80s russ Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 For the sake of all things sane, I urge the board to act now, get rid of Ince and his dads army assistants before we are scrapping to stay in the league. The man is clearly out of his depth, constant changing of formations and tactics, a different 11 each game, the inexpicable dropping of Pederson, the purchase of Andrews, Fowler, the list could go on and on. Why dont you know your best team? Where is the passion Ince, the fight and the spirit, player fitness, how many niggly strain and muscle injuries did we have under Hughes. Your best is not good enough
Amo Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 I'm not proposing Ince should be sacked, but new managers are supposed to inspire hope and potential and I don't feel confident with Ince at the helm. The way he conducts himself, his tactics, and his transfer policy, all have me uneasy.

philipl Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 Well it makes WBA a BIG game now. With Spurs and Newcastle recovering, that bottom is going to come rushing up to catch any team in a sticky patch. Incidentally, has Paul Ince once acknowledged that he took over a team that only missed out on a European place in the last game of last season?
80s russ Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 Besides the fact he's been ###### for two years? I'm not going to get into the rest of the post because it's just nonsense. A Pederson in poor form, which this discussion is not about, is my humble opinion worth at least a place on the bench and I am sure other fans will agree, is and will always be a better option to have involved than Andrews and Treacy.
BRFC4Life Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 Well after tonights defeat, its clear ince is out of his depth, the defence is getting worse and he's either doing nothing about it or not capable of doing anything about it, playing with 1 striker isnt working and a central midfield comprising of a left back and a league 2 Andrews is only gonna get us relegated. Grella is a waste of time if he's gonna play 1 game and then miss the next month. Time for him to go if we lose against WBA.
BuckyRover Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 He won't be sacked unless we are in the bottom 3 in February. That is my guess. Changing managers now is not really a viable or sensible option. Luckily we have a sensible board that isn't going to make rash decision. There are many positive signs. I thought we would lose to Villa tonight, I am happy we, by all accounts, were much the better team. That is something to build on. If we were getting spanked every week that would be a different story, but we aren't (yet )
Amo Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 I thought we would lose to Villa tonight, I am happy we, by all accounts, were much the better team. Yeah, it's not like we might need those points if we're in a relegation scrap, eh? Wake up, people.
ABBEY Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 your happy because you thought we would lose and we were the better team? its something to build on...brainwashed ,clueless or naiive! WE LOST WHAT THE HELL IS THERE TO BE HAPPY ABOUT FOR GODS SAKE.....L.................O...............S.................T 2 POINTS FROM 9 4 POINTS FROM THE DROP SPOT AYE ITS A BED OF ROSES AND ALL IS WELL...KEEP IT UP WE ARE PROUD OF THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 I don't subscribe to your theory, the better team is the team that scores the most goals.
BuckyRover Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 No it's not perfect. It is not a brilliant start. But what good what sacking a manager do now? He would still have the same players to work with. We have to wait till January and assess where we are then. We aren't lacking in confidence we are just struggling to find that killer instinct. It will come. I am still confident we scored a last minute goal against Boro, that shows a degree of mental strength. The players heads don't go down when we concede. It will take time, but that was our first defeat in 3 games and there are plenty of worse teams around us. I do agree that West Brom is now a big game (but I still wouldn't sack the manager if we lost) Spurs under Ramos always looked like losing as soon as they conceded, we don't and that is defintely a positive.
John Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 Think there is too many knee-jerk reactions, which everyone is prone to. Must remember, we have a pretty bad injury list at the moment which is not helping.
BuckyRover Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 I still remember the "Hughes out" threads I suppose. It just takes time. The people who want to support him will just have to deal with the criticism and ride it out I suppose. All part of being a football fan. At least I wasn't born a Spurs fan, small mercies
bubblerrovers Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 Talk of sacking Ince is pure crazy, i'm no fan of his thats for sure but he must be given untill Xmas. I was against his appointment from the start and have been given so much abuse on this board for stating my feelings, If we lose on Saturday tho i'll be very keen to hear the pro Ince fan clubs views.

It'll probably be along the lines of: - We played well, we just need some luck. - Ince isn't to blame. - Larissa/Coventry. And so on...
Blue n White Rover Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 your happy because you thought we would lose and we were the better team? its something to build on...brainwashed ,clueless or naiive! Why not look at it that way?
BuckyRover Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 It is hard to see the positive side of anything in East Lancs
T4E Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 2 POINTS FROM A EUROPEAN SPOT!!! Why not look at it that way? Because it's not true. How have you come to that conclusion??
Blue n White Rover Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 Because it's not true. How have you come to that conclusion?? Pompey in 7th place are on 14 points, Rovers in 13th are on 12 points. 14 - 12= 2 doesn't it? Most likely this year a top four club will win the FA Cup or Carling Cup meaning another European place up for grabs. What all managers outside the top 4 assume.
LeChuck Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 How the hell can you say 7th is a European spot when we finished 7th last season?! Isn't this the last year of the Intertoto as well? So that would rule 6th out too. 5th is the only guarantee European spot, you can't go claiming things like that based on wild (and probably inaccurate) assumptions.
T4E Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 Only 5th gets UEFA by rights. Top 4 clubs would have to win BOTH the FA and Carling cups for 7th to get European football. Last season only 5th got in, so it's by no means guaranteed. At this moment in time, we're 8 points off Europe.
ABBEY Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 2 POINTS FROM A EUROPEAN SPOT!!! Why not look at it that way? hand on heart time do you really think we are any where near good enough for europe?
