jonv Posted November 9, 2008 Posted November 9, 2008 Roberts will have a few games to play in the upcoming fixtures, hopefully he can net a few goals and play strong so we can either have an in form striker or get a better price for him in January... its all tactical.

American Posted November 9, 2008 Posted November 9, 2008 Don't think we could do much better for a squad player. Hopefully that's the role they expect him to play long term.
47er Posted November 9, 2008 Posted November 9, 2008 Jason would be a terrific acquisition for a Championship side. Every now and again he does something that makes you think he's worth persevering with but the end product is rarely there and the feeling never lasts. If everyone of our starting eleven were of his quality we would be relegated. The trouble is,I fear we're getting there. Unless we make signings in January significantly better than Jason Roberts I fear the worst.
thenodrog Posted November 9, 2008 Posted November 9, 2008 No wonder Terry dislikes playing against him, he is as strong as Terry and faster. In the air though it's no contest. I'm sure that Ince will have noted that and instructed his squad accordingly.
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted November 9, 2008 Posted November 9, 2008 This is a signing for next season, he'll look good in the championship.
jonv Posted November 9, 2008 Posted November 9, 2008 roberts has scored 2 hattricks in a row on my fifa manager mode, the signs are good for this arvo
thenodrog Posted November 9, 2008 Posted November 9, 2008 Terrible performance. He kept backing away from passes instead of moving forward to 'meet' them, allowing Chelsea defenders to nip in and cut out his supply line. He was really poor today but still approx 10x better than his replacement.
1864roverite Posted November 9, 2008 Posted November 9, 2008 In his defence the passing and supply line to him were non existant. ont he one occasion we had a supply and pass at least he got a shot off and forced a keeper to make a save.
thenodrog Posted November 9, 2008 Posted November 9, 2008 In his defence the passing and supply line to him were non existant. You have a point where our MoM was concerned. He kept trying to hit balls onto Robert's head like some Sunday Park player rather than playing the ball to his feet.
1864roverite Posted November 9, 2008 Posted November 9, 2008 I am trying to find a positive Gordon (cant think were I heard that phrase before)
Exiled_Rover Posted November 9, 2008 Posted November 9, 2008 In his defence the passing and supply line to him were non existant. ont he one occasion we had a supply and pass at least he got a shot off and forced a keeper to make a save. The supply wasn't there, but it was never going to be against Chelsea. Roberts should have run himself into the ground, held the ball up when the chance arose and generally given Terry and Alex a hard game. He did none of these things - all he did was turn nicely and fluff a gilt edged chance.
modes98 Posted November 9, 2008 Posted November 9, 2008 I thought he did his best given he was our only striker with very little support from the midfield. Should have taken his chance but it's Roberts

I didn't think he had a gret game today but I did think he did a good job running the line and giving the centrebacks a hard time. I thought they really struggled with him. I was completely non plusssed by Fowler coming on. What was that supposed to achieve?

broadsword Posted November 10, 2008 Posted November 10, 2008 Would've been better to dummy it and commit the keeper to a dive.
Hughesy Posted November 10, 2008 Posted November 10, 2008 The problem was that he didnt even look up to see where Cech was. Anelka looked up several times when he was one on one with Robbo, but Robbo pulled off a very clever save. Roberts just hit his straight at Cech.
DanLad Posted November 16, 2008 Posted November 16, 2008 The Frank Bruno of football. Big guy, who never really puts it about as much as he should.
AndyC Posted November 17, 2008 Posted November 17, 2008 The Frank Bruno of football. Big guy, who never really puts it about as much as he should. its his lack of skill and awareness i'm more bothered about.
AussieinUk Posted November 17, 2008 Posted November 17, 2008 get rid. simply not good enough. Yep. Totally agree - Should be one of the first out the door in January, IMO.
RevidgeBlue Posted November 17, 2008 Posted November 17, 2008 Yep. Totally agree - Should be one of the first out the door in January, IMO. What, the guy who who has just been handed a new contract? (And that particular saga has been rolling on for ages since Hughes was here before anyone uses it as another excuse to have a go at Ince)
Claytons Left Boot Posted November 17, 2008 Posted November 17, 2008 Way past his best, couldn't trap a bag of cement or hit a barn door from two paces. Now for his bad points........
