Not in his first 6 months he didn't, apart from a very early cameo at Bolton. Carlos has looked much more exciting in his early stages than did the next Beckham.

Carlos looked exciting against a poor Fourth Division club. Against Bolton Reserves he looked short of pace and was withdrawn. At Newcastle he again looked short of pace and many of his passes went astray - the one that led to the penalty being a prime example and again he was withdrawn. He has talent and undoubtedly was very successful in Chile but the jury is out with regard to the Premier League. English football now requires a certain level of physical strength and stamina to play in the position that Carlos plays and at the moment he simply doesn't have that. Like Pedersen, I suspect he will be used sparingly over the coming months until they can work on the physical side of his game.

3 questions: how many points did we get for this in your face attitude against the big 4; where was it under Hughes when we played the other 15 teams, and how has our attitude been in the other 7 games we have played this season?

2 maulings against the top 4 wasn't great or inspiring to watch, but to me is not indicative of a deeper malaise.

The deeper malaise is not the defeat but the speed that heads dropped after going goals down in both matches! To anybody who was there that is an undeniable fact. Last year we gritted our teeth, dug in and fought back for a point v the Arse after going a goal down. This year that was never going to happen.

That is the difference and no matter whatever anyone else thinks imo it is a bloody big one!

If we hadnt come back from 2 quick goals against Everton and held on against Newcastle I would agree that there is an issue that will affect our season. Heads dropping against the top 4 is disappointing but nothing more

Say what you want but it's not something Ewood's faithful are used to EiT.

You need to get some mates who know about football then. You might stop posting rubbish on here if you do.

I am not arrogant enough to think my mates or myself know more about football than anyone else but I can read:

http://www.footballdatabase.com/index.php?...Douglas_Bellamy

Before he joined Rovers Craig Bellamy had NEVER scored more than 9 league goals in ANY season, is that a prolific striker?

"My mates were texting me about what a liability Bellamy was, a player who had pace but could not finish"

So which part of my statement is rubbish? The liability part I could substantiate with Bellamy refusing to play for Newcastle on the wing, his fights with Bobby or his trouble with the law but you know that already dont you?

Since leaving Rovers Bellamy has scored no more than 7 league goals for Liverpool and West Ham.

I am not saying he wasn't good.

He was brilliant.

What I am saying is that 99% of Blackburn fans didn't know how good he was when we signed him. To describe him as a signing that really energised everybody involved with the club is just laughable.

Agreed 100% with you, a lot of revisionist history occuring on these boards at the moment. ;)

How would you describe the football at Ewood last season? This is a genuine question by the way.

OK

Solid mostly but a mixed bag at times. A few abberations and some top performances. The Newcastle match was an example of both in one match. Poor but lucky v Boro, Sland and Everton, plucky and strong v Arsenal, Superb match v Man U, unlucky to have 10 men most of the match v Villa, good performances v Reading, Wigan, Lpool, Spurs, City, Notlob. Lost fair and square to Chelsea, Fulham and Pompey. Derby crap.

Poor home cup performances helped to form opinions imo. But I guess that some of our best results were away from home.

Some want away players of course mainly because they could not get in the team but imo the squad had a stronger collective mentality than this season. Nobody enjoyed coming here but I think that reputation is becoming a little threadbare now.

Hope that dispels the myth that some are perpetuating now that Mark Hughes's teams played more boring football than teams under a combined management of Don Howe and Jim Iley. Fact is that we finished 7th and most seasons would be travelling aroud Europe now.

I think Hughes attempted to play attacking football, but ultimately found out that with the players and resources he had that he could not do this (of course he brought in a lot of these players, but with a tiny transfer budget, beggars cannot be choosers).

The Fulham game this season showed that sometimes 'entertaining football' does not win you matches..........

Thanks for taking the time to reply in detail. I didn't see all the games but I don't disagree with your assessment. You missed out the only league match I actually managed to attend at Ewood........West Ham - you can put that one in the crap basket too. I got to Wigan away - also awful. Yes we must make Ewood an unpleasant experience for visiting teams again - give it time. I was a Hughes fan until he left - and now I am an Ince fan. Some managers are harder to love than others........but I am pretty confident that you will come round eventually.

I think you you can add Reading to Newcastle in the Jeckyll and hyde stakes. 3-0 up at half time and hung on desperately at the end. Also Derby, we had to wait for us going one down before coming back strongly to win 3-1.

We did not lose to Fulham it ended 1-1, Jimmy Bullard equalising late on.

Bar some supurb goalkeeping, we werelucky against Man Utd. Could not have complained if game ended 4-1.

Nelson was sent off after 52 mins against Villa so we did not play most of the game with 10 men. To hide behind that hides the fact we were rubbish against them.

Against Liverpool and Everton we were also lucky. A very bad offical decision denied Everton a win and Liverpool dominated.

So in conclusion.. it does not dispel the myth about hughes. It was a fact that Hughes' team mostly played boring football.

Chris Nathaniel, who has been acting as spokesman for the Nigerian consortium, did not return the Chronicle’s call today, the word in Lagos is that the planned takeover of United is very much on.

And I understand that a representative of the Nigerian consortium has contacted both Paul Ince and Blackburn about the possibility of the former England international taking over as manager at St James’s Park, should their takeover be successful.

Both Ince and Rovers chairman John Williams have been made aware of this, but neither party is likely to make any comment.

If Adenuga is not involved, I cannot see there being a Nigerian purchase of Newcastle so that new Ince to Newcastle story is almost certainly groundless.

Besides which alan Oliver wrote the article and on principle i never believe any article with his name on it.

I heard it on Radio Lancs today at 4:30!

Spot the spelling mistake in the report!

"It's always hard when *your in and out [of the team] but in modern-day football you have three or four players for each position and it is tough."

* you're

What I win?
