Ray-Von Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 Watching the Burnley game with "interest" tonight. Sad to say, at least two of their midfielders would walk into our team right now.

Claytons Left Boot Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 Watching the Burnley game with "interest" tonight. Sad to say, at least two of their midfielders would walk into our team right now. So would two of Accy's midfielders come to think of it.
philipl Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 Saw the dingles second half in the pub- as turgid as the soporific Slovakian commentary. If either of those teams reach the PL, the dire level of entertainment is not going to be improved, sad to say. Certainly the dingles looked more organised going forward and that Clarke Carlisle looked OK ish at Centre Half. Is he the kid whose relations cae on here blasting the Rovers when he was released by us?
Guest Vinjay606 Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 Is he the kid whose relations cae on here blasting the Rovers when he was released by us? Wrong. Looks like you're the one who's factually incorrect. He has never been associated with Blackburn Rovers.
philipl Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 vinjay ? Is a question mark It means I was asking a question. Not spouting a never ending stream of drivel based on completely wrong assumptions.
92er Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 I think Carlisle began at Blackpool, went to QPR and played against us for Watford in the Premiership when we beat them 3-0.
Hughesy Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 Looks like the play off spots are more or less sorted now. Sheff Utd Cardiff Burnley Reading Out of the 4 id really like Sheff Utd come up, just so they gain some justice for getting unfairly relegated last time

They certainly aren't premiership ready sides, but they are both pretty solid defensively and very organised, they have the makings of teams that could survive if they made it up.
yorkyclaret Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 I think Carlisle began at Blackpool, went to QPR and played against us for Watford in the Premiership when we beat them 3-0. Yeah, thats him 92er very inteligent guy, lost his way some years ago when the ale got the better of him but he seems to have won that battle now. Wouldn't be too sure about Reading hughesy, they are on a shocking run, Swansea could nick it. Hope you're right tho, better to have strugling teams with us rather than teams on a storming run. Eddie, not a great game to watch, we tried to play football but their plan A was hoof it up top, hope to win header and get defender with elbow at same time, plan B was exactly the same!So was plan C. Certainly would expect us to sign a few journey men types with prem experiance should we go up, guess we would find out if our Mr Coyle can work miracles!
philipl Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 I think Carlisle began at Blackpool, went to QPR and played against us for Watford in the Premiership when we beat them 3-0. Thanks. Must have been Clarke Kent the Academy rejected. Pity as he might have fitted into the current pattern of play.
Hughesy Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 I know what your saying about them York, but they only need 1 win in 3 to gaurantee it - im sure reading will take that last place. Whats your honest opinion on those 4 for the play-offs? would you be confident you will be coming up or not??

Whats your honest opinion on those 4 for the play-offs? would you be confident you will be coming up or not?? Swansea would need to win at Sheff Utd on saturday so think you are right. All season I have never expected us to get up, still don't but looking at the other 3, we have done the double over the Blades so wouldn't be worried about them. Reading looked a class above (maybe 2) when we played them but that was a while ago, they seem to have little confidence now. Even Cardiff, we were level after 87 mins down there, with no regular strikers available, would still prefer to avoid them tho. Do you know what, the more I think about it the more I think we will have an even chance against any of them! Tonight we did what we had to do and won a bit ugly. Something we have never been good at but a handy thing to be able to do.
AggyBlue Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 but their plan A was hoof it up top, hope to win header and get defender with elbow at same time, plan B was exactly the same!So was plan C. Sounds familiar.
thenodrog Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 Watching the Burnley game with "interest" tonight. Sad to say, at least two of their midfielders would walk into our team right now. I think the same might reasonably apply to any of the other 91 clubs Ray von.
yorkyclaret Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 They're winning now...I bet on Sheffield United so I take part of the blame. Have a couple of quid on Southampton on saturday won't you Eddie. By the way, do threads on here always go on this long?
Ozz Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 Sad to say, at least two of their midfielders would walk into our team right now. If only our midfielders could walk into our team! Thought Dingles played well for the most last night-Sheff United are no mugs and hadn't lost away since November I think. Would be nice to see them crash and burn in the play offs though.
Sir Ranulf Westwood Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 Now we all agree Burnley will go up, it's just left to answer the question of if Rovers will go down or not.
JAL Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 Now we all agree Burnley will go up, it's just left to answer the question of if Rovers will go down or not. Ask again after sundays game, its all in the balance. See another massive crowd at the Dingledome last night sub 15k with 2k plus Sheffield fans have the free tickets run out.

Simliar gates to the ones Rovers will get next season in the Championship I think.
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 This is as close as you've been for God knows how long. I think Burnley might just do it. Hope not.
deryck guyler's spoon Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 Simliar gates to the ones Rovers will get next season in the Championship I think. Rovers had bigger gates than Burnley the last time we shared a division. Despite the fact that Burnley spent much of the season above us in the table.
Gav Posted April 21, 2009 Author Posted April 21, 2009 Sheff Utd were awful on the night to say they'd not lost away since November. Burnleys best season in living memory and still they can't pull the punters in. Get ready lads and lasses for the "burnley stayin down 4 eva" playoff disaster party Not sure if I want them to reach the play off final and lose on a controversial decision on 93 minutes or just get them knocked out controversially in the semis......Ummmmm Rovers had bigger gates than Burnley the last time we shared a division. Despite the fact that Burnley spent much of the season above us in the table. How many times over the past 25yrs have you heard burnley fans say: "If we were in the same division we'd get bigger gates than you"
Exiled in Toronto Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 I thought they did well against a side who seemed to play a lot like Stoke. Although it took me a while to adapt to the strange notions that crosses should be whipped in from the flanks, in front of forwards who are facing the goal. Don't they know the statistics???? They won't get far playing like that! Seriously though, I was amazed at the amount of 'afters' allowed to go on compared to the pansy prem league
SamDingle Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 Rovers had bigger gates than Burnley the last time we shared a division. Despite the fact that Burnley spent much of the season above us in the table. It's hard to emphasise enough how little I care about attendance statistics with promotion to think about instead. It's one for geeky stattos at struggling clubs to bicker over. Me, I'm too busy planning the Clarets' promotion party at Dingle Towers.
Hughesy Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 Me and a few mates were discussing this at the weekend - Who actually wants Burnley to join us in the premier league and provide us with a Big derby game? Anyone?
