Stonesrick Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 This perhaps sums up why the Premier League is in danger of meltdown. People coming into football with loads of dosh and little idea of how to run a football club. In a few years time I hope City get exactly what they deserve - and I don't mean the Premiership title.Just heard Sparky has lost his job - Disgraceful!
Bobby G Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 Well Ill be honest, Im not surprised. The Emiratis are not patient and usually with one or two bad results they sack their national team coaches and club coaches no matter who they are. I was shocked that Hughes survived last season. Im not surprised that during a season when Liverpool, United, Arsenal and to a level Chelsea are below their best, and having watched Spurs, and Villa exceed their own expectations, that the City people are thinking they shouldve taken more of an advantage. Im also pretty sure having spent all the money they did, their order of the day was to push for 4th place.
den Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 Why would anyone want a manager back, who spent the last 6 months of his reign at Ewood, looking to get out? I wouldn't.
MarkBRFC71 Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 Just said on Sky that the board told Toure (as club captain) that Hughes was being sacked, and it was his duty to tell the rest of the players! What an absolutely classless, shambolic, unprofessional way to handle it ....
Blue n White Rover Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 He's 4 points off a Champions League spot with a game in hand. Lost only 2 games this season, least in the whole of the Premier League. Got City into their 1st Semi-Final outing in ages. Ridiculous to sack him! I'd have this man back in a heartbeat, the amount of money and entertainment he bought to Rovers was unbelievable. People can say all they want, but if you had the chance to choose between Big Sam and Sparky, it'll be Sparky all day long for me. BEst of luck Hughesy!
philipl Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 1831: BREAKING NEWS: Manchester City have confirmed the sacking of manager Mark Hughes, and announced the appointment of Roberto Mancini as his replacement.
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 rafa is so lucky liverpool are skint so they can't afford to sack the useless git.......fairplay to city some of hughes signings have been crap lescott bridge santa sylvinho?....plus from a team spirit point of view you'd never sign adebayor or robinho but i guess he did'nt sign robinho Ha! Ha!! my God....how I would love to see some of those players playing for us right now instead of the dross we have!!! Would Rovers board have the balls to release Sam and re-appoint Hughes?.After some of the supposed comments Hughes made towards Williams and the club you must be f'kin joking See Hughsey,Like SO MANY other's that leave Ewood with an inflated ego ....the grass is not always greener on the other side.
Bobby G Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 Entertainment to Ewood Park? Our last 6 months of the season saw horrendous defensive performances. We were just getting games over with as our manager clearly didnt have his heart in it no more. On a more relevant note, he's gone. Mancini in.
Blue n White Rover Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 http://www.mcfc.co.uk/News/Club-news/2009/December/Change-of-manager-at-City Confirmed on City website.
Bobby G Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 Well thats a typical Emirates "PR" statement. It even has a cool and collected comment by the Chairman wishing Mancini luck!
Blue n White Rover Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 Talksport say Brian Kidd as his assistant Yeah that's also confirmed on their website. Any chance of a Bentley, Santa Cruz, Bellamy and Hughes reunion at Ewood
Shaft Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 Talksport say Brian Kidd as his assistant Shurely shome mishtake Comedy stuff from the soon to be most despised club in the world
tcj_jones Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 He should have been given until the end of the season. I reckon he'd still have got them to fourth spot and may well have got a cup, given the chance. Win their game in hand on Liverpool and they're five points clear.
brfcs5359 Posted December 19, 2009 Author Posted December 19, 2009 Hughes wasn't up to the job. With the players he had every game was winnable. Going out for draws and playing cautiously was a manager lacking the confidence to manage a 'big club' or one with big bucks anyway. Given the way he sh1t on Rovers he got his just deserts. Do we want him back? Do we heck. He belittled Rovers and had run his course with some terrible blunders. I do not wan to swap BFS negative football for MH negative football.
bigbrandjohn Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 A big +1.... Make that 2 Lest we forget http://worldbbnews.com/2009/12/why-what-worked-at-blackburn-isnt-coming-off-at-manchester-city-louise-taylor/
den Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 Brian Kidd eh? What's Brian McLair doing nowadays, they must need someone to line the cones up
brfcs5359 Posted December 19, 2009 Author Posted December 19, 2009 Wot? Brian Kidd as No.2???! Useless at Rovers and hell be useless at City.

Tell me one single thing he did or said to belittle the club? He clearly cited his reason for leaving as having taken Rovers as far as they could go with the limited funds at their disposal. He left in order to further his career. I'm also pretty sure that the majority of those draws weren't played for, but were due to a terrible defence. I guess the main criticism you can have for HUghes is that he never assembled a good enough back four.
chaddyrovers Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 What a joke!!!!!!!! I hope they win f**k all. I would love hughes back! we would attack teams. we loss 4 key players fredial, santa cruz, bentley and warnock. that wouldnt have haapen if hughes was in charge. COME BACK HOME HUGHES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow.... that is the biggest pile of steaming @#/? ive ever read... They are 6th with a game in hand and in their first domestic semi final in 20 years.
bigbrandjohn Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 We can all dream but with maybe 5 million quid plus in his pocket he may want to re evaluate what he wants out of the game. Certainly not to come back to a club with no money unless he joins up with a rival Arab consortium to buy out the tight wads in Jersey. I think he may be done with Middle eastern promise for the moment though.
RoverRich Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 It does seem pretty harsh on Hughes especially how they went behind his back to get Mancini signed up before he had even left, then they just rubbed salt in his wounds with Mancini there at the game today. Looking at it though he must have known he was going. He was doing a decent job, nothing outstanding, but solid nonetheless, so to sack him in their current situation seems stupid. However, from a Rovers view, I do find it amusing how people dump this club thinking they are something special and too 'big-time' then go somewhere else, fail and find themselves on the scrapheap. If certain players and staff (we know who they are) had stayed, then we would be higher up the table, they would be playing and doing well, and everyone would be fairly content. As for would I have him back... looking at our current plight, I would say yes but it would have to be on our terms rather than his and I cannot see the club getting rid of Sam anytime soon. And for the record I could not see him coming back here anyway.
