Lets hope if they have to come up we can play them at Ewood on boxing day.

Nicko can you let Coyle know we have a up and coming Irish left winger with Prem experience going for a mere 3-4 million.

Put them against second tier opposition and they probably would.

Coventry?

Congratulations, Burnley. I have no idea how good the team is but their achievements have been admirable this season - and will be amazing if they get into the Prem.

Can't be bothered with the bigoted sniping. I know I'm not from that part of the world but I still think that it's valid of me to propose good relations between Rovers and Burnley.

I'm not from Sri Lanka but is it outrageous for me to say that both sides should stop killing (even if it is completely ineffective of me to say so)?

He is indeed.

He has worked wonders with a thin squad and managed to convert them into favourites for promotion.

Still, 6 points next season guaranteed for t'Rovers eh Alan?!

3rd favourates... ;) 1st place (auto). 2nd place (auto). 3rd place (playoffs)

Nicko isn't it about time you gave us some good news. Im craving for it...

Coventry?

Rovers reserves did struggle against them. Play a first team in a league game and it would have been a far different result, but Coventry will not be back soon so that won't happen.

Dingles are well drilled but the pressure will get to them and they have used up there special finishes tonight.

Just after the match they showed a Dr. Pepper advert.

Eerily appropriate.

"What's the worst that can happen?"

We all know the answer to that.

I have even heard the view expressed that some would rather see us down if they come up.

In my mind's nose I can already smell the cheap plastic merchandise I'll be surrounded with here in enemy territory for weeks and maybe months to come............

ps I haven't read the whole thread but assume the point has been made about Riley, who I think worked in Burnley, being the referee.

Yes it is completely ineffective, it's called a rivalry (as seen in many parts of the world in various sports) and nothing to do with "bigotry" as you mention in your signature which is only seen in a handful of these (ie Celtic vs Rangers). Having fierce rivals is a major part and parcel of following a team and it doesn't matter what level they're on as can be seen in United/City and various other examples. Being nice to them would take that side of following Rovers away, why would we want to do that?

Whilst I always want us to beat our rivals, part of me also wants to be able to play them. It would add two cracking games to the season and it would be nice to have so long as we beat them home and away.

Let's hope Sheff Utd. do us a favour and the Dingles remain the historical irrelevance they have been for the last generation or so.

Exactly. At least one of the few good posters on here understands what the "new Blackburn Rovers" is and what premier league mentality stands for.

Exactly. Would be excellent to beat Man United home and away next season.

I think the fact there has been meltdown over your Dingle pals getting to within 90 minutes of the Premier tells you all you need to know.

The rivalry would be superb in the top flight.

And if Coyley gets any money the pair of you could stay up.

Would you rather have some no-marks from Berkshire to face or Sheffield United's long-ball hoofers?

Behave.

Happy days are not far away.

No surpise to see Abbey and friends demanding sendings off.

The ref did make a mistake - he gave a free kick and then indicated to the Reading players the ball had hit the keepers arm. In turth it was accidental and therefore not a free kick.

We were under the cosh first half but Reading created very few clear chances. Second half was a different prospect and we deservedly won the game.

As for the final. Once again we are the underdogs. No doubt SHeff Utd will turn us over but we will still get to the new Wembley before you do :) - and we have just beaten them so we have a glimmer of hope.

As for next season, in the unlikely event we go up? Ah well if we were to only win 2 games I'll be happy to smash Sunderlands (I think its still them) record low points total.

I hope they win the final - we will destroy them, just like the majority of the league will. Some of their sh!tbag fans actually think they could beat us. Ha yeah ok!

They will be an embarassment - BRING IT ON!!

No its Derby. longsider.

And let me say that I am looking forwards to renewing just about the longest standing and deepest felt mutual rivalries in football when you lot are back in the top flight. You'll beat the blades, no sweat.

You would need to stay up three seasons before you remotely became a serious rival to Rovers. If what I read is correct, abut £10m will exit from your first £30m to meet old commitments to repay your Directors- I don't now whether you get your ground and training ground back for that. Then you will be about another £2m down with the free season tickets.

The balance will then need to be spent between paying your existing players and management a higher proportion of the PL average wage than the 10 to 20% they get at the moment and spending on incoming players whom if they have Premier League experience (which your team is virtually 100% without), will want Premier League wages.

The real fun will start when a PL club or two have a sniff at the likes at Patterson this summer without necessarily even making a bid.

Coyle will have no money to spend. The club's backer Brendan Flood is reported by the Guardian last week to be close to bankrupt as his property businesses are put into liquidation. The money he put into the club will be coming back out. Whether it's a fire sale of players or snaffling the Sky money depends on which league they're in next season. Apart from that Turd More is a ramshackle 1970s construction that needs squillions spent on it.

What's the old saying _ "Beware of getting what you wish for "- or words to that effect. Plenty in Hull wishing they hadn't bothered right now.

It's not a done deal yet but Owen Coyle has a far better idea of how to spend money than most.

He will be in the Premier League.

It's just a matter of time.

You're just unfortunate that the best young manager in Britain is on your doorstep.

Interesting to see that at least three of the play off teams failed to sell out their home tickets, very suprised, dont know if the fourth Sheff United did.

Its a pity Beattie isnt still playing for Sheffield United then at least we'd be gauranteed Burnley not going through, now it seems almost nailed on for the claret clampits.

Just got back from Madjeski, and without reading what has been written, here are my observations:

Well played to the supporters, one of the best away crowds I've ever seen. I'm guessing you don't think you can beat Sheffield, though. No other reason to explain the couple of times you were singing "No, Nay, Never."

Terrible crowd for Reading, numbers wise. Thought they were in good voice the first half, though.

Can Burnley have a big match without someone going onto the pitch?

Terrible tactics by Reading. The Burnley left back (didn't catch his name) keeps getting beaten badly down the Reading right flank, so what do the Royals do in the second half? Attack down the left the entire time.

What was wrong with Stephen Hunt that he didn't start?

I think we'll see the current Reading squad broken up a little more this summer - Hunt should definitely be gone. Coppel will be lucky to keep his job after the way they died at the end of the season and the playoffs.

It was ok, good when they scored, but shouldn't it be when they're doing better than any other time in their lives and are on their way to Wembley through 2 brilliant goals?

I'd rather not have another team from Lancashire in the top flight. We struggle enough for fans, no need to worsen the situation.

Apart from them being Burnley I actually like Coyles team - inventive, intelligent, good passing and movement.

Problem is they are not physically in the same bracket as the average prem player. Good footballing teams have not been able to stay up in the prem in the last four years or so. You need to be physical - West Brom and Derby are a prime examples of not addressing the solidarity of the team.

I think Burnley will struggle if they do come up unless they have the sort ofmoney Sunderland did to throw around.
