Gav Posted May 17, 2009 Author Posted May 17, 2009 Had a number of pictures of banners placed on bridges down the M65 when we last played in the same league, can't seem to find them now though.
Hughesy Posted May 17, 2009 Posted May 17, 2009 I cant understand why so many local, non burnley fans are going to this game???? There are 44 people going from the golden cup next monday, mainly all rovers fans - why?!?!
longsiders1882 Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 We could be like you, while fighting for promotion singing that we won't be playing our rivals who are in the division we're trying to get promoted to. I'll be honest, I'm slightly too young to be aware of the full history of 'no nay never' but I believe it was first sang after your goodselves got relegated. At that time it was sang as 'will we play'. These days it tends to be sung as ''till we play'. There are plastic fans at every club...they always come out when there is a trophy won or a cup final in the offing..they truly are the biggest dicks in the universe... There are - there also lots of fans who cannot make a lot of games, who cannot afford to attend all the time these days etc. Also there are many (for us, you and most clubs I guess) who are fans but only casually so. They'll keep an eye on results, want the club to do well but only really go on when there's something at stake. Either way, as another poster said, rather that than face the embarrasment of not selling all/most you allocation. And on the subject of sales. Nobody seems sure jus how many have actually been sold. The text I got from the club said the initial allocation had all been sold but that they hoped to have more available early this week. I'm not clear whether that means we have sold the 36,000 and are getting more or that we have only initially taken part of the 36,000 and are now getting the rest. Either way there will be a good Claret support down there, we will have a great day out and should the expected happen then I hope we will all look back on what has been a very enjoyable season. Congratualtions on surviving for another year. In the event that we do manage the miracle I'll be glad you are still in that division. Whatever my thoughts and feelings and however much I might enjoy watching things go wrong for you the truth is I'd rather play 2 games against you every season than any other team in world football.
dave birch Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 Indeed, Longsiders, those that go way back, want games against Bumley. Win or lose, they are always nailbiters even though the game might be bog ordinary

Win or lose, they are always nailbiters even though the game might be bog ordinary Spot on Dave! personally I am drooling in anticipation of the Dingles joining us ....... even if it Will only be for one season. So as I think I have said once or twice before........ "COME ON YOU CLARETS!!!" By that I really mean: "come and get what's coming to you next season"
CAPT KAYOS Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 Spot on Dave! personally I am drooling in anticipation of the Dingles joining us ....... even if it Will only be for one season. Wish you hadn't said that Fife - given our predicament , regardless of what Bunleh do that could easily come back and bite you on the derrier

I absolutely agree, it's not those who can only manage a couple of matches due to finacial constrates that I have a problem with...Ther are a lot who only come out when there is the possibilty of a trophy or a cup final I can't stand...Just ask the Bolton season ticket holders athat could not get tickets to their league cup final a couple of years ago...If it improves your membership and attendances fair enough, but failure at the play off final and they won't be at turf Moor next season...I am still not sure if I want you to win next week or not...one part of me wants the derby back, another part does not want you to get the revenue that being in the premier league will give you...One things for sure, expect a capacity sell out if you do it...

There are 44 people going from the golden cup next monday, mainly all rovers fans - why?!?! Which end are thay in? I hope its with Sheff or it'll kick off. The last place I'd wwant to be if they lose is in their end if they know that you are from BwD.
Hughesy Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 Not sure - but I think Sambo also mentioned some of his mates were going to the game too. Seems like quite a few are going who dont even support Burnley - why?!!?
berkshireblue Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 Hughesy The Golden Cup on the Bolton Rd? Cant understand why 40 of them would go - baffling
JAL Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 Hughesy The Golden Cup on the Bolton Rd? Cant understand why 40 of them would go - baffling I'll check on this, but on the Oakdale estate there are at least four seperate families with Burnley links that I know of who go in the Golden cup, so this number might have been extended due to friends and family not necessarily from the Golden cup or Blackburn in fact.
longsiders1882 Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 Turns out there are still some season ticket holders who have not taken their alloted tickets - and the club are still holding onto them. http://www.burnleyfootballclub.com/page/La...1657410,00.html Quite why they would wish to do this I'll never know. Season ticket holders have had plenty of time to get their tickets - Jeez the general sale ones had all gone within about 5 hours.

Hughesy Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 Hughesy The Golden Cup on the Bolton Rd? Cant understand why 40 of them would go - baffling Apparently so. I heard the landlady 'Linda' was putting breakfast on for 44 of them before they set-off. Whether or not its true, I dont know. I do however know of at least 8 people going (4 of which are ex-rovers season ticket holders).
waggy Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 living in a village were the support of rovers and bumley has always been 50/50 you will be suprised to hear many roverites are thinking/going to watch the dingles at wembley.i had to have stern words with one i know personally yesterday to tell him the errors of his way.
waggy Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 Take a look in the mirror and tell yourself the errors of your own ways while you're at it... what are they then
DanLad Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 Nevermind banners on the motorway... ...is anyone arranging a flyover of Wembley?
T4E Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 "I think we should organise it!!" Ha ha.. it's Groundhog Day. You ain't doing s**t, as usual. Maybe you could come down and form a line along Wembley Way, with your jester hats on, furiously chanting Barmy Army. That'll show us. You could bring that hermaphrodite cheerleader along too. And the fat spakker with the drum. I know I shouldn't like you, but I do.
CAPT KAYOS Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 many roverites are thinking/going to watch the dingles at wembley. Conversely - I know of the reverse with Claret fans who went watching Rovers at Wembley (Charlton and Leicester)
Ossydave Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 I know quite a few non-clarets going too for the day out, not all Rovers fans though, a mix from Man U to Rovers and the bulk of the Accy Stanley. Know of at least 10 Stanley going. Wouldn't dream of it myself although I'll admit I'm quite looking forward to the game.
Al Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 I keep trying to convince myself that having the Dingles in the same league as us would be a good thing. Two real derbies each season and all that BUT deep down I want them to be stuffed by Sheffield (who should never have been relegated). I want to see them humiliated and always be in a league below us. I also do not want them to get any money from the Premier League. Sorry guys I have tried but I can't bring myself to do it. Come on the Blades!

Ossydave Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 It's a win-win situation now I think. Dingles lose - just another reason to mock them. Dingles win - 2 proper derby games to look forward to, and 6 more points in the bag.
