So, just so we are clear. It is Rovers fans who are thugs and go around beating up other supporters, not Burnley fans?

Thanks for clearing that up for me SG - I still remember being chased as a child by a gang of Rovers supporting 'men' with a view to them giving me a good kicking so I have always suspected that was the case.

As opposed to the bricks etc coming over the wall on the back of the old Longside eh Longsiders

Works both way - got the 'offering' of taking on one at the Turd on many of our ventures in the pre season Lancs Cup some seasons back when not surprisingly another 10 or so appeared from behind a wall then they chose to attack our car - not surprisingly my Brother decided to have a game of 'ten man bowling'.

Its not just Bunleh or Rovers though, it happens at every club throughout the land the 'derby' tag just enhances everything - every club has its fair share.

Funnily enough the most amount of trouble I have seen has tended to be when Wanky or Utd are about - United as per the following probably have the largest hooligan/numpties following going - yet surprise surprise they never seem to get any bad press on it imo.

There are exceptions to this 'hatred' rule, but it's only really understood by people who've grown up in these towns and went to football before Sky turned up.

It is nonsensical, ridiculous and stupid but I'm too far gone now. Anyway, I quite enjoy it.

Don't believe 'em, don't believe 'em, cos it's all a pack of lies

If it weren't for B***ard Rovers this would be a paradise.

Come on Burnley!!

just about sums up the dingle mind set, Burnley would be a paradise if the Rovers did not exist, take a look out of your cave knuckle dragger

also, thanks for the confirmation that we still own you!

:P

Easy tiger, just make sure you don't steal another of our songs.

Barmy Army is fine for you guys.

I've never had a problem with Bumley fans.

Went to school with many, went to bumley games now and again, and bumley fans came with me to Ewood.

It seems the angst of both sets of fans transpired after 1969.

Yes, there was banter, yes, it was getting one over the opposition, but never violence.

Yes, the "Barmy Army" thing is terrible and you are right to point that out. There is the odd gem like the Rovers version of the Inpiral Carpets classic -

"This is how it feels to be Burnley,

this is how it feels to be sad,

this is how it feels when you sister's s******* your Dad"

Never heard that one - now that is very funny and at least it makes sense, unlike your mums your dad, your dads your mum etc

Exactly Mark.

Nah, Get them in the final, spend all that money going to London (not many Dingles have been out of East Lancs) then get knocked out on pens. Owen Coyle to go to the likes of Portsmouth in the summer, and the Dingles to go back into obscurity....

No seriously - I want them to get to the final. It would be much greater heartbreak at that stage than it is now.

I don't want them getting all the extra money that would entail or getting to the new Wembley before us.

I don't "hate" Burnley or PNE, they're Lancashire Clubs from similar sized towns to us but in another era they were our rivals and I just don't want them doing well. The worse the better.

I would say I certainly "hate" Man Utd. and increasingly clubs like Liverpool and City but that's another issue.

I don't mind Man Utd as much now, the scoucers are the worse of the lot. Man Utd are class and they are the best team in Britain (honest, I'm Rovers through and through), but Liverpool? who the hell do they think they are? That crazy Spanish waiter of a manager doesn't do them any favours either.

I'd like to see PNE do well, they are a similar club to us. As for the Dingles, I wouldn't lose any sleep if they went out of business tomorrow. They hate us with a passion, I call it jealousy as the current generation of fans do not remember the real rivalry. For that reason I really dislike the lot of them. They're a strange breed that Burnley lot....

Looking forward to the game tonight, I'm going with Mr Andrew Payton should be a great night.

I can see the Clarets edging this one 2 nil, to make it 3 on agg.

It will be fun beating the Blades at Wembley also.

It should be amsuing to see BFS resorting to hoofing balls up the pitch to Samba when we play you next year.

Congratulations on reaching 40 points by the way, I think it's a great acheivement for the current rovers squad.

Well done son, it seems your trying to have a pop at your superiors...

I'd like to point a few things out Mr. Dingle...

1. This season the mighty Dingles have scored 72 goals against the likes of Plymouth, Blackpool & Doncaster. You have also conceded a massive 60 goals against the same classy sides. If you were to be promoted to the Premier League next season, you can expect to score half as many goals if you are lucky, and probably concede twice as many! What a prospect that is!!!

2. The Premier League IS NOT like the FA Cup, you are up against top opposition every week. Your squad will soon tire and realise that they are in for a relegation scrap.

3. Most teams would welcome you to the Premier League as then every one team every week will have a rest and show boat for 90mins!!!

4. Remember last time we played you in the league? you scored how many against us? you Dingles can count on one hand how many we scored against you over the two games...

5. If you are promoted be ready to trash your own town centre again... on a weekly basis!

I've got friends in Basingstoke (a Chelsea fan and an arsenal fan) who are going to the Reading game tonight on the strength of them liking the Rovers through their links with me!!! They both try to come to a couple of other Rovers home games a season as well as Chelsea and Arsenal as they love the 'little club' atmosphere and can always have a good drink!!! Good on them for getting behind Reading for us tonight.

Took me a while to get that :lol:

It's o.k, the Dingle is still thinking about that one...

Took me to read your comment T4E and a bit more of a while. Classic, unluckymorton!

And an excellent summary of why we would want the Dingles in the Premiership. Quality entertainment every week for an entire season.

Looking forward to you going down already. Even if you do lose out in the play-offs.
