nicko Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 Nicko do you believe with Grella and Andrews in, that the summer shopping for us is done. I will be happy when the Andrews thing is done, but that won't stop the activity. There are right wing possibilities...a second-choice keeper...and intriguingly a left back being watched as cover or whatever with Warnock. Then you have the Fowler and Pinto issues. This is far from over. JUST A BIT MORE ON ANDREWS... http://www.harlowstar.co.uk/mknews-sport-m...e.asp?ID=343484
imy9 Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 Nicko- why do you think there is a hold up with Andrews signing? A fee has been agreed, I suspect he has passed a medical and agreed terms? It seems very strange... Also what is your take on Fowler, surely if he wants to prove himself he would agree to a pay as play deal?
The Rover of Finland Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 Nicko, Michael Bradley fancies Prem move. It´s on Setanta sites. Is there any interest from Rovers? Or did Carlos fill that place? You won´t tell names but could you say how many real potential there is for RW?
tony gale's mic Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 Nicko is Joaquin still live? I thought it had fizzled out but the way people are talking here it sounds like it might have a chance...have missed a fair few of your posts as I'm in Malaysia!
RevidgeBlue Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 I will be happy when the Andrews thing is done, but that won't stop the activity. Starting to sweat a bit?
nicko Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 TO RE-CAP...for the hard of hearing [i think you know who I mean] ANDREWS - There has been a bid accepted, the player has been kept out of the past three MK Dons games, he has been told all the way through that Rovers would come for him, he was at Blackburn at the weekend. FOWLER - Has been offered a contract. Not happy with the terms. Perhaps these are very low. I don't think he's a greedy guy, but he won't want to be insulted. Unless that is the idea. Sometimes you have to work these things out for yourselves. It's not that hard.
Billy Castell Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 At least it seems that the cogs are turning, and with Grella and probably Andrews coming in we may have the impetus to sign a right winger and maybe a striker. Just a shame that Double Keane didn't take Benni off us for £8-9m. Hopefully these moves will get us going for other fancier targets.
misterbigalow Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 Could just photoshop King Carlos over Fowler, although they'd have to make sure it looks better than his profile pic. Thats actually a good idea, I'm sure someone could put Carlos in the kit, sit him down, take a photo and stick him in where Fowler is and make it look like he was there on team photo day. I'd offer my services to the club myself if I was that good, ha!
bringdunnback Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 So to sum up the additions to the squad: Possible Ins :Andrews, GK, RW, LB Then Fowler or Pinto. 5 players seem a bit steep.
nellybc Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 Can we just get through to the end of the transfer window with warnock in blue n white. Just the mention of another left back makes me worry. Does ince think that olsson is not a suitable replacement if warnock were to suffer an injury ? I can see how we are covered for most positions central and right sided with players who have premiership experience - so maybe we do need cover on the left ?? I hope its only cover though!

I said a couple of weeks back when an inquiry was made for Konchesky that it was as cover - and also in case Warnock left. The guy being looked at right now fits the same bill...but is much cheaper. Nothing to worry about.

You would not want Olsen to play every week in the Premier if Warnock got injured or banned...this is a very sensible piece of insurance that is being considered.
leftfooter Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 You would not want Olsen to play every week in the Premier if Warnock got injured or banned...this is a very sensible piece of insurance that is being considered. Ince is showing signs of maturity and pragmatism. Building foundations from the back upwards. If he were going gung-ho for expensive flash-in-the-pan players like SWP, then it would be time to worry.

Would we want the new player we are considering to play every week in the Premier if Warnock got injured?? I don't think Olsen will be to happy as well. I rather we look at other postions 1st like a RM/AM then look at LB, thats unless Warnock leaves of course.
nicko Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 Would we want the new player we are considering to play every week in the Premier if Warnock got injured?? Yes, you would.
rovers1995 Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 Nicko does the left back being watched play in the premiership and would he be a good replaement if warnock did get injured or banned.

Nicko. Is the player currently playing in the UK?. Would you class him as proven or potential EPL standard?. What do you estimate is value at?..
gazsimm Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 Yes, you would. do you rate him as good as Warnock? Is he a natually left back or can he also fill in other postions as well if needed.
nicko Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 Nicko. Is the player currently playing in the UK?. NO Would you class him as proven or potential EPL standard?. PROBABLY What do you estimate is value at?.. COULD BE A SEASON-LONG LOAN I'LL NAME THE GUY IN THE 12 O'CLOCKER...I WON'T GET OUT OF LIVERPOOL AND BE BACK AT NICKO TOWERS BEFORE THEN. do you rate him as good as Warnock? Is he a natually left back or can he also fill in other postions as well if needed. I DON'T KNOW ENOUGH ABOUT HIM BUT HE HAS A GOOD CV. HE IS JUST A LEFT BACK AS FAR AS I KNOW.
nicko Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 Nicko I know news broke today about Milner handing in a transfer request. Are Villa the only club interested or will we have competition? Think it is only Villa. They seem to be orchestrating. .
67splitscreen Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 Must be very close to signing the LB then to name him.
