He might just have faith in his ability.

It's not like Liverpool are awash with wingers and he's way down the pecking order. There's only Benayoun as direct competition, or an out-of-position Dirk Kuyt. He'll probably get his chance at some point, and if he plays well he might keep it.

Hmmm, maybe. It is clear that Rafa does not like him, and he uses the useless Kuyt ahead of him. Pennant is happy playing for Liverpool reserves, and doesn't want to join a lesser club in order to play 1st team football. He doesn't have a chance to cement a regular place at Anfield, and must be thick as crap if he doesn't realise this. Jermaine strikes me as the sort of lad who is happy to pick up his big wages, and hang out with his hoes.

If he can't see the writing's on the wall after being kept out of the team by Kuyt and Benayoun (both playing out of postion) then he's thicker than I thought. He seems to be the only senior right winger at the club and still can't get into the team.

Even with Walcott and Bentley fighting it out to take Beckham's England place, you'd think he'd want a bit of first team football to have a crack at getting into the England squad. The recent inclusion of Bullard shows that Capello is willing to give those playing well a chance, big 4 club or not.

Liverpool reserves and maybe a run out in the odd cup game looms most likely at the moment, Rafa seems to have made it pretty clear he's a fair way off getting into the first XI. That's not ambition, that's just greed.
