John Posted September 9, 2008 Posted September 9, 2008 Last time we had internationals, all I read/heard from our manager was a constant moan prior to the match about how he could not work with his players (which continued post match and used as an excuse for a poor performance). Wonder if we will hear the same again before/after Arsenal.

Eddie Posted September 9, 2008 Author Posted September 9, 2008 If we lose our players were tired. If we win then the rest did them good.
allrovertheworld Posted September 9, 2008 Posted September 9, 2008 This is my first game this year. And i think we will get smashed.
rovgers Posted September 9, 2008 Posted September 9, 2008 Arsenal sem to be another one of our bogey teams, we have played a defensive game against them under hughes. It will be intereseting to see what kind of formation Ince plays against them.
colin Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 Eddie, Thanks for the preview. Another good one, I appreciate the work you've put into it.
RibbleValleyRover Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 Roque played for Paraguay last night, doesn't necessarily mean that he is 100% fit though... Then there is the issue of travelling back from South America in terms of fatigue and jet lag. I think I would rest him against Le Arse.
only2garners Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 Some good points there 1864roverite, in particular about Roque. I know a lot of players play with tweaks and strains but unless he is 100% fit i would not risk playing him. I'd rather get him 100% fit for the game against Fulham, which should be a far more winnable game on paper (no offense ffan) and one we should aim to win. Well the good news is that Paraguay played last night, 24 hours before anyone else and that Roque played.
JAL Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 Roque played for Paraguay last night, doesn't necessarily mean that he is 100% fit though... Then there is the issue of travelling back from South America in terms of fatigue and jet lag. I think I would rest him against Le Arse. Saw on SSN the tackle on Roques ankle in which he held grimacing, would be very suprised if he lasts lfor any length of time saturday or if he appears at all.
Scotty Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 Saw on SSN the tackle on Roques ankle in which he held of it grimacing, will be every suprised if he lasts long on saturday if he appears at all. Not like you to be pessimistic JAL.
RibbleValleyRover Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 Saw on SSN the tackle on Roques ankle in which he held of it grimacing, will be every suprised if he lasts long on saturday if he appears at all. I saw that as well on the Paraguay v Venezuela game. There's no point risking him.
Billy Castell Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 4-0 to Arsenal. RSC will be out, knowing our luck, and Arsenal will thrash us, and Wenger will still complain that our players had ruffled Van Persie's hairdo.
Amo Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 The side is looking a bit powderpuff at the moment, and if RSC doesn't play (one way or another) we'll probably get run ragged.
MarkBRFC Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 I'd probably rest RSC aswell to get him fully fit for next week against Fulham. It might be worth packing the midfield with Reid, Dunn, Mokena, Andrews, Pederson and playing Roberts in a lone forward role. I'd also move Emerton back to right back.
Jolly Giraffe Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 A heroic performance from Robinson - shoving the Arsenal fan's taunts in their faces. A tight battle in midfield giving our newcomers the chance to impress in front of the home faithful. Any chance that we get will need to be taken. It's going to be close but I reckon we'll stuff 'em about 10 - 0.
Jolly Giraffe Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 Maybe they'll get lucky.... 10 - 1 (probably offside)
Daremz Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 Ooijer out injured at Holland match vs. Macedonia. Guess he won't play this weekend.
krislu Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 Easy win for Arsenal, hopefully Ince will be gone before Xmas.
philipl Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 Ooijer out injured at Holland match vs. Macedonia. Guess he won't play this weekend. Add Zura out of the Georgia line-up v Italy and we are in trouble if Ryan or Samba are struggling on their inter-continental travels.
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 Walcott, Van Persie and Adebayor. Well... No.
sanlorenzo Posted September 11, 2008 Posted September 11, 2008 I'd probably rest RSC aswell to get him fully fit for next week against Fulham. It might be worth packing the midfield with Reid, Dunn, Mokena, Andrews, Pederson and playing Roberts in a lone forward role. I'd also move Emerton back to right back. Roque is fit and will want to play against Arsenal. He is probably back and should play and not be rested. We should try to win every game and without him we have no shot.
Athlete Posted September 11, 2008 Posted September 11, 2008 settle for a draw on this one even though really would like a win - but if we defend like we did v west ham we won't get punished we'll get destroyed
