Ant Posted April 6, 2010 Posted April 6, 2010 to be honest we don't need him. We have the turkish guy and the young french lad so even if it was a long lay off I doubt we would miss him
Hughesy Posted April 7, 2010 Posted April 7, 2010 to be honest we don't need him. We have the turkish guy and the young french lad so even if it was a long lay off I doubt we would miss him We have no choice - he is always injured!!! To be honest I think if he can stay fit for the rest of the season, we want to see if anyone really is interested in him in the summer & get some cash back before its too late on him. We cant have passengers in our squad!
imy9 Posted April 7, 2010 Posted April 7, 2010 Flip side of the coin is that we have spent over 4 million on him and paid him about 35k a week for two years, we have not got value for money thus far but it is because of injuries, surely it would make more sense to keep him as we will not see 4 mill for him and it will cost a bit to replace him.

You could replace him with a training cone for how useful he has been in the last two years.
Amo Posted April 7, 2010 Posted April 7, 2010 He shouldn't even be playing in the reserves. Give him the rest of the season off and hope he's raring for the WC.
LeChuck Posted April 7, 2010 Posted April 7, 2010 He shouldn't even be playing in the reserves. Give him the rest of the season off and hope he's raring for the WC. Agree with that. Grella having a good World Cup is probably our only hope of being able to shift him and get money back, although quite how he'll play games in quick succession I'm not sure...
Blue blood Posted April 9, 2010 Posted April 9, 2010 Agree with that. Grella having a good World Cup is probably our only hope of being able to shift him and get money back, although quite how he'll play games in quick succession I'm not sure... Quite how he'll play a game is beyond me. If he does make it to the world cup I reckon he'll be limping off 35 minutes into the first game he plays as per. A knock of knees forces you off? Maybe I'm beign harsh but that sounds like your everyday physical football encounter, not something with which to be subbed for. Mind you with Grella I can understand them taking every precaution.
DanLad Posted April 9, 2010 Posted April 9, 2010 I bet he plays every minute of every game for Oz. I can see this happening, too. You've got to wonder if there's something wrong with his training regime. Is it making him particularly susceptible to certain types of injury? I appreciate he might just be a crock!
Tim Southampton Rover Posted April 9, 2010 Posted April 9, 2010 I bet he plays every minute of every game for Oz. ...and then get injured in pre-season training.
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted April 9, 2010 Posted April 9, 2010 Sell him in the close season, cant believe the pillock Ince paid a reported 4 million for this walking sick note.
Amo Posted April 9, 2010 Posted April 9, 2010 ...and then get injured in pre-season training. So long as we find a buyer before then, who cares.
pg Posted April 9, 2010 Posted April 9, 2010 I'm amazed that the 'hard man' of the Aussie midfield...with such a distinguished career in Seria A...has turned into a big sicknote.
broadsword Posted April 9, 2010 Posted April 9, 2010 A knock of knees forces you off? Maybe he was forced off because he's got knockl knees instead????
yellowsubmarine Posted April 9, 2010 Posted April 9, 2010 I think Grella is a pretty decent and useful player whenever he plays. But he plays too little to my liking!
Balwer Posted April 9, 2010 Posted April 9, 2010 to be honest we don't need him. We have the turkish guy and the young french lad so even if it was a long lay off I doubt we would miss him You mean the Turkish guy who hasn't been fit since he got here, who's missed the past 5 reserves matches? The one who has played 32 competitive matches since 2006? Or do you mean the young French guy Linganzi who has played three career first team football matches and not made a single first team appearance since he got here? Completely disregarding the fact that neither plays the same sort of role that Grella does.
roversmum Posted April 9, 2010 Posted April 9, 2010 Perhaps Vince ought to be thinking of a more academic career, he could be doing some studying whilst he's injured. On second thoughts, though, picking up a pen will robably sustain a wrist injury ...
Balwer Posted April 9, 2010 Posted April 9, 2010 As constructive as the recent spate of comments have been, the news reports indicate that Vince will be fit to play on Sunday.
Kelbo Posted April 9, 2010 Posted April 9, 2010 Speaking to my mate in Aus, who is very close to Ed and Fran Neill (Lucas Neills parents) they tell me Grella is a top player and has never suffered injuries to thios degree before, if he can keep his fitness, they say he will be the best defensive midfielder in the prem by a mile, Now knowing Bry (my mate) who is also a coach and an ex player who played with me in Leicester Citys junior sides, they wont be far wrong!!
Backroom DE. Posted April 9, 2010 Backroom Posted April 9, 2010 His injury problems seem to have started the season before we bought him. Before then he seems to have been a fairly consistant performer.
S15 Posted April 9, 2010 Posted April 9, 2010 So Vinny is better than Essien when he's fit? A mile better at that? Tell Neill's parents they're talking out of their arses.

Alright Vince?
Tim Southampton Rover Posted April 9, 2010 Posted April 9, 2010 they say he will be the best defensive midfielder in the prem by a mile [Thinks to himself] Essien, Mascherano, Parker... [/Thinks to himself] yep, he'll definately be the best by a mile
