Suprised nobody has been discussing yesterdays results.

Great results for preston. I really hope we get Preston & Dingles in the final, it would be great to add a big derby to our league calendar.

Well I have to say it even if it costs me another 25% warning (only joking mods...where's your sense of humour? ;) ).

Congratulations to Burnley FC and to PNE as well. Both clubs have done amazingly well this season (wish we could say the same).

It only remains now to see who actually makes it to the PL. I can't help wanting it to be the Dingles because I was born in Penwortham and initially was a PNE fan until making my first aquaintance wih Rovers, but I still have a background feeling of fondness for PNE based on the several seasons in the '50s when I along with loads of other Rovers fans used to go and Watch PNE every other week when Rovers were away. Ah the magic of Sir Tom! (sigh) Therefore I don't fancy seeing them getting spanked by Rovers twice a season, but the Dingles? .... that is quite another matter. I wouldn't mind seeing Rovers give them a good seeing to every day of the week.

So I am hoping that both of them meet in the final of the playoffs, and that the Dingles actually win that one. Oh it gets me juices flowing at the very thought. Although a good second best outcome might be if PNE win and the land of the Dingles goes into permanent mourning, and Owen Coyle moves on to better things. Like managing Rovers for instance?

If Burnley go up, they will probably beat us, at least at t'turf.

And if they go up and go down, that parachute payment will help. If we go down we're screwed.

I hate to say but Coyle has this Burnley squad firing on all cylinders and probably playing well above themselves.

If we do meet them in the Premiership I think the scores will be a damn sight closer than the famous 5-0.

Lets hope Sam considers them 'winnable games' <_<

Burnley would probably have preferred Sheff Utd after doing the double over them this season.

Preston have the momentum, and as in American sport, those who carry the momentum usually go close.

Id love to see PNE or Burnley in the Premiership next season, local derbies are what get the juices flowing.

I think Sheffield United and Reading have something to say about that.

PNE V the Blades - 1st leg will be interesting. I fancy sheffield will just come and take whatever is thrown at them, they are my favourites for the play offs, have a good squad and the experience factor. Nobend only have the fear factor although clearly cannot be discounted.

The second leg will be totally different. A cauldron of noise compared to nobends little ground.

Sheffield to take the tie 2-1 on aggregate.

Burnley v Reading is a close call, closer than the other tie.

The first leg is about Burnely scoring more than 2 clear goals. If they can achieve that then they will probably beat Reading however, Readings wretched home run has to end somewhere so why not versus the dingles.

Reading to sneak it 3-2 on aggregate.

Final for me, Sheff Utd v Reading, The Blades to sneak it 1-0.

On the other hand, should it be a PNE v Burnley final, then for me I think PNE will prevail despite Burnley having the edge experience wise. Should it get tothis, PNE to take it 1-0.

I still see and forecast heavy disappointment for both North West outfits, both to remain down and both to lose their managers to bigger outfits :unsure:

Burnley looked head and shoulders above Sheff United when they played at Turf Moor recently. If it was those two in the final I know where my money would be going.

As you know, no easy games in the play offs.

looking at the various teams on the pitch at the final whistle yesterday then if I have any preference it is for Reading who looked down and out whilst Sheff Utd were still fired up as were PNE.

I think the odds are against us but its been a great ride

Imagine Burnley playing for the biggest and richest prize in world football! :rover:

And imagine the suicide squads reaction should they lose it. :o

The winner of the Burnley - Reading tie will go up. We've outplayed Sheff Utd for 180 minutes this season, to the point where they started to look ridiculous. We outclassed PNE at Turf Moor and were undone by a couple of odd pen decisions at Deepdale despite our awful form at the time. Plus PNE have the fattest two professional footballers in the game up front for them. They're a sort of poor man's Sheff Utd.

No, the only challenge comes from Reading. They looked the best team in the Championship to me this season when we played them but have struggled really badly at home. Very odd. If they can get Hunt, Doyle and Kitson fit and up for it they may have a bit too much for us, but then as with Spurs and Arsenal, I dont know how much they'll fancy a trip to a hostile Turf Moor for a Saturday evening kick-off.

As ever in the Championship, nowt is certain, but if we can get past Reading it may be time to take Gav's shoelaces and belt off him.

Re. going bust.. we've been going bust for 30 years.

Reading have an excellent away record, I think Coppell said recently they'd rather play both legs at Turf Moor :D I think Reading will just about get the better of you, but the playoffs are going to be very entertaining this year. Agree re: Sheff Utd and Preston, surprised Sheff Utd managed to claim 3rd. Cardiff on the form of a few months ago would have been far more of a challenge in the playoffs, but they've totally imploded for some reason

After a debate last week about Reading's "dodgy" goal. I'd like to pose forward a question to those who were against me.

Do Cardiff have the right to appeal to the F.A about any dubious goal they have had against them?

They missed out on the play offs by virtue of Preston scoring one more goal.

Discuss :)

If they hadn't allowed Preston to score 6 against them they wouldn't have been in that position in the first place. Similarly, all they needed to do was draw with Sheff Weds and they would have been in the playoffs.

Only themselves to blame, shocking bottling job.
