yorky this link might work. I meant IF you go up your wages will increase. My original point was IF you go up it could cost the club a lot of money. As for the going for the cheaper option what is the point, IF you go up to bigger and far better standard of football why get rid of your better players and go for less?. it"s like going from Big Sam and Sparky to Ince It's not nice. As for the Landlord comment it was tongue in cheek but do the club own the ground and training ground, as i understand it the two directors paid off some debt the club had and used the ground and training ground as a type of insurance. If this is not the Case I stand corrected.

Well done Sam! Took 7 hours of queuing to get my ticket, (4 by me, then my mate took over for the last 3) you get one that easy!

Jodrell, that link works, while high finance is a little out of my league, I am not too worried about what it says. Most clubs run at a loss with Directors pumping in their hard earned to keep it going. £1.8 Million is a lot less then we have been losing in previous years. Modus, as a property based company is suffering a bit in this ecconomic climate, as are many, probably most, similar companys.

The high earners I was refering to are not our better players, Ade was great first time around, but his return was a costly mistake, Alan (sicknote) Mahon is another whose wage will soon be off our books. IF we go up I would still expect us to be cautious about buying players, the infastructure should be the top priority imo.

You are right that the property is not owned by the club, I am unable to say for sure the motive of the buyers, probably only themselves and their accountants know that! I would say, that if a club was ever to go into addministration, if it ownes its own ground, that property could be sold to Tescos to pay off the debt, however they can't sell off what the club doesn't own.

Let us hope that Nob End do the business and beat Sheff United tonight, Reading over turn their decifit by 2 clear goals tomorrow and set up a final between the 2 sides, with Nob End winning the final. Maybe we will then be able to get rid of all the Dingles that have been polluting our forums of late. Not that I can understand why any of them have signed up to a Rovers forum! Doesn't bare thinking about having our knuckle dragging friends in argubaly the greatest league on Earth.

Agreed, but why would any Rovers fan want PNE to go up either?

It's like a ManUre fan wanting Citeh to win the European Cup!

There are more rovers fans around this part of Lancashire, who would want PNE to fail, rather than Burnley.

I cant understand the '' hate'' between the two clubs and as an ardent Rovers fan I will be cheering on Burnley to do well in the play off's and do what PNE cant seem to do, and get another NW club in the Premiership.

Not being funny but if you are an ardent Rovers fan then you'd understand the hate between the 2 clubs and would never cheer Burnley on !

I reckon it depends a lot on where you live/grew up. Growing up in Whalley I don't remember anyone really giving a monkey's about PNE one way or the other. It was all about our shoeless cousins over Pendle way :)

A lot of hate there Abbey. I like that, I wouldn't change it either.

Personally, I struggle to muster much enthusiasm for PNE. Irritation is probably the strongest emotion they stir in me.

I grew up in the Fenny area of Livesey Branch Road during the sixties, and Burnley was a town that had very little impact, very rarely visited the other side of Blackburn Accrington Burnley etc more Bolton and Preston in those days, now I rarely get back to the North of England but when I do I always go down to Ewood.

Nob End would be a good day out. Rather have a Lancashire team in the big time than a Tyke or Southern team!

I dont understand the hate either but have only been supporting Rovers for 15 years and dont live in Blackburn. We have simply not played them enough in that time for me to to feel anything about them. The couple of times we did play them we beat them. Give me something worthy of my spleen like Man U, or Chelsea. However I did enjoy the atmosphere the last time we played them. The pubs were full on the day. I had to make a long journey take an afternoon off work and queue twice round Ewood park to get a ticket. I hope either Burnley or PNE goes up

Guest Wen Y Hu
Wen Y Hu lives with his parents, wears a lot of black and knows the name of every minor character in the Star Wars films.

A pleasure indeed to make your acquaintance, Your Dingleness, Mr SamDingle. And a riposte to stop any and all in their tracks. Congratulations indeed. :brfcsmilie:

Except, you might need reminding that Sir Arthur Conan Doyle is a giant of literature... That's books to you. You know, the written tradition rather than, say, the oral tradition. I understand you find it difficult over there to conceive of the written tradition, though the tradition of oral conception is well established, I hear. Dinglesprogs sprouting forth from every orifice.

Oooerr, just come over all funny - 'tis the black stockings, I tell you. On that score, I have to concede: your presumptions are quite right.

And, Yoda, don't be so rash in your presumptions, please - it all starts when I come off the medication!!

That is exactly why then! Believe me, you have to live in one of the two towns to understand how fierce the rivalry actually is. It isn't just a football point of view, it is much, much more than that.

True. Lots of the football-hating folks I know can't stand Burnley (club and town).

It's a part and parcel of football in all fairness. Every team in the country has a rival of some sorts, some people hate a few teams. There's only Burnley that I hate - although I do dislike a few teams - and I always will do, just like they'll always hate us.

Why though - what's the point? Seriously.

What positive upshot is there in your life from hating Burnley or Burnley fans? Is your life better in any way at all because of your hatred for Burnley? I personally can't think of any.

When you meet someone and you find out they're a Burnley fan, does that immediately mean that you hate them? Do you feel the need to hate that person simply because they come from a particular town and so follow a particular football club, even if they are a perfectly decent person in every other respect?

I'll be coming up to 40 in a couple of years, I've been a Rovers fan all my life, I went to school in Blackburn and, the odd wander aside, have lived in or around Blackburn all that time. As a younger lad I used to have a dislike for all things Burnley. As I've got older though I've started to think more and more that what exactly is the point? As far as I can see it serves absolutely no purpose whatsoever.

Burnley and Blackburn are similar sized towns, with a fairly similar history; industrial greatness and then massive decline (with a large immigrant population). Both are incredibly proud and successful footballing towns for their size. We share the same hospitals, local paper and postcode amongst many other things. Our lads have fought and distinguished themselves together in the armed forces over many years (it was the East Lancashire regiment who bravely fought the rearguard action at Dunkirk to help prevent the Nazis reaching the evacuation on the beaches). Most importantly though the majority of lads I've met over the years from Burnley are just decent honest blokes - just the same as blokes from Blackburn - there's the odd nob-end of course but that's no different than Blackburn.

So what is the point in hating Burnley? What has Burnley done / does that makes you hate them? For me 40 years is certainly a long time to hate something for no apparent reason. I’m not bringing my lad up hating Burnley for no apparent reason either.

Or is all this just a flashback moment from Monroes, peaking on doves circa 1990

Anyway, I for one sincerely hope Burnley go up - although it has to be said not least for the tenner I put on it at 20/1 before the season kicked off!
