:rover: watch the 2nd goal last night,he was stood watching :brfc:

2nd goal last night was down to Ooijer from where I was sat waggy.

3rd goal we carelessly lost possession when we were pushing up looking for the equaliser and the whole team got caught on the back foot.

:rover: you are becoming a complete tool den, bentarse and friedal would have gone if st mark was here :brfc:

Waggy, you must cope with the facts a bit better. Hughes had already told Bents he was staying and had the backing of JW. :)

Now if you have evidence to the contrary............?

Minus the two he sold Waggy.

den, even if we accept your solution that we should have forced an unhappy Bentley to stay, do you not think we're infinitely better off with Robinson than Friedel?

As for DB I reckon we'd only have had the pre Redknapp Spurs version in any event.

Had he?

Where's the evidence that that was the case?

Robinson has done well Rev, can't argue with that. Not been tested too much TBH, but he's done OK.

Bentley would have knuckled down once the season began.

you are a fool, Bentley and Brad wanted to leave Rovers, for different reasons, Ince had no choice but to sell them. Even if Hughes stayed as our manager, Bentley and Brad would of still gone. Blackburn Rovers could not afford to keep them Den.

What did you think of Andrews last night anyway Den???????????

Instead of resorting to name calling Gaz, back up what you say about Hughes changing his mind with Bentley please, and while you're at it explain why rovers could not afford to keep him.

Andrews? Why ask me, I didn't go, hence no opinion.

Den, when will you ever learn.

Stop flogging a dead horse. The Rovers "fans" will unite against your diatribe. People are seeing it for what it is. Baseless

Factual Bucky, factual.

Waggy said Ince is stuck with Hughes team 'til January. - Not true. He's sold Friedel and Bentley. He's bought Andrews, Fowler, Robinson, Villanueva and Simpson [both on loan]. That's not Hughes's team.

Sorry if it doesn't fit with your agenda.

he got the same pompy team waggy becasue pompy are £126m in debt, have to find £60m for the new stadia, have to cut a 95% wage turnover ratio and have to find a backer willing to underwrite the debts.

Not to mention selling players on the cards.

Pompy are going to have to do some wheeling and dealing just to even survive this season monetary wise

Not a valid argument with regards to Bentley.

The replacement for Bentley is a small cash surplus as opposed to a completely manageable overdraft had he stayed.

You just need to read the press at the time to see that Rovers were willing to do a Gareth Barry on Bentley. Ince completely agreed then suddenly changed his mind.

Losing Bentley has probably already dropped us at least 5 points and with everything pointing to the middle of the League bunching up this season, that could already easily have cost us £3m in lost prize money at the end of the season.

Had he stayed, it would have been bumpy (see Gareth Barry at Villa- we actually had none of the stuff they went through for weeks on end) but once Capello got to selecting his England squads Bentley would have brought himself out of the cold. Certainly by the end of August he would already be looking foolish at wanting to join a club bottom of the Prem.

Selling Bentley was a big boo boo and we have not got and are not likely to get the full £17m any time soon.

Especially as we made letting big Brad go conditional upon signing Robbo; we should at the very least have had an equivalent player to Bentley signed before letting him go.

1st of all Den Brad wanted one last challange and wanted one last big pay day, which Rovers could not afford to offer him.

Bentley wanted to move from Rovers to further his career and challange for trophies, Rovers could not guarantee that to him because quite simply we are not a bigger enough club to throw money at top star players to help them come to Ewood, to make Rovers a force in the Prem again.

Why did Hughes leave us Den??? And as for Andrews he was one of our best players last night and yes Ince bought him to Rovers!!!!

season two?

push on...???? surely we should be doing this now????

or am I to believe that ince becoming our manager means we now have no ambition?

The problem with going over this old ground over and over is that there will never be a point where those that say Ince had no choice and those that say he had will meet. We don't know for certain what went on behind the scenes but it does appear that Bentley caused no end of problems, way more than Barry did and that is probably why he was sold. There have been many commentators/journalists saying that you have no choice but to get rid of a disruptive and disrespectful player. I just wish this wasn't used constantly to bash Ince and was left alone. Bentley is long gone. End of.

Bentley had allready made his mind up even before Ince had took charge at Rovers. It will be intresting to see how much Ince gets to spend in January, regarding how much money Rovers have actually got. I think deep down Rovers were allways going to sell Bentley at the right price, which in the end they eventually got

January will be the answer to that Abbey, when the transfer window opens again.

was it not open in july /aug?

yes and Ince did not get much money to spend i seem to remember, considering the money we got for Bentley and the compensation we got for Hughes. We spent 4.5 milllion on Grella, 3.5million on Robbo and 1.5million on Andrews were is the rest of the money??

Gazz.

Hughes and JW didn't see it that way at all, did they? - and why keep asking me about Keith Andrews? I've said very little about him, but apparently your already convinced of his quality. We will see.

lets take the emotion out of it.

look at the facts -

fact 1 - we finished 7th last season

fact 2 - we gained far less points in the 2nd half of the season than we did the first, so the rot had started to set in

fact 3 - plenty of prem teams finished higher than they were last season. look at spurs as an example.

would bentley have stayed if hughes stayed? No one will ever know, but what we said publicly as a club, bears no relevance to what actually happens. He was an england player who wasnt even playing in the UEfa cup, so realistically guys - do you think he would have stayed? Spurs said berbatov was going nowhere, but player power rules.

Now then.....

paul ince wasn't a star player, but hughes was? it just shows how people want to twist things for their own end. You cannot argue with the facts.

You don't get to captain every team you play for, INCLUDING ENGLAND, unless the players are all behind you and want to follow your example.

It was the opposition fans that thought he was arrogant. Not his team mates and people from his own club. Otherwise he would have failed after elaving Man U - not gone on to star for one of the best teams in the world.

So please- paul, 1864, philip - stop spouting lies. i understand you dont like him - that's your prerogative. But as valued members of the message board that I've always enjoyed reading your opinions, it seems like you're all choosing to peddle something that is so far wrong with the reality, that I have to question your motives.

:rover: all about opinions rev i think he is over rated, the best central defence pairing is oojer and zurab :brfc:

Totally agree with that assessment. Ooijer and Zurab are both natural defenders. Unfortunately, Nelsen has suffered with injuries while Samba has problems reading the game. A number of people I was sat with last night thought Samba was indifferent to say the least. Playing Ooijer at right-back and left-back is not doing him any favours. He should be given a run in the centre of defence not just the odd game now and again.
