No because I don't get upset at other people's opinions but there are plenty who have an agenda and who refuse to change their opinions even if the evidence is there to show they are wrong. It's a bit like the flat earth society.

I see so can we all assume that Big Sam will be getting a Valentines card from you next Feb?

It's not just his.

Correct......... if Philip ever knew anything important then he'd never be able to resist informing us all.

You're a good poster Gumboots and I enjoy reading your posts, - but there is a closed mind if you can't accept criticism of the club/Ince above what you consider reasonable, but can accept praise in abundance.

This isn't aimed at you GB, it's just as much a point to people who only want to hear nice things. I'll leave it there.

I agree with GB that there seems to be posters on here who won't be happy until PI fails.

Personally I wanted Laudrup - but am willing to give Ince a chance.

On the negative side - I think Ince's tactics have been at times naive - but full credit to him at the weekend for getting his subs right.

On the positive side - I think there is a more confident air about some of the players. Youngsters seem nurtured and encouraged (no more evident than in the Grimsby match). Though I am desperate to see Carlos start in the first team - Ince has to be commended for not rushing him in just to keep the fickle fans happy (which would have been the easy option).

Two major contentious issues :-

1. Fowler - well, given a choice of putting on Fowler or Derbs - he made the right choice - maybe he has Fowler here for the right reasons ! Still not totally convinced.

2. Andrews - we will only see how much of an old pals act this is when everyone is fit. I do see aspects in his game that are encouraging - if only he was a little younger I would be more convinced. But he hasn't been awful - and we didn't pay a ridiculous amount for him (I also dare say his wages are considerably lower than a foreign import would have been).

We have to take gambles on up and coming managers - we can't afford or attract a ready made top level manager. Ince's record (though short) in the lower leagues was unbelievable - and possibly worthy of a gamble.

Ince is not comfortable with a camera in front of him. He says the wrong things he needs coaching. It's up to JW and the communications team at Rovers to sort this.

I wish that John Williams and the communications team would hurry up and give Ince some of the media training that he desperately needs.

At the moment he's frankly an embarrassment in front of the camera. For his interview with Sky Sports after the Fulham game on Saturday I counted twenty-two "you knows" from Ince in an interview that lasted less than two and a half minutes.

No other British-born manager in the Premiership is as painfully inarticulate as Paul Ince. Twenty-two "you knows" in just 2 minutes and 27 seconds is the sort of thing one might expect from an inarticulate oaf like Frank Bruno or a dense Essex chav like David Beckham, but when somebody is representing my football club as the Blackburn Rovers manager I don't like such inarticulacy and I feel it reflects badly on our football club.

You can judge for yourself by watching the Sky Sports interview I'm referring to in the link below. At first there's an annoyingly loud commercial, followed by the annoyingly embarrassing Paul Ince.

FFS get a grip! I couldn't give a flying monkeys if Paul Ince said a million "you knows" after a game as long as we got 3 points! Ever noticed how boring Sparky is now he isn't a Rovers manager? Your probably the only one on here that cares about his "you knows". Let the guy get on with his job. His job is to get us 3 points on a Saturday afternoon and thats what he did last Saturday, so give the guy a break!

I wonder if Ince is going to get any financial backing in the transfer market or whether he will be kept on starvation rations? So far he has spent less than £5m and (I would hope) that is no more than Hughes transfer budget would have been. That means there is the Hughes compensation money (net of Ince) plus about £9 from the Bentley sale.

If this is not handed over Rovers will be the only club in the PL with a negative transfer budget season this season. There is only way place that can lead to...........

That works both ways though Den. There are posters on here who post when things are going badly and have slated Ince and his management team (in fact did so before a ball was kicked in anger) but will disappear when results are good.

Ince is not above reproach or criticism but when he is blamed for everything from signings it is ridiculous and I think that is what Gumboots is saying.

Interestingly Ince has been slated for signing Andrews but has recieved little/no credit for Carlos who (without a shadow of a doubt) would not be here if Hughes was in charge.

Exactly. I find myself being almost pushed into the pro Ince camp if one exists just because of the ridiculous amounts of blame that some people seem to want to give him. I don't know yet if he's going to be any good for us. I hope so because I'm not convinced that chopping and changing managers does any good either, but I don't think he's above criticism and we should all only say nice things about him either. I just want to see him given credit when it's due and criticism only when he is actually directly responsible for something that goes wrong. And no theno I won't be sending Mr Allardyce a valentine's card but then everyone's entitled to one illogical hatred and he happens to be mine. It's just a pity that there are lots of people who have picked on Ince as theirs all at the same time.

I think he has spent £4 mill on Grella, £1 mill for Robinson and whatever we have paid for Andrews. So, he has already spent more on one player than MH was ever able to do and there is the prospect of another £ 5 mill in January fpr Carlos. Plus extra monies he might spend on a replacement for DB.

I'd like to think there's no 'might' about it. It'll be a major u turn by the club if there is no replacement bearing in mind we've 'kept our powder dry' in the summer transfer window.

So with the Carlos fee now out in the open we can see that our manager has had quite a bit to spend;

Carlos - £5M

Grella - £4M

Robbo - £3.5M

Andrews - £1M (possibly 2)

So £13.5M spent by a rookie manager inside his first 3 months at the club, which is a sizable chunk for us (nearly 4 years of season tickets?).

On the flip side he has recouped;

Spud boy - £9M

Brad - £4M

£13M in sales, add this to the net Ince / Hughes change (£2M?) and we see once again we have spent naff all in reality.

Have we got good enough replacements for superstar Dave B (Carlos?) and Big Brad (Robbo?) only time will tell, for me I think the squad is still lacking quality in midfield (Andrews and Grella please prove me wrong) and although we have more midfielders the team it is very exposed at right back and right midfield and this is where we should strengthen - ideally on the wing (Bert is a better RB than winger).

But the good news is we should still have money to spend.

I thorght there was a clause that states we have to pay £3.5million for CV.

Is the 5 mill inclusive of monies already payed for the loan and wages for the loan?

There is clause that states we have to pay £3.5million for CV.

If you're also following the Villanueva postings, you'll see the JW quote that signing Carlos would cost us "almost £5 mill" from today's LT. There is no further info about what it comprises i.e. wages etc.
