doctorryan Posted July 3, 2009 Posted July 3, 2009 but clubs will get around a cap but just giving players a HUGE signing on fee. so in that case there would have to be a salary cap, a xfer cap and a sign on fee cap, and it would have to be inmplimented (sp?) in such a way that teams in lower leagues can cope with it. None of this has any chance because it would have to be UEFA-wide as FourLaneBlue mentioned before. But just so you know: "signing bonuses" as they're known here in North America are prorated over the life of a contract for purposes of a salary cap. In other words: A player signs a 3 year deal at 2,000,000 per season + a 3,000,000 signing bonus. 3,000,000 divided by 3 years is 1,000,000 so therefore his cap number would be 3,000,000 per season. Often clubs will pay players different totals in different seasons within a contract in order to manipulate their "cap number", so the numbers above are somewhat simplified. But that is basically how it works.
