Backroom Tom Posted September 27, 2008 Backroom Posted September 27, 2008 Bring on the dingles. But I have a gut feeling we'll get Sunderland away. I have high hopes for this competition but in reality its hard to see past L'aresnal winning it, they look unbelieveable. Damn, sometimes it sucks to be right!

RibbleValleyRover Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 Sunderland v Blackburn Rovers Arsenal v Wigan Athletic Chelsea v Burnley Swansea City v Watford Manchester United v Queens Park Rangers Stoke City v Rotherham United Brighton & Hove Albion or Derby v Leeds United Tottenham Hotspur v Liverpool Chelsea v Burnley
DeadlyDirk Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 Gotta play some half decent times if we want to go far in it, Sunderland away, piece of ######! Bring them on!
RibbleValleyRover Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 I think we can beat them, rather play Sunderland than one of the top four. Looks like Spurs could go out, unless Rafa really does some major rotation.
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 Not the hardest game in the world, but it'll be tough. I think we can assume Burnley won't be progressing. Rather funny how The Big Four have "luckily" been drawn apart again. The balls for the next round are in the microwave now.
Grabbi Graeme Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 Jeff Stelling just going through the Carling Cup fixtures on Soccer Sat when he says League 1 side Burnley I mean Championship side Burnley.
Hughesy Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 Good draw. Key was to avoid the big 4. Hopefully Arsenal or Liverpool may struggle.
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 The DIngles will get the set 6k seats at Stamford, they seem to think that they will be selling out. Just over 7k on against Fulham, not sure they can muster enough Wacky Races buses to get their 100,000 fans down to Stamford.
Finch Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 I think we can assume Burnley won't be progressing. That was my first thought too, but then I remembered when they drew Liverpool in the FACup a few seasons back. At the time I laughed because I thought they would be taught a lesson in proper football - but then Liverpool were rubbish on the day and the Dingles won. I'd like to think that Chelsea won't be caught out the same way and would give us the amusement of annihilating them. As for Sunderland - could have been worse. *sad statto mode on* In the six seasons since we won it, we have been knocked out of this competition by one of the big four on five occasions. That suggests we should survive. *sad statto mode off*
RoverRich Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 Bring on the dingles. But I have a gut feeling we'll get Sunderland away. I have high hopes for this competition but in reality its hard to see past L'aresnal winning it, they look unbelieveable. Fair play, what a shout! Don't reckon its too bad a draw as we have avoided top 4 and tottenham plus we have avoided the lower leagues teams so won't be embarrassing if we go out at this stage. We should still win!
Bobby G Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 We avoided the big four, and with that in mind we cant complain at whoever else we got... Good chance that Arsenal might go out, but Chelsea look set to go through and United and Liverpool might struggle a bit. Not the worst draw for us. There is hope yet.
Finch Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 not sure they can muster enough Wacky Races buses to get their 100,000 fans down to Stamford. Evokes an amusing image

I'd like to think that Chelsea won't be caught out the same way and would give us the amusement of annihilating them. That was Liverpool Reserves. This is Chelsea. Who always play their first team. At Stamford Bridge, where they haven't been beaten for...how long? I'm not saying it can't happen. But it would be a bloody surprise if it did.
T4E Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 Thats a decent draw, we can beat them. Bit of protection for the "big 4", what a surprise.
philipl Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 Spurs v Liverpool is sweet whilst the Arsenal kids are going to get a physical test if nothing else from the Wigan giants. Sunderland away- if both teams are on top form, you have to fancy Rovers to shade it.
Finch Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 That was Liverpool Reserves. This is Chelsea. Who always play their first team. At Stamford Bridge, where they haven't been beaten for...how long? Fair point. Annihilation it is then!

For what it's worth I think we'll get beat 3-1 today, lets hope the last one was a fluke eh? Sunderland is winnable, seem to remember losing on pens there once, did Ciccio not slip when takin his? shame the big 4 have avoided each other really was hoping some of them may go out this round but looking at the draw it seems unlikely.
FINRover Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 I'm quite happy we have very good change beat Sunderland.
tchocky Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 It's winnable, but then we are bound to get one of the top 4 in the next round.
bennyboyt11 Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 top4 avoid each other... suprise surpise
AussieinUk Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 Fairly happy with this draw.. It's a pitty this is not at home. I was sure that we were going to draw a big four team. Amused, that the yiddos have 'pool.
