Nicko - Is the news of Fowler rejecting the offer, now the end of the matter?

Stoke and Blackburn lead the contenders for Lens midfielder Kanga Akale. (Daily Mail)

Wikipedia says he's a pacey winger/forward with 33 caps for the Ivory Coast, and is either currently or formerly on loan at Marseille. Anyone know if he's definitely right footed?

Makes sense to sign him, we've just signed a 'Roo after all ...

He is signing for Stoke on a year long loan apparently.

Confirmed with a French league friend of mine that Akale is a right winger, nothing spectacular but just decent. Pacy, but Marseille wont give him away as he has recently signed a new contract according to him...

AKALE - Nonsense.

FOWLER - Heard he was unhappy with the pay-as-you-play deal, so it may be that he goes. Mind you, the manager has been pushing for him to stay. So this is probably not dead yet. I wonder if there was a trade within the club - 'you can have Andrews or Fowler but not both'?...makes you think.

Nicko do we actually have £9Million? Or is it we don't value players highly. We need a right winger but we don't want to pay for Pennant, or the likes of SWP or Milner.

SWP is not worth £9m IMO. For every pass he receives he wastes most in a frustrating way. Poor ball or worst still, selfish dribble to nowhere. For what? Ocationally very good goal or a well times pass inside. SWP need lots of service to deliver. We dont have that luxury in the PREM. Besides we will ahve other players on the park who can do good things with the ball.

I think it's more not wanting to pay over the odds for a player. Neither Milner or Pennant are worth £9m. Pennant is worth about £3.5m and Milner maybe £5-6m. Not sure if the club would pay £9-10m for SWP, I would say he is worth about £7-8m.

The thing is the club won't be held over a barrel for any player - and I'm glad that this is the case.

SWP is better than Pennant for sure, and he has done more to justify any hype around him than Lennon.

Now if it comes down to Joaquin or SWP, I am not sure who I would take. Joaquin is definitely the BETTER player, BUT the risk of adjusting to English football would exist so it may be better to go for the "safer" option.

I understand that, but my point is simple we can't demand over the odd's for our players and then try and get some players on the cheap. We need a quality RW, SWP/Milner/Pennant are better than what we have. I'm not saying break the bank or anything, lets spend the money we have. I know were doing ok in the league at the moment, but we lose a few theres pressure on Ince.

Anyway, if Fowler doesn't sign, why was he put in the team photo? If he doesn't sign, the photo will be spoilt with his ugly non-Blackburn player mug (even though it is already anyway, ha!)

On Grella + Andrews = £5 million.

Grella is around £4 million and Andrews [with bits] will be around £1 million.
