G Somerset Rover Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 Just seen this..FFS..so predictable but so infuriating. He's only been back for one effin match!! The guy is a crock - end of. Dunn is a crock also. When these two are your best central midfielders you're going to struggle when they're constantly out. We were fortunate that Dunn put in 10 games in a row without being injured because we really would be in the royal sh!te right now had he not. The thing is these two are taking up high wages and are constantly out but the board are hardly going to let big sam go and sign replacements just because they're always injured. Big decisions coming up for Sam in January. Return of Keef on Boxing Day then. Bleddy hell.

frosty Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 I am wodering which is a worse buy out of Andrews (who is rubbish but always fit and only cost 1m) or Grella (who is okay/good but only has managed about 30% of games since he joined, and cost 4m)....
JAL Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 I am wodering which is a worse buy out of Andrews (who is rubbish but always fit and only cost 1m) or Grella (who is okay/good but only has managed about 30% of games since he joined, and cost 4m).... Equal ! End result £6m down the drain what great management from Rovers!
Backroom DE. Posted December 23, 2009 Backroom Posted December 23, 2009 I can't believe we've had Grella over a year now and we still don't really know how good or bad he is because he is injured so often. If he'd been fit for a sustained period I think we would have a much stronger midfield and Grella may have adapted and flourished at Premier League level. However, his appearances are so infrequent that it's basically back to square-one each time he starts a match (and then gets injured again).
Fylde Coast Fan Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 Grella is a worse buy than Andrews IMO. Keith is out of his depth in the Premier League but he tries his best and it's not his fault he was signed. Grella has cost an awful lot more, is almost certainly on far higher wages and we've barely seen him.
Miker Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 We've seen him quite a few times this season and he's been very good for the majority of games he's played. I think it's unfortunate he got injured when he came here, as he hasn't been injury prone in the past. He's definitely better than Andrews. If he was fit for a longer period of games then we would have a quality central midfielder in our team. It's a shame Dunn and Grella can't get a run of games together due to their fitness because they would be a great core for any team.
RibbleValleyRover Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 I think he's been pretty decent when he has played, problem is as soon as he starts to get a run in the side he gets another small injury that sidelines him for a game or more. Really hard to build up some form and consistency when you play one week and don't feature the next.
super_arran Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 When they put him togther down at the rehabilitation centre, they lost a couple of his washers. He's now held together with gaffer tape and a couple of half-chewed blackjacks. I honestly think he should be re-paying some of his wages. I hope he's blinking embarrassed by the rate at whioch he's got injured. No I'm sure he'll be delighted
Hughesy Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 To be fair he has looked decent when fit - its just the little niggles that are stop starting his rovers career. Hope they can sort it out this time! He is much better than Andrews, Diouf, MGP or Roberts anyway!!
broadsword Posted December 24, 2009 Posted December 24, 2009 No I'm sure he'll be delighted Bitchy little thing, intcha? There's quite a few players out there I'm sure who have no qualms about picking up their pay cheques whilst being chronically injured or under-performing or sitting on the bench. You're full of tedious tart little remarks.

You're full of tedious tart little remarks. Not really.... Just thought I'd put my opinion across that Grella doesn't look (or act) like a player who doesn't give a toss. When he plays; he usually gives 100%, then when you see him injured he looks devastated....Just my observation tho. But to imply that he'd be happy just sitting at home with his feet up not bothered about playing is quite frankly daft. Hense the
thenodrog Posted December 24, 2009 Posted December 24, 2009 Not really.... Just thought I'd put my opinion across that Grella doesn't look (or act) like a player who doesn't give a toss. Infact when he plays he usually gives 100%, then when you see him injured he looks devastated....Just my observation tho. And mine too arran.

G Somerset Rover Posted December 24, 2009 Posted December 24, 2009 He's out for 3 more weeks. Great huh?
47er Posted December 24, 2009 Posted December 24, 2009 He's out for 3 more weeks. Great huh? 1 game a month! Well he did tell us we'd see the real Vince Grella this season!
Stuart Posted December 24, 2009 Posted December 24, 2009 We should forget signing any new players and spend what money we have bringing back Mark Bowen and Co. I'm sure they could do wonders for Vince and Dunny. They may have left under a bit of a cloud with Hughes but this time of the year is the time for forgiveness!
Majiball Posted December 24, 2009 Posted December 24, 2009 Bowen would have to replace McDonald, there's no way he woud take just a coaching role. The only one of them we really need is Roden he's the best english applied sports scientist in the league and him and our physio's are the main reason the likes of RSC stayed fit. Roden and Howard worked together at Notlob so its possible. I'd really like us to go out and get in a coach with some attacking flair, say from Brazil or the likes a team/country that habitually play attacking football. If we can't go out and sign a player to resolve our goal-scoring issues perhaps the board will stretch to a coach or two instead.
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted December 24, 2009 Posted December 24, 2009 1 game a month! Well he did tell us we'd see the real Vince Grella this season! Grella and Andrews have been absolutely disasterous signings for for us. We could have had Lee Cattermole and we got these two turkeys. Thank you Mr Ince.

There's quite a few players out there I'm sure who have no qualms about picking up their pay cheques whilst being chronically injured or under-performing or sitting on the bench. You're full of tedious tart little remarks. It's not like it's his fault for getting injured constantly. Speaking from experience, sometimes it's very hard to get over an injury and no matter how much you try or how many different things you try, your legs just can't handle it. Trust me, you feel more frustrated than pleased with yourself. Grella spent his entire life on football, he was one of the youngest people to join the AIS down here where they spend 8-9 hours a day doing nothing but practicing. You don't give it your all to have a footballing career to then be happy to just suffer injuries the entire time. They're not pleasant.
Backroom DE. Posted December 24, 2009 Backroom Posted December 24, 2009 We've seen him quite a few times this season and he's been very good for the majority of games he's played. I think it's unfortunate he got injured when he came here, as he hasn't been injury prone in the past. That's not actually true. His one season with Torino was inturrupted by various injuries. Before that he played 90+ games for Parma over 3 seasons, which we're almost certainly not going to get out of him here. Parma let him go on a free - what was the reason for that? He wasn't old and had been their captain that season... seems strange that they let his contract expire. Were they in financial difficulties?

Parma at least i think went into melt down and relgation to seria B at one stage in recent history?
den Posted December 24, 2009 Posted December 24, 2009 It's not like it's his fault for getting injured constantly. This last one was his fault. If he had made contact with the ball instead of wafting at air, odds are that he wouldn't have pulled that thigh muscle.
LDRover Posted December 24, 2009 Posted December 24, 2009 Ah well, Vinny G out for the xmas period with a broken flask. Waste of space.
tcj_jones Posted December 24, 2009 Posted December 24, 2009 Such a shame. He looks a good little player when fit and actually on the field. Grella, N'Zonzi and Dunn would make a really good CM combination, but the former and latter just cannot stay fit for long enough. Relying on a CM of Andrews and N'Zonzi will be very costly over Christmas.
Amo Posted December 24, 2009 Posted December 24, 2009 It's sod's law that our three useful midfielders Dunn, Reid & Grella are all made out of breadsticks.
