DeadlyDirk Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 £100,000 p/w for Wayne Bridge. Best paid full-back in the world? You have to be kidding me. Circus City. It does make one laugh, Scott Parker they are willing to pay similiar amounts to as well, the world has gone mad, oh actually its just City! If they somehow managed to persuade someone like Messi or Kaka to even talk to them I wonder how much they'd offer, £10 million a week maybe?
stuwilky Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 Am told his services have been dispensed with. Bookies odds seem to reflect but time will tell.....
RibbleValleyRover Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 Am told his services have been dispensed with. Would scupper any Roque move if true...
brfcshabba Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 Would scupper any Roque move if true... Oddschecker have opened a market for new City manager
Anti Euro Smiths Fan Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 No confirmation - as yet - that Hughes has been sacked, but the link below on the internal politics at Man City is an interesting one. The article suggests that a divisive group of mutinous players at City have deliberately undermined Hughes, with Ben Haim and Elano being the chief trouble makers in the dressing room. One player apparently approached Garry Cook, City's executive chairman, to air his grievances about Hughes. Another player is said to have been laughing and joking after the 3–0 defeat by Nottingham Forest on Saturday. Link: Hughes undermined by City's local politics
DeadlyDirk Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 If it's true then anyone but Mourinho!!! With their money along with his reputation and talent they could attract some big players and become a force to be reckoned with, I can't see them going for anyone else though. Get your money on it now!!!
philipl Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 This suggests that City will line up the new guy before firing Sparky The £24m Toure bid has been rejected. Being unable to land the players Hughes does go for is not going to help any.

braddock Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 I''m trying to find an online bookies that is still taking bets on next premiership manager to be sacked but can't find any! Anyone any ideas? i just went on bet fair and just before i clicked bet it went from 2.5 to 1.5 a bit annoying still put a tenner on
Hughesy Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 Most bookies close around 10pm - 11pm at night online so they dont get stung. You will need to check again 1st thing tomorrow.
DeadlyDirk Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 i just went on bet fair and just before i clicked bet it went from 2.5 to 1.5 a bit annoying still put a tenner on Is that the managerial change market? 1.6 (8/13) now, Scolari is actually second favourite at the moment, apparantley he was 33/1 before the FA Cup game, now he is about 5/2!!! Things can change quickly in football thats for sure! Think I'll be leaving it, at that price its not worth the risk in case he hasn't gone yet. To be honest though I've said a few bad things about Hughes since he left us but some of the stuff that has happened at City since he got there has been pretty crazy, if he has any pride he'll walk before he is pushed.
RevidgeBlue Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 i just went on bet fair and just before i clicked bet it went from 2.5 to 1.5 a bit annoying still put a tenner on 2.0 available now, I think you steamed in a bit too quickly.
iamarover Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 2.0 available now, I think you steamed in a bit too quickly. Sven. The Homecoming. Back him now.
my_name_is_Earl Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 How likely is it that Hughes has been sacked? Just as a guess?
Grabbi Graeme Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 Sky and Setanta have not picked up on it yet if it has happened, the arabs have to make the choice of letting Hughes spend the money or quickly get a new guy in to spend it. I'm sure they did not envisage being near the bottom of the league and being dumped out of the cups, if Hughes does go, it will be interesting to see who they would line up, Mourino seems to be a favourite but would he leave Milan to get involved in a relagation fight.

Sysagent Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 Heh... A case of "The Grass Is Not Always Greener On The Other Side" if I have ever seen one! I sense poor ol' Sparky hasn't got long at the City Circus, tough sh1t I say serves himself right for hopping into bed with the devil.
accyrover Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 One bookmaker is offering 8/15 for Hughes to be sacked before February. I have to say I'm not suprised. With all that money flying around Middle-Eastlands they are going to want big named players and a big named manager. Hughes simply isn't the right name to attract world class, well known players to a team strugging at the wrong end of the table. I agree with the sentiments that Hughes has no moral scrupples. He jumped into bed with Shinawatra, a man with an appaling repuation. How City themselves had the morals to let him take over the club is beyond me and for that reason alone they deserve to go bankrupt and disappear forever. Now Hughes is employed by a bunch of cartel-running, middle eastern oil barons who hold the western world to ransom by shoving up the price of a barrel of oil or cutting production to artificailly inflate the market. They are nothing but criminals in my opionion and the sooner we find a viable alternative to oil the better. I have no sympathy with any of them. Accyrover

Accyrover If I was a carpenter making shelves and I found that I was producing too many shelves for my fixed client base, I would slow down the production to avoid having to sell all my stock on the cheap due to storage issues. This would be even more necessary if my supply of wood was finite and I couldn't guarantee it forever. I would be throwing good money away. They don't artificially control the market. They control the supply. Petrol hasn't been as cheap as it is at the moment for a long time, and the "high" cost is mostly tax. Then again it's more fun to blame the Arabs.

Using the same quote time and again is probably a more reliable indicator of a lack of intellect. Still, at least you didn't claim it as your own this time.
