I'm not sure stu, I don't care if a player does a backflip if theres contact there's contact and Given caught him.

Andrews was impressive I feel for him to be honest

Never a penalty, in a million years, if we'd had that against us conspiracy theories galore would be out. Anelka left his leg in, and then threw himself theatrically to the floor.

9 times out of 10 they are given. Not saying it's right or wrong.

Ireland had enough chances a blew it. What a shame.

Ireland just ain't good enough. Sure they've been cheated out of a chance at a shoot-out by Henry (a player I greatly respected until about 10 minutes ago) but so what? They had more than enough chances to score in the first leg. France are no great shakes. I can see the English sticking a couple past them.

(Please don't use that word again) henry..cheating ####... he should be banned from playing in the world cup.. thats the only way we can stamp this kind of behavior out of the game without reverting to technology...

Ha ha come off it, so any Rovers player who ever handballs a ball should be banned from playing in the prem?

It's not nice but a handball is a handball is a handball regardless, in an ideal world he is seen and booked but thats the extent of it.

TCO you can't compare a world cup opportunity with a prem league cheat.. its disgusting...

Luckily there's nothing in the rulebook that asks for a heavier punishment if you commit a crime in a more important game.

I do feel sorry for The Irish, they played with honesty and integrity, belief and pride.

If the French wnat to know why they are hated, tonights histrionics are a prime example.

Anelka dive - despicable act of cheating.

Henry (Captain) - despicable act of cheating with a deliberate handball.

Despicable just about sums up my view of the French.

No doubt, we will hear le Jerk aka Platini spouting off about how much better the world cup will be with les cheats in it.

For me, I just despise them. Cowardly no good for anything Nation :angry2:

I want the big teams at the World cup its not the same without them

Missed this!

Its like the Premier League having the 20 biggest teams in it as well. Oh, wait. Hold that.

Disagree, absolutely. 214 times out of 1000 they aren't.

France are a shadow of the team of the last 10 years. Ireland can rightly feel cheated out of a chance to take it to penalties.

On first view, definite penalty - on the replay, not a chance. Well done ref.

Don't blame Henry for doing what he did but he should feel very ashamed.

If that happens in normal time in any other game, the referee gives it. He bottled it on this occasion.

I think we disagree, and no amount of repetion on either of our part will change that! But one of us is neutral, and one of us wanted France to win.

Opinions are very much divided on the claim around the places Ive looked on the web.

Opinions are most certainly not divided on the handball. Saddeningly, he's about at that stage in his career where the handball could be the definining moment.

Still, we'd have beaten either of them and will have to make do with representing the entire Isles on our own, again.

I'd be fuming, as Eddie said, if it was us and we didn't get it. More to the point, if Ireland had that claim and didn't get it you'd be fuming.

I wasn't bothered who won, I'm just being a WUM. It's fun!

Exactly this, whatever the game is it doesn't matter, punishements have to be universal across the board

Not quite the same for me Stu, obviosuly I want England to win but I don't have nearly as much vested interest in international games but love the big tournaments as a spectactle as much as anything.

After seeing the penalty appeal again I'm not so sure, it could easily have been given though.

I wouldn't.

How would you feel if it was given against us?

Check my first response Stu. I wasn't saying it was definitely a penalty, just the vast majority of times they are given.

Many of that type have been given against us. RvN springs to mind.

Did the handball remind anyone else of Louis Saha at Ewood 3-4 years ago?

That was a memory I didnt want back.

The only difference being it wasnt 46 minutes into injury time*

* there may be a slight exaggeration in this post.

So your reaction would be?

Was it not the one where 4 minutes displayed on the board magically changed to 5 after a word from Fergie?
