying for the champions league surely had a big impact on this, they want to hold on to prize assets such as Villa and Silva who recentley signed a new contract so there is a good chance someone will have to go, even if he is not keen on leaving the club.

Was he not on the subs bench against everton?

YES he was.. question for me is was he involved in the Friendly in turkey (dont know the squad but by all accounts the match was played in heat and despite it being a friendly was very high tempo).. and has he fully recovered from Chicken pox (really known to hit adults for six)?

If he was left out for Tactical reasons it may be Ince did not feel that the Physical Hull would be the poor lads best intro to the game?

EDIT: Yes he was on the Bench at Everton.. just not Hull match which is what I was referring too..

He was on every official line up I saw against Everton, was wearing the kit on the day and was seen celebrating in front of the cameras with the rest of the team at the end.
