tony gale's mic Posted April 28, 2009 Posted April 28, 2009 Leave him as backup. I can't see him going for too much money and he's definitely better than the options we have in reserve right now...

riverside returns Posted April 28, 2009 Posted April 28, 2009 give him the chance to show what he can do after a full pre season.
dave birch Posted April 28, 2009 Posted April 28, 2009 Leave him as backup. I can't see him going for too much money and he's definitely better than the options we have in reserve right now... That's about the best option, I reckon.
berkshireblue Posted April 28, 2009 Posted April 28, 2009 give him the chance to show what he can do after a full pre season. Our only option, Drogba was crap his first season
jim mk2 Posted April 28, 2009 Posted April 28, 2009 Our only option, Drogba was crap his first season Looking forward to Grella having the same impact as Drogba next season then..... I don't understand why a club with meagre resources like Rovers paid £4m (!!!) for an ageing player with a history of injuries. It doesn't make any sense. Grella needs to get a solid pre-season under his belt, toughen up and show his worth next season. Otherwise, goodbye.

OMG he says something sensible! I agree Jim, we have to give him a chance 1st, then decide. Personally I think he could become a decent player for us.

At the time according to Alan Nixon JW was concerned that Ince was not appearing to want to bring anybody in despite having money to spend.
alexanders Posted June 6, 2009 Posted June 6, 2009 Grella not at all happy with his first season in England and admits he have to pick up the pace and adjust to be on top of his game. Frustrating season for Grella
nicko Posted June 6, 2009 Posted June 6, 2009 At the time according to Alan Nixon JW was concerned that Ince was not appearing to want to bring anybody in despite having money to spend. I think the situation was that there was a concern about whether the manager knew what players he wanted to sign with the money he had available..plenty of trialists, players being watched etc...and time running out before the start of the season. Good to hear Grella's analysis of his first season. Encouraging that a player should see he was struggling to get to the speed of the game. Gives him a chance of putting it right when he sees the major problem. Well done to him for that.
Andy3809 Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 Watched Grella last night at the Melbourne cricket ground. Aus vs Japan. Looked very poor. Passing was awful to watch and he looked yards off the pace. And this was agaisn't a very average Japan midfield.. Didn't want to comment too soon as I hadn't seen him play with being in Aus but deary deary me... 4 million? He's not good enough.

In all seriousness, if we want to improve on last season, Grella and Andrews must be replaced. God help us if they are the midfield two. Pretty sure they wont be though. Here's hoping for a completely new central midfield.
joey_big_nose Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 There is no chance we can shift him so I guess we just need to see what Sam can do to get him up to standard. There have been moments where he has looked good enough, but few and far between. You have to say age and fitness are against him too.... Its sad to think that for the same sort of money we could have brought in the likes of Bradley or Cattermole....

It'll be good for Grella to get a few more games under his belt, has to help get him ready for next season to hit the ground running fitness wise. More and more I'm thinking Grella looks like a solid squad player - sadly at a first team star cost.
Kelbo Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 The real me ! He is confident. I am too. [/quote I agree, think this fella could be much better than people think, Bert as well says he's as good as anyone around with a great range of passing ability!! Hope Vince has a great season!!
broadsword Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 Injured again (hamstring this time). Must be made of glass.
Exiled_Rover Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 Yep, Ince bought a crock. I've been quite lenient in regards to Grella as he's always looked useful when he's played. He can't stay on the pitch though.
joey_big_nose Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 Injured again (hamstring this time). Must be made of glass. Your joking. Where did you see that?
Tris Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 It's on the official site. To be fair, BFS says it's a one or two day job, just a minor tweak. Not sure why people immediately want to turn it into a crisis by only posting half of the story.
Lathund Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 Because that's the BRFCS way? There's never good news, there's never bad news, only worse.

A cup of beans Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 if only the doom merchants were as patient with grella as they are with steven reid!
Hughesy Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 Minor knock for both him & Warnock - both back for Saturday. Stop worrying will you!
