Jim J Posted September 19, 2008 Posted September 19, 2008 Was fortunate enough to be working from home today, so I've been watching the Ryder Cup. Looks like its advantage USA at the moment, but its early days. BTW, how annoying are the crowd!!!

T4E Posted September 19, 2008 Posted September 19, 2008 Disappointing start, Europe normally get off to a flier, it will be interesting to see how the team comes back from this. I'm not convinced by Faldo in the way that I was by Torrance and Woosnam. Maybe I'm just listening to the press too much.
Flopsy Posted September 19, 2008 Posted September 19, 2008 I thought his sandwich joke was quite amusing yesterday, the disdain it recieved from the press was even funnier.
Guest Kamy100 Posted September 19, 2008 Posted September 19, 2008 Coming into the last few holes of the day it looks like USA going to be 6-2 up. Not looking good for Europe.
Jim J Posted September 19, 2008 Author Posted September 19, 2008 Not looking good. Faldo just seems to lack a personality, he's the McLaren of golf. Lets see if he can turn it round tomorrow.
American Posted September 20, 2008 Posted September 20, 2008 Interesting that Tiger's absence seems to have made us better. He never did do great in the team portion of the event.
Tris Posted September 21, 2008 Posted September 21, 2008 Ince really messed this up, tactics wrong from the start. And the board has to take some blame too - selling Monty and Clark and not replacing them with proven quality has cost us.
Guest Kamy100 Posted September 21, 2008 Posted September 21, 2008 Tris. Well done to the Americans, they played the better golf over the last 3 days, although about any hour and half ago I thought that Europe were going to do it and Faldo had pulled a masterstroke by sending his strongest players at the end but the Americans holed so superb putts and it is game over. Roll on Celtic Manor in 2 years time.
den Posted September 21, 2008 Posted September 21, 2008 The Americans, certainly were the better team, - well done to them. As for Inc..... errrr, sorry Faldo, his order of play was wrong today. Leaving Poulter and Harrington till the last, when their scores don't count and the match was lost, was inexcusable. Surely when your teams behind, you MUST have a go early doors to put them under some kind of pressure. That never happened.
American Posted September 21, 2008 Posted September 21, 2008 What a beautiful day, so far. Patriots getting their butts whooped on both sides of the ball, US kicking tail in the Ryder Cup and now the Broncos leading.
Presty On Tour Posted September 21, 2008 Posted September 21, 2008 USA won the cup with their clutch putting, they seemed to be draining them for anywhere on the green. I wonder what Tiger makes of it all?
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 GEERRIN THE HOLE! 12 bore.......BANG!
Flopsy Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Although I had the urge to shout "Come on Tim" every so often. Cant wait for the next one, I think Europe will wipe the floor with them
RevidgeBlue Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 Faldo got a lot of grief for his role last week but on reflection I think it boiled down to the fact that the two guys who were theoretically our two best players, Garcia and Harrington, were completely out of sorts and barely contributed a point between them. The past few captains have all been able to rely on three or four points from Garcia alone.
jim mk2 Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 Harrington did nothing at the K Club either. Europe's defeat was entirely down to Faldo - not a leader of men and should never have been appointed captain. And he's a prat.
RevidgeBlue Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 Harrington did nothing at the K Club either. True, but he's won 3 majors since then and should have been a talisman for us. Bit harsh to label Faldo "a prat." He won 6 majors on the back of being self focused, driven and his own man. However as with Tiger Woods, those qualities don't seem to translate too well to the team environment of the Ryder Cup.
jim mk2 Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 I don't deny he used to be a great golfer ; but as a man he's an imbecile. If you'd attended one of his "interviews" or spent any time with him you'd know what I mean.
Flopsy Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 not an imbecile, a self centred arrogant prick maybe, but not an imbecile. We were let down on the first day when they threw away a position of strength, and couldnt get it back. I'd have played one of the big guns up front, but thats the only difference. USA hit birdies, Europe didnt.
