Paul Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 Seeing as the last one was closed here's another thread. Last night I was thinking about the U-21 match when Dunny was captain. That was a really good night out. Can the FF ask if the club hope to get more U-21 games and if not what is the barrier to this happening? Location? Attendance? I'd have thought 30,000 seats in the north-west was a pretty good deal?

brightonrover Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 When's the bloody scoreboard gonna be fixed? Will the ex-MFPR be returned as a Khazi?
dannydisco Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 An update on former St Bartholomew's Church? I know it will be temporally used as a car park but have also read it will be the site of a new development. The possibility of selling Rovers fans tickets for Darwen End lower left regularly. Maybe worth discussing on here a bit more first, but I feel this alone could enhance the atmosphere. Ask the club to promote its current £40 for 10 kids plus 2 free Adults deal more.
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 Is the space now where the church used to be going to see the much mooted 'Rovers museum' finally built?.....that really would be fantastic to see.
Mc Love Posted October 8, 2008 Posted October 8, 2008 It was the first time since i have been over to be able to see what people were talking about the ground looking shabby. And it does look a bit shabby, some brickwork around the ground needs cleaning. More importantly the Jack Walker statue area is in dire need of a good scrub. The grime on the metal i suppose is expected, but it should be cleaned on a monthly basis if not more than that?? But apart from that, i found that the grounds and club shop were very clean and well organised.
Hughesy Posted October 8, 2008 Posted October 8, 2008 Id like the forumn to ask the club for two things to be considered. A ticket selling booth in town centre of Blackburn Free tickets for Kids under a certain age - maybe 12.
American Posted October 8, 2008 Posted October 8, 2008 They REALLY need to sort out the food stand at half time. 15 minutes to get a pie is a bit much. There is no organisation behind the counter and it seemed to take them about 3 minutes per person. Is it really that hard to have a certain number of cups of tea already poured?
ABBEY Posted October 8, 2008 Posted October 8, 2008 They REALLY need to sort out the food stand at half time. 15 minutes to get a pie is a bit much. There is no organisation behind the counter and it seemed to take them about 3 minutes per person. Is it really that hard to have a certain number of cups of tea already poured? Its not like that over the pond is it.They have beer ,food stalls and merchandise all over the concoures. They walk up and down the stands ,selling food and beer to each row and not just at half time ,its pre game and during the game.Mind you I was spoilt in Arizona last year my seat was right next to the bar and the bar tender said "just stick your arm up and i will get you a beer".
Hughesy Posted October 8, 2008 Posted October 8, 2008 Cant really have food people out during the game, not unless they want all their food going everywhere when we score. Pre game & Half time yes. As american said - they should have a set number of things ready to go - they must do some sort of stats on how many of each they sell on average at each game so they will have that sort of info available to plan ahead.
ABBEY Posted October 8, 2008 Posted October 8, 2008 why not during the game ? dont tell me that nfl fans just sit there whent theres a touchdown because they dont.
Hughesy Posted October 8, 2008 Posted October 8, 2008 If they stand in the concourses, or exit areas maybe. But i would imagine the stairwells or exit areas are classed as a fire hazard? But not up & down the isles. Its tough enough for people to go up and down the isles to get out. Can you seriously imagine some stupid bint, with a big bag or tray of goodies trying to get past people on isles to sell food?
ABBEY Posted October 8, 2008 Posted October 8, 2008 they do in the usa hughsey.Cant for one imagine it working here tho,you cant see someone passing a twenty down the line and getting the ale and change passed back haahahah
American Rover12 Posted October 8, 2008 Posted October 8, 2008 That's one thing I've always found incredible. At any ball park watching strangers pass food and money between a person and a vendor. It's oddly reassuring; not everyone is a scumbag yet.
ABBEY Posted October 8, 2008 Posted October 8, 2008 hahahaa i know i remember the first time i passed a $20 down for a beer at a diamondback game and was extremly worried ,but my beer and hot dog came back(not much change tho hahaha)
Majiball Posted October 9, 2008 Posted October 9, 2008 Abbey's idea has merit. It works fine in the USA they can do it during the game, then just before half time they move down to the concourse. It would shorten queue's at half time. It has my vote.
Hughesy Posted October 9, 2008 Posted October 9, 2008 Maybe at half time & pre game they should have shop stands at the bottom of each stairwell? Like they used to with Program Sellers in the riverside.
ABBEY Posted October 9, 2008 Posted October 9, 2008 THey do that all over the concourses in the usa hughsey ,granted they are lots more spaces and its not hemmed in like in our ground.
Hughesy Posted October 9, 2008 Posted October 9, 2008 Yeah I know. Maybe if they put the food stands at the front of each stand, rather than in the concourse? It would also stop so many people going to the concourse and causing it to be packed out.
Ewood Spark Posted October 12, 2008 Posted October 12, 2008 The agenda setting meeting for the next forum (20th Oct) takes place tomorrow (13th Oct). As usual, all ideas welcome.
incy wincy little spider Posted October 12, 2008 Posted October 12, 2008 Good idea, they also do it at sale sharks. Have beer men walking around at the bottom and up the stairs. I would buy a pie if i didn't have to queue for the whole half time
colin Posted October 12, 2008 Posted October 12, 2008 Oh for goodness sake! Can't you last 105 minutes plus a bit without a crappy over-priced pie and a pint of fizzy gnats 9i55? I'm there to watch The Rovers, not to eat. I'll do that before the game or when I get home afterwards. I know, I'm Mr Grumpy.
roverthemoon Posted October 12, 2008 Posted October 12, 2008 Could we please have shelves around the concourse walls. I always buy a pie & a pint and the pint has to go on the floor while I eat my pie. (JW upper). Every match I see people stuggling trying to put sugar in their coffee and in this day and age with upgraded stadiums it should not happen.
Hughesy Posted October 12, 2008 Posted October 12, 2008 Maybe a finances update - is the £20m debt still acurate or is it much lower? Spending in Jan - Is serious money available following Bentley sale? Any update on any potential buyer seeing the likes of Charlton, City & Newcastle all seem able to find one. Is the scoreboard going to be fixed? Any possibilities of away travel like Bolton are doing?
dannydisco Posted October 13, 2008 Posted October 13, 2008 Free tickets for Kids under a certain age - maybe 12. http://www.rovers.premiumtv.co.uk/page/Sch...,,10303,00.html I think that this is avery good offer and needs pushing more - perhaps worth asking if the *'s could be relaxed to include families & groups of friends.
Ricky Posted October 13, 2008 Posted October 13, 2008 goabsolutely.... is that a new word that groobs has invented
