I see your point but having seen Paul Robinson play lots of games and make lots of basic mistakes I can safely say he isn't a particularly good keeper. He is flawed. He might be do ok but I'm expecting quite a few goals to be down to his lack of ability. Al Habsi is younger and looks a good talent but it could be a flash in the pan.

I don't have a great deal of faith in Ince, as you know but I am willing to give him games and the Everton performance was good. He seems to not know what he is doing in the transfer market but if he pulls off two or three good signings and proves me wrong this week I'll be quite happy and will hope those players do well for him.

Elaborate please? What's your criteria, or is it your clear objective, unbiased opinion to justify why Ince doesn't know what he's doing? Because he's not panic buying? Because he's having a good scout around? Because he's taking time to cast around - bear in mind he was shopping in bargain basement over last 18 months.

How would you judge 'good signings'? Surely this can't be decided in a week? So he signs a big money player that ends up a flop? He signs an 'uninspiring' player who proves committed & consistent and adds to the team/squad?

Cripes, I bet you're the type of guy who sends his lass to Tesco to buy his tea without telling her what he fancies, then complains when he doesn't get his favourite chicken dinosaurs, or counts out his alphabet squares and moans because he hasn't the letters to spell swear words. :D

AL-HABSI - Told you yesterday, Rovers asked and Bolton said no.

Strange that Rovers should make a public announcement of their rebuffed approach.

Will such a move stir things? Al-Habsi is likely to leave, he only has 1 year left on his contract. Bolton are not in a good position to hang on to him, especially after his outstanding performances in the UEFA Cup last season. If Al-Habsi were to militate for a move, Bolton would probably have to seriously consider selling while they can earn.

However, AL-Habsi is at the age and level of confidence to be looking for the first team jersey. I would very much doubt that he'd have agreed to join Rovers in the knowledge that a newly signed, expensively contracted, England international was ahead of him.

Brilliant, the best post i have read on this thread. I take my hat of squire, agree with everything. Fair play to Incey for not panic buying (yet anyway).

Isn't this just Rovers publicly demonstrating to other clubs, i.e. Citeh, how things should be done? You make an approach and, if it's rejected, you make clear that you respect the other club's decision and move on. What you don't do is keep stirring things up by leaking stories to the tabloid press, e.g. City's tiresome pursuit of RSC, even when you've been told "thanks, but no thanks".

Sorry if I've missed this, but are you guys still in for Grella? There's a lot of rumours flying around that we might be in for him but I'm sure I read on here that you had more or less signed him.

Oh Den, you cheeky so and so.

What have you said that hasn't been anti the new regime/manager?

Errrrr.... giving Ince and the players credit for a great performance against Everton. Also Speeeeeeeeedie and Rev, why would I be anti Ince? After all, that would automatically follow that I would want him to fail. Seeing that I've got a season ticket, I'd hardly want to watch rovers lose week in, week out would I. On the contrary guys, I fervently hope that he turns out to be a great manager for us.

BUT, nor will I fall into the trap of refusing to criticise him if I think he's doing things badly. I'll leave it to the Inceites like you two, to support him come what may. :D

are blackburn still looking at joaquin??

when is keith andrews due for a medical?? From the comments from this forum over the past few weeks, I suggest his medical will be as soon as somebody chins him.

If we don't get a RM, and we end up signing two more CM, I think we will end up playing with one DM, 2 CM and 1 AM.

Probably Grella as a DM, Reid and Dunn as CM and Villanueva as a AM.

RSC and MGP will be up front.

No room for our double goal scorer?!

Im sorry, i know some people on here dont like Roberts, but you cant chuck him out of the squad at the moment, he HAS been our best player this season without a shadow of a doubt!

Calciomercato say that Bolton are considering an offer from Birmingham for Al-Habsi

this is a more likely formation, in my opinion.

Roberts played well this two games (missed some too), but can he honestly keep it up for more than 10 games a season?

Since this seems to have become the unofficial James Milner thread over the past few days, I'd just like to say that he is looking very good tonight against Coventry. He's not afraid to have a go from range and has set up one and scored another.

I would think as he is playing, that he will be staying and not going to Villa. Would you agree, nicko?

Have you seen the bench...who else were they going to play?

Being cup tied for this ###### pot cup is nothing to put Villa off him.

Judging by the timing of this one the guys are working pretty late tonight.. suprised andrews was not announced at the same time though.. if the only reason he has not signed yet is for PR reasons then hopefully that means Ince reckons someone more exciting than Grella may also be on his way in..

Why do I get the feeling that Andrews will be signed at 11.59 on Monday, so that he can sneak into the Premier League with the usual plethora of mad last minute signings...?

Wonder if Andrews will be sneaked in with this signing?

Wonder if we ever will, or ever were going to?

Congratulations Emerson Carlyle - at last you've got a central midfielder you deem good enough by your standards. Hope he was worth the wait, I for one hope so to put all this obfuscation about Mr K Andrews to one side, and all the doubters can rejoice when we've a proper warrior with a winning mentality in the ranks. Either that, or someone that's going to knock some heads together & battle on your behalf.

The Guv'nor is dead, long live the Grellatine.
