Wild Irish Rover Posted October 5, 2008 Posted October 5, 2008 Click No doubt this little 'handbags at thirty paces' story will be used to bash Rovers' reputation far and wide... And there's me thinking even yellow cards were almost unprecedented in women's football!

philipl Posted October 5, 2008 Posted October 5, 2008 Rovers were down to seven players and held out for a 4-4 draw? Perhaps they should show the men how to fight in a game.
roversmum Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 Portsmouth manager Vanessa Raynbird sympathised with the Rovers players and said: "Most of the sendings-off were for very innocuous offences." nothing new there then...
gumboots Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 My family were at that game and said that even the Portsmouth staff were criticising the ref. they are worried it could be their turn to suffer ridiculous decisions if he refs them again. Apparently he'd been bad before the game started and just seemed to have a vendetta against Rovers players. No player management skills, no "if you do that again I'll have to book you" just yellow cards straight away. The Portsmouth manager said to my husband that you couldn't tell from the way the game was going that Rovers only had 8 players for a large part of the game (the last sending off happened very late on)
