Backroom DE. Posted February 17, 2010 Backroom Posted February 17, 2010 Did he have a history of injuries before he came here? His spell at Torino was inturrupted numerous times by injury... I don't think he was too bad before then. But then I'm just going by wikipedia.

Majiball Posted February 19, 2010 Posted February 19, 2010 Vince, Every-time you near a come back, the same story comes out. For gods sake stop telling us all how unlucky you are and how sorry you are about being injured and do your talking on the pitch.

It wouldn't surprise me if he'd sprained his thumb in the coin toss last tuesday.
John Posted February 21, 2010 Posted February 21, 2010 Still in the ice bath now apparently. Think he came through unscathed today.
Backroom DE. Posted February 21, 2010 Backroom Posted February 21, 2010 I'm glad Vince found the time to play for us today. Hopefully he can do this more often in the future.
Ozz Posted February 21, 2010 Posted February 21, 2010 He was out early for the second half, doing a lot of warming up. This may need to be the norm for Vinny.
Majiball Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 He was out early for the second half, doing a lot of warming up. This may need to be the norm for Vinny. If its what he needs. Read a paper a while back on staying warm at half-time, was interesting to read that when they did keep warm and not just sat down listening, that they managed more sprints and covered more distance in the second half. makes a lot of sense, 15 minutes is easily enough time to reduce muscle temp back to zero meaning that most teams start the second half cold.
The Rover of Finland Posted March 8, 2010 Posted March 8, 2010 Here we go again! Grella injured. Oh dear.
John Posted March 8, 2010 Posted March 8, 2010 Its just not happening for him: VINCE Grella has suffered another injury set back after being withdrawn from Blackburn Rovers' reserves starting line-up after suffering an injury in the warm-up.
thenodrog Posted March 8, 2010 Posted March 8, 2010 I like what Grella brings to the team when he plays. He's a bit Battyesque imo. BUT if he was a horse he'd have been shot long ago. Shame but it's time to get rid if at all possible and free up his wages. Nobody will buy him so I guess we need to get him written off by some orthopaedic consultant or other in order to draw the insurance money for him.
tcj_jones Posted March 8, 2010 Posted March 8, 2010 I wonder how many years Ince signed him up for. Wouldn't be surprised if he gave him a nice fat eight year deal.
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted March 8, 2010 Posted March 8, 2010 We've had one or two crocks over the years but this guy is taking "crock" to a new, previously undreamed of level.
bennyboyt11 Posted March 8, 2010 Posted March 8, 2010 The decent thing for him to do would be say half my wages until I play more than 2 games in a row.
T4E Posted March 8, 2010 Posted March 8, 2010 I honestly think Grella improves us as a team when he plays. This is very bad news. Do we have the worst record in the league for this sort of thing?
Amo Posted March 8, 2010 Posted March 8, 2010 The decent thing for him to do would be say half my wages until I play more than 2 games in a row. Yeah, that'll happen... It's frustrating because he's one of our better players, but in that sense at least there's an outside chance someone else will take a gamble on him sooner or later.

Of course I know he wouldn't, just sickens me that Rovers just pay out for players who don't even play.
tcj_jones Posted March 8, 2010 Posted March 8, 2010 For what it's worth, I like Grella a lot. He's the nearest thing we've had to Savage since he left the club and he's the type of player every club wants. He gives us some bite in midfield, and makes us harder to play against. Unfortunately, when you get to Grella's age and have such chronic injury problems, you know your career is as good as over. In all likelihood, he will continue to play a few games at a time, before breaking down again and again. I feel for him, because it's exactly how I feel right now
LeChuck Posted March 8, 2010 Posted March 8, 2010 I honestly think Grella improves us as a team when he plays. This is very bad news. Do we have the worst record in the league for this sort of thing? I'm sure somebody posted stats of results with/without Grella, and they didn't look at all good for Vince. I like some of his attributes, but he's too slow to put them to use most of the time. He's going to be a lasting reminder of Ince's incompetence until someone is stupid enough to take him off us...or, as I suspect, his contract runs out.
Exiled_Rover Posted March 8, 2010 Posted March 8, 2010 I wonder how many years Ince signed him up for. Wouldn't be surprised if he gave him a nice fat eight year deal. Four year deal.
Backroom DE. Posted March 8, 2010 Backroom Posted March 8, 2010 There must be something very wrong with him to be injured this much. He's clearly in no condition whatsoever to play a professional sport. Injured during a warm up ffs. The worst thing is, the longer he's out, the bigger his supposed "influence" on us will become, until he comes back and shows that he's actually not THAT good and then gets injured or sent off once again to compound our disappointment.
