Ossydave Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 So the scene is set, we beat Pompey to secure a premiership place for next season and then its back to the packed pubs around Ewood to watch Reading put the first nail in burnleys play off coffin. What a good day that would be: “I NEVER FELT MORE LIKE SINGING THE BLUES………” Can see quite a few rumbles in surrounding towns too....

Dan Furness Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 Burnley still not fully sold out for today (from the mouth of a Burnley fan going) I still cant believe they are letting Burnley and Rovers play at home on the same day
Gav Posted May 9, 2009 Author Posted May 9, 2009 Burnley still not fully sold out for today (from the mouth of a Burnley fan going) Must be some mistake surely, the biggest and best supported club in the world can't sell out for the semi final of the play offs....... COME ON READING, we'll be watching!
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 Just a side note but where the hell were the blades fans at Deepdale yesterday evening...loads of empty seating? I just hope to god non of these teams ever have the front to mock our support!

SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 Your right Gav,looked less than half of their allocation taken?
Ossydave Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 I thought that about the blades fans too. I guess maybe they are saving their cash for the ridiculous prices IF they get to Wembley? Probably falls before a lot of peoples next pay day. Still a very poor following though regardless.

I just hope to god non of these teams ever have the front to mock our support! I've heard that the away goals rule has been scrapped in the play-offs. Instead there is to be a complex formula applied should the teams finish level after 180 minutes. Something involving the number of tickets sold, the average attendances in 1984, the number of fans who travel to away games on a Tuesday in November and the the number of minutes tickets are on sale before 37% have been sold. Although, to be fair, I've also heard that all this is irrelevant to everyone except a few geeky internet weirdos who are bored with their lives and the route one football they pay to watch. Sit back tonight, furtively count the empty seats and enjoy a footballing masterclass.
Fife Rover Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 Can any kind person tell me if the Burnley v Reading match on TV, and if so what time and channel? Thank you in anticipation.
yorkyclaret Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 Can any kind person tell me if the Burnley v Reading match on TV, and if so what time and channel? Thank you in anticipation. Think it's live on Sky Sports. kick off 5:20. Enjoy.

You've only got a 1 in 4 chance of getting through...and then there's the small batter of beating us for the first time in 30 odd years whilst trying your best not to do a Derby County at the same time. Hold your horses... Your signature has a goal against us in a match that we still won. That says everything.
Fife Rover Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 Think it's live on Sky Sports. kick off 5:20. Enjoy. Thank you kindly sir! I don't care what the rest of our lot on here think I will be rooting for Burnley in this one. I want them up in the PL and with us looking like staying put now, I look forward to a renewal of the old (but friendly ) rivalry. Verbal insults being the only things thrown. EDIT: I will probably get an avalanche of those coming my way any time now from our lot on here.

Fylde Coast Fan Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 In all seriousness Burnley and Reading are two of the best footballing sides in the division and it should be a great couple of games, no matter what the result. I'll be watching Liverpool v West Ham though since I can't bear to cheer for Them Lot.
RevidgeBlue Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 Not thrilled with that at all. Don't really want any of our closest rivals geographically winning the toss let alone an important game/more money.
Backroom DE. Posted May 9, 2009 Backroom Posted May 9, 2009 Burnley didn't really deserve to win that, but Reading were crap. If they play like that in the next leg then Burnley will easily reach the final. And a sending off. That was the same defender that gave away the penalty, what a disgrace he is.
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 Yeah, I'm pretty sure Burnley will cruise through now. Too many poor teams around them.
cravenblue Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 as much as i hate to say it i had burnley as the final of my treble with the bookies along with us and stevenage. won £100, just hope now reading can pull it round
sambo Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 I think it was outside the box for the pen!! Bikey, disgrace, yet hilarious. Stomps on Blake then acts as if he did nothing!
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 Burnley didn't deserve that they were crap and looked a bag of nerves.....only half time folks. Don Goodman..."well its took untill the 89th minute, but we finally have an atmosphere!" BTW Samdingle, your a one off indeed...a Burnley fan who doesn't like to shout off about how they are the best supported club in the world?!?
