Good job we missed out on Chris Ronnie

"JJB also fired chief, Christopher Ronnie, for gross misconduct.

Mr Ronnie failed to disclose the timing of a sale of his shares in the company, which contravened disclosure rules, JJB said."

Also nothing to do with Mr. Whelan taking the company back over and sacking Mike Ashley ex-right hand man.

Valencia have come clean and admitted they have stopped paying wages. At last the fire sale of players might finally happen. I know the PL rightly gets lambasted for how it runs itself but for outlandish cowboy carry ons look no further than Spain or Italy.

I wonder why Platini is getting such criticism? It's plain common sense when the stupid hamster on a wheel CL clubs ... with the biggest income in the world get themselves in such a financial mess just so that ultimately a few proma donna's and their agents can own half of Monaco or equivalent.

He's screwed, the ginger mingers screwed. We'd have been screwed if they had taken over. It looks like the Walker trust and Rothschilds are not as stupid as they are perceived by so many of the Blackburn intelligentsia here.

Wonder how the 'life long Blackburn fan' Daniel Williams is doing these days, still attending home matches?

AMERICAN-BASED entrepreneur Daniel Williams is the "new Jack Walker" behind a £67million bid for Blackburn Rovers.

There is an article in today's Daily Telegraph outlining some of Preston's financial problems.

They are losing £183,000 per week. They have recorded losses of £4.7 mil for the first 6 months of the current season.

It is believed that Trevor Hemmings, their billionaire shareholder, and Friends of PNE have loaned the club £10 mil to help them cope with the pre-tax loss.

Their wage bill has risen by 25% at a time the PFA are having to help pay the wages at 4 League clubs.

Dont forget John Williams and the board have allowed the Ewood Park wage bill to sore over the past 12 months or so cant see how Rovers are fairing any better.

Don't forget though that most fans have been calling for John Williams and the board to make more money available for players.

Damned if they do, damned if they don't it seems - the poor beggars just can't win.

The fact that we are a club run by a chairman and board which is historically known to offer lucrative, long term contracts is now managed by a manager who believes in the motivational aspect of short term contracts (as I do in most cases) should prove quite fascinating.

I think alot of loan deals will happen for us in the future - small initial outlay, initial short term contract and a get-out clause for us if the player isnt up to it (i.e. Danny Simpson).

I think alot of people may also be annoyed in the summer because I can honestly see Joey Barton signing for us. Im not saying I agree with it, just stating what I think. Rumours that wigan are ready to make an offer for him and that the geordies want him off the wage bill - he just seems the obvious choice for a cheap/ good quality midfielder. ((READY FOR THE BACKLASH))

I don't disagree, I thought he'd be just the player for us but since I saw him interviewed by Gaby Yorath I suspect that he is not mentally in control nor is he mentally strong enough to withstand the pressure of Prem football.

God knows I'm not one of the holier-than-thou-types who ponce about on here with mealy mouthed pontifications about the likes of Bellamy / Sav / Todd / Diouff's fitness to wear the blue and white halves (btw why do some always want to have one hate figure amongst the players?) but I would be wary of Bartons for sure!

Precisely. I dislike diouf etc but this is not about dislike. This is about the serious doubt that the guy can hold it together to play more than a game or two without getting into some more serious trouble on or off the field. I think as far as premiership football is concerned Barton is a lost cause. He's had all sorts of counselling etc and it doesn't seem to have made a difference. Pressure on the field leads to problems off it or vice versa and then he just lashes out.

Barton's a psycho .....as well as being greatly overrated by people who seem to confuse "attitude" with technical ability . No vision to speak of just hustle and bustle followed by the inevitable caving in when the going gets really tough . Who can forget the City fans reaction to his sloping about a few seasons back at Ewood ?

As for the 4 players you mentioned both Todd and Sav never experienced any abuse from the fans to any degree . Bellamy had a past off the pitch but caused no trouble whilst here . Diouff hopefully he will develop in character in time but I'll never feel anything other than dislike for the bloke . Barton will always be beyond the pale in any civilised company .......

Southampton have some half decent players. That Surman seemed an interesting player a season or two ago, as did that bloke with the Polish sounding name. Perhaps they can rekindle their promise at a new club.

Southampton are dire - Championship struggling players = Championship footy at best

You're kidding I hope?

Lots objected when Sav signed (waggy in particular... and unsuprisingly). 'Waste of money' by many until he eventually won em over by doing exactly the same things that he had done for every club he played for. Same type of opposition and objections were pointed at Craig Bellamy before he played. Diouff's still kopping it from many despite working his ###### off for the relegation fighting cause. Even more were queuing up to throw Todd to the dogs after his accidental collision with RVP in Cardiff. (I think this had its roots in his kicking a deserving Dugarry up the arse.). I haven't mentioned this above but Lucas Neill was damned out of sight simply for accidentally catching Jamie Carragher with the type of full blooded challenge that we all admire and usually demand. And even an honest work all day pro like Garry Flitcroft was lambasted for a little rumpy pumpy that managed to attract the nationals.

It p1sses me off Phil. Too many holier than thou know nowts who have no knowledge of the game yet cannot wait to stick the knife into our players when it is totally undeserved. Sure we can shove it up the thief who was kicked out for stealing from his teammates, we can criticise too the players who come just for an easy ride and who stick like limpets till their contracts are paid up like Vogel and Amoruso but lets not diss 'proper' players who will give their level best for BRFC and the proper supporters who pay their wages.

If Barton was not such a psychotic crapbag, he would be a good player to have in our (and Newcastle's) position. Sadly for Barton, and whichever club he is at, he is indeed a contemptable waste of time who spends more time beating people up on and off the pitch than utilising what skill he has.

Even though we have a pretty high wage bill, it shouldnt be seen as a problem. We have some of the most desirable players out of the top 4 and we could easily sell them if push comes to shove. Santa Cruz, McCarthy, MGP, Samba, Robinson could all find clubs pretty easily tbh

You dont make sense Jonnolad, no extra money has been made available, its just the wages that have been screwed to the nth degree for no extra output on the pitch.

Looks like they've decided to take as much money for themselves before they run.
