Cally Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 If he goes to Everton it'll be a loan. I doubt Ian Wright would really announce on the radio where SWP is. Wouldn't surprise me with Everton, to be fair.

Paulsman Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 He was on Talksport briefly early this afternoon talking about SWP, and said that he's in Liverpool for talks but he would not be drawn on which club. It was just an over the phone thing I think.
Cally Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 Quite the coup if they get him on loan, as they certainly won't be paying for him.
gazsimm Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 shame Rovers are not intrested in SWP. i think he will be great for Rovers especially if its a loan deal, i rather have him then Pennant. SWP is a far better player.
Mr. E Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 I don't know, but we need someone TODAY. We're going down vs West Ham without one, that much is evident from 10 miles away.
Cally Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 Pennant is being a pain in the arse, either becasue he genuinely wants to stay or because his agent is pricing him out of a move. Knowing who he is that wouldn't surprise me. Regardless, he's been told he has no future at the club and will face the prospect of a season in the ressies.
dannyboy1206 Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 Surely we have £10M to rival Man City and Everton's bids the only thing we may struggle with is his wages but must be worth a go
Eddie Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 It seems a bit much for him and his wages are quite high, but he is without doubt a talented player. If he were two years younger I'd want us to jump at the deal, as it is, if we can force it down a million or two and if he is willing to take a pay-cut then we'd be getting a very good player. Can't see all that happening though.
RibbleValleyRover Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 Doubt he would come here, but I don't see the harm in making an enquiry.
gazsimm Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 SWP will be a great player for Rovers, It's just if we can afford his wages.
MaTTyWhAwEll Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 I Would welcome this with open arms but i suppose money and wage is always going to be an issue if it happens then well done Ince. =]
AussieinUk Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 Well, IF SWP did sign for Rovers (big bloody 'if' IMO), I would love to see Ian Wrights face after it was confirmed. He would certainly have to change his attitude towards us. Having said that, SWP at Rovers would make this a great window of business by PI Robinson Simpson Grella Villeneuva SWP JSC
Cally Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 Have to laugh at some of these valuations. 3.5 million for Penannt? And the rest. A player is only worth how much a club is prepared to pay, and with the TM up the wall at the minute, all clubs will have to over pay to get the player they want.

It's getting boring.
modes98 Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 3.5 million for Penannt? And the rest. A player is only worth how much a club is prepared to pay You have hit the nail on the head there. So who is coming in with this offer at over £3.5m? Clubs have had all summer to come in and get him, yet nobody has. He is worth what interested clubs will pay and you will accept. Rafa wants Riera and needs to sell to buy. We aren't going to pay over the top just to help you out, we obviously value him at less than your willing to accept yet. So he sits on the bench waiting for a game until January or next Summer, a great use of an asset.
donis1410 Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 I would pay 9 Million for a young player like SWP, he would play for us for a start and would give us that flair and chip in with the goals
socngill Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 I would pay 9 Million for a young player like SWP, he would play for us for a start and would give us that flair and chip in with the goals I thought SWP was something like 27?
modes98 Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 I would pay 9 Million for a young player like SWP, he would play for us for a start and would give us that flair and chip in with the goals So that's Shaun Wright-Phillips who is 27 in a month and who has scored 4 goals in 81 appearances for Chelsea. If your signing him then it must be for his pace.
begresko Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 Sorry to come back to milner. But aparently handed in transfer request. According to sky sports news...
robborover Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 I would pay 9 Million for a young player like SWP, he would play for us for a start and would give us that flair and chip in with the goals Which is why Paul Ince is manager As Modes says, SWP is neither young nor does he score that much. Go abroad and get a cheaper player with more potential.
Billy Castell Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 Sorry to come back to milner. But aparently handed in transfer request. According to sky sports news... Over to the Villa fans then.................... £9m is too steep, but I'd like him at £5-6m
leftfooter Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 Over to the Villa fans then.................... Indeed. Like the poor they are always in our midst...
A cup of beans Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 i dont rate milner at all and lennon and SWP are 2 of the most overated players in the entire premier league. i'd be gutted if we signed any of them. i'm hoping for either pennant /joaquin - another rabbit out of a hat.
roverfanuk Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 Milner has just handed in a transfer request at Newcastle... http://www.nufc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/NewsD...1376531,00.html Edit: Apologise, didnt see begresko's post. Oh well official confirmation added...
VillaSimon Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 Milner played very well last night, then again o'neill was there watching him, TBH I think Milner going to villa was always going to happen, I think b'burn will go for pennant personally, Joaquin is quality and if you guys got him he'd be a wow signing, swp is good but I see him coing back to man citeh
