It's never been mentioned, no.

Andy Cole as strikers' coach?! Oh bloody hell, god help us.

He needs 6 good chances to score 1 goal, what the bloody hell is he going to tell them????

When you miss keep plugging away ?

Andy Cole is second in the all-time premiership goal scorers table and his goals per game ratio compares favourably with every other striker apart from Shearer and Henry? Like Fowler, however, I don't think he has the temperament for coaching though. And as for Roberts, I'm afraid you cannot coach "strikers instinct". You have it, or you don't. What he needs is coaching on is how to trap a bag of cement...

Correct on both accounts. It's a bit like crossing a ball, you either have it or you don't. :o

Andy Cole coaching Jason Roberts on finishing is like attending a Childcare seminar hosted by Gerry McCann.

Anyway, I thought Fowler was "helping our strikers"?

At the turn of 2002, precariously placed Rovers paid £8million for Cole's services. Within two months of his arrival, we lifted the League Cup, with Cole scoring the winning goal against Spurs. The morale-boosting win coupled with Cole's goals helped us drag ourselves out of the mire toward the end of that campaign.

The following season we finished sixth and qualified for Europe.

If memory serves me correctly, Andrew Cole is the second highest goal scorer in the Premier Leage, after another stiker that helped us to our other previous trophy in modern times (Full Members Cup omitted with all due respect); Alan Shearer.

Gerry McCann is a consultant cardiologist, who has just endured a tragedy that any parent or rounded individual would not hold to ridicule. He also earns £75K per annum, has an attractive intelligent wife and a beautiful family.

Tugay4England, is a sneering serial internet poster, apparently living in some bedsit near Dudley and claiming to be gainfully employed.

Despite this, he/she was seen posting incessantly on the BRFCS MB during the recent Rovers away match - just down the road at Villa Park. He/she/it can also be found posting obsessively during all of Rovers' home matches, and compulsively posting the whole of the time basically!

Despite said Cole & McCann’s obvious human erring, T4E probably represents everything they and I should imagine, the rest of us would never ever want to be.

I was a big fan of Andy Cole when he came here. You can't knock the guy for what he's achieved in his career.

You can't teach striker's instinct, but I'm sure there are a lot of pointers (e.g. put that white leathery sphere in the net) he can give, as well as boost the morale within the camp. Not only that, but it gives variety to the training regime and stops things from becoming routine.

Well, Winterburns introduction improved, albiet slightly, our defence earlier in the season so hopefully cole will get our, undoubtedly talented, strikers to score again!

This is a very american football esque approach to management, with offensive & defensive coaching staff. Im interested in finding out how it works & was wondering if there are any other clubs that employ such a setup? Im sure the big clubs have a coach for everything but im hoping this all works for Ince as i am beginning to warm to him even if he does seem to be learning as he goes!

there's no problem if he learns as he goes though, provided he deos learn. that's what the Ince bashers don't seem to realise. I wasn't an Ince fan as I hated him as a player, nor was I ever an Ince hater, but like you I find myself warming to him in that he does seem genuine.

Nicko, while you are around, have you any rumours, stories or even down right lies to tell us? This messageboard has been like a graveyard since you took a backseat we could do with some discussion points!!!

Let's not open that can of worms again.

Wonderful work.

I live nowhere near Dudley, no idea where you got that from. Shame really, since you used that as the basis for your "criticism".

I'm self employed by the way, and since you want to bring it up, I earn more per annum than Mr McCann and get all the tax breaks he doesn't!

It's a wonderful life B)

so wasn't that parting of the ways "by mutual consent" immediate?

Calderwood was on SSN the other day denying that Cole had left there. I don't remember there being an update since.

Why do we need all these coaches? If we have Winterburn, Cole and Ince why do we ever need Matthias and Knox? It's all jobs for the bloody boys. How often is Winterburn actually here? Whilst he is here and drawing a decent remuneration package we should refuse him the right to go bulling up the arsenal on TV every 5 bloody minutes. Come to think about it we shouldn't need to..... he should do that himself out of respect for his employers.

No different than what Hughes was doing on ITV when Utd were playing European football...so what if they want to earn some money on the side and offer thier views on TV about clubs who played a huge part in their life.

A brief analysis so far

Sold our best keeper ever, fans favorite and living legend brad friedel. Brought in Robinson who was probably the best replacement for the money involved.

Bentley was always going but never bought a replacement.

Signed Simpson and Villaneuva on loan, future prospects but both have been poor of late. Grella who always seems to be injured, Andrews who is not prem material and Fowler who is passed it!

Gave Santa Cruz a new deal.

Started well at Goodison but now no win in last 6 and lingering above the drop zone. Poor performances against Man Utd and Arsenal and some last minute salvages against Boro and WBA.

Gave Jase a new contract!

Only 3 goals scored at home and one of the worst defensive records in the league.

Although injuries to key player have not helped, it's not looking good. The Sunderland fixtures coming up are very key and if things do not improve would JW let Ince spend in the Jan window or bring someone else in to spend the money available their way.
