Amo Posted September 25, 2008 Posted September 25, 2008 That Liverpool fan is STILL in a Bulgarian jail? I've been reading how at the time the Bulgarian police barged into his apartment while he was sleeping, threw a t-shirt on him and stuck him in a line-up with three swarthy Bulgarians. And despite even passing a lie detector and other testimony, he's still locked up? What gives?

nowthen Posted September 25, 2008 Posted September 25, 2008 I thought he was now serving a reduced sentence in a British prison. Either way it seems a disgrace, I watched a programme on it a while back and it seems a very dubious conviction.
bobsterbrfc Posted September 25, 2008 Posted September 25, 2008 a lie detector test means absolutely nowt, they don't qualify as legitimate evidence in court anywhere in the world...
Amo Posted September 25, 2008 Author Posted September 25, 2008 a lie detector test means absolutely nowt, they don't qualify as legitimate evidence in court anywhere in the world... If they're prepared to use a lie detector, they should accept the outcome.
thenodrog Posted September 26, 2008 Posted September 26, 2008 I thought he was home too. It's wrong how Lpool fans get treated with suspiscion and persecuted wherever they go isn't it? I wonder why?
Dreyski Posted September 26, 2008 Posted September 26, 2008 a lie detector test means absolutely nowt, they don't qualify as legitimate evidence in court anywhere in the world... Get Jeremy Kyle as the Judge and that would change...
Ste B Posted September 26, 2008 Posted September 26, 2008 What gives? His arse. Same old scousers, never guilty.
Sparky Marky Posted September 26, 2008 Posted September 26, 2008 Liverpool have signed a new Italian player, Robatelli.....
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted September 26, 2008 Posted September 26, 2008 And Nick Yamota from Japan, he's a born Scouser.
blue phil Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 QUOTE (Ste B @ Sep 26 2008, 12:40 ) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> His arse. Same old scousers, never guilty. Check the facts before making stupid , glib coments . This bloke is as innocent as it's possible to be .
scotchrover Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 Gordon Brown needs to intervine in this one seem as the thick Bulgariens don't get "he didn't do it".
blue phil Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 Not according to the law he isnt Bulgarian law eh ....?
American Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 Bulgarian law eh ....? Isn't it you who always says that people should obey the local laws and customs when visiting another country? Sounds a bit hypocritical to me.
dopper69 Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 I had the pleasure (or should that be displeasure?) of going on Holiday to Varna, Bulgaria in 2005. I believe that this Liverpolian also went to Varna. I can honestly say that the police is as corrupt as possible. Imagine Eastern Russia 20 years ago and you get the idea. Children rumaging around in packs in the streets, officers literrally beating the ###### out of people for fun. Not a nice place. We also went into a bar that refused to let us leave until we paid an entrance fee (this was after being in the bar for an hour). Overall Avoid Bulgaria

Overall Avoid Bulgaria Never been to Bulgaria so I've no personal experience of it but isn't that like saying ...'I've been to Blackpool, it's crap so dont go to England'? Or I've been to San Antonio.... Spain is sh1t etc?
blue phil Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 Isn't it you who always says that people should obey the local laws and customs when visiting another country? Sounds a bit hypocritical to me. Yes I do , American . But I'm sure that being asleep in one's hotel room whilst someone else somewhere else is kicking the sh^t out of a local citizen doesn't constitute a crime in any country - even in Bulgaria .
DP Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 Have been to Bulgaria twice and thoroughly enjoyed both visits. So what should my verdict on the country be?
Wolverine Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 I thought he had been moved from Bulgaria back to Britain and is in a prison in Wigan since 2006. And although the UK can officially pardon his crime, for some reason it hasn't happened yet...
Claytons Left Boot Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 ....... I believe that this Liverpolian........ Avoid Bulgaria Liverpolian? I've been to Bulgaria four or five times. It's a great place, especially up in the mountains.

Blackpool_Rover Posted September 30, 2008 Posted September 30, 2008 didn't the real attacker admit his crime a few years ago?
