Paul Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 Are you joking, Abster? Are you genuinely and constitutionally unable to recognise any merit in Burnley FC and their travails? No he's serious. I say congratulations to Burnley. I know how elated their fans are today, isn't that why we do it, for that rare moment of joy? Good luck to Burnley until we stuff them in the semis or the final.

Bobby G Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 We are two matches away from a cup final...This is an opportunity. If the boys can rise up tonight for this, and Ince guides them through, it could be the turning point. Defeat, and I say GOODBYE to the current management team.
Hughesy Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 Im praying we can win tonight and then get the Dingles in a two-tie Semi. It will be great! We can beat them Home and Away and then hopefully also win the final.

On what evidence do you base this Hughesy last season, the season before that or over the past thirty years, what about looking at the state we are currently in. They are far more organised than we are you only had to watch last nights game to see.
Claytons Left Boot Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 The worst thing is that, if we were to play them in the semi final at say Old Trafford, they would sell around 30k tickets and with the current apathy surrounding Ewood park, we would be lucky to shift 15k. Anyway, I don't think we'll be faced with that problem.

Sysagent Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 Grrrrr... Played Dingles, my live is gonna be Hell in Harwood now if we don't get through, it's bad enough as it is with our current plumbum status in the Premier League. God help us if they come up and we go down!
JAL Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 Grrrrr... Played Dingles, my live is gonna be Hell in Harwood now if we don't get through, it's bad enough as it is with our current plumbum status in the Premier League. God help us if they come up and we go down! One things for sure the atmosphere generated last night on the tiny turf was non existant with just a few mumurings of 'we are Burnley' and 'no nay never' for a very very short period sung by just a few.
longsiders1882 Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 LOL The Dingles have France in the Cup, they are going to get absolutely stuffed out of site by their youngsters. "Just what the doctor ordered" Honestly a flukey win and they think they are it :D watch Le Arse tear em apart Would Sir like a cloth to wipe the egg from his face? Have to give credit where its due they have given Arsenal and Chelsea a hard game and deservedly beat both sides. They have beaten 3 premier league teams, the same amount we have in our league campaign so far Fantastic stat that, thank, brightened my day. No he's serious. I say congratulations to Burnley. I know how elated their fans are today, isn't that why we do it, for that rare moment of joy? Good luck to Burnley until we stuff them in the semis or the final. And that my friends is the truth. We may not be glamorous or even good but last night is exactly why you follow real football teams. Thanks for the kind words guys, I know it aint easy for most of you so they are much appreciated. Not sure I fancy your chances against Man U tonight - then again I didn't really fancy ours against Chelsea or Arsenal. Football, especially cup football has an amazing capacity to surprise. How good would a Rovers/Burnley final be? Talk about bragging rights AND a route into Europe for the winner?
jim mk2 Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 Congratulations to Burnley. Any Lancashire town team that wipes the smile off the faces off smart-arse, smug, ignorant, limp-wristed metropolitan types and their cronies in the media is OK with me. Hate to say it but because of a combination of good management at Turf Moor and incompetance in the Rovers boardroom the 25-year wheel of East Lancs footballing fortune is turning in our beloved neighbours' favour.

Hate to say it but because of a combination of good management at Turf Moor and incompetance in the Rovers boardroom the 25-year wheel of East Lancs footballing fortune is turning in our beloved neighbours' favour. It is indeed a frighteningly real prospect. Anyway no chance of us meeting Burnley in the semis, I hope they get a soft draw, its the least they deserve after playing 3 top half Premier League clubs to get there. Fantastic performance last night from them and one, I'm ashamed to say, we could not emulate at this time. Congratulations to them.
tony gale's mic Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 Come on lads, I agree we should be gracious and congratulate them on their win, but no soft draws please! The sight of Burnley in a Wembley final the season we're getting relegated would be too much to stomach.
Sandiway Blue Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 Come on lads, I agree we should be gracious and congratulate them on their win, but no soft draws please! The sight of Burnley in a Wembley final the season we're getting relegated would be too much to stomach. Especially the thought of our knuckle-dragging friends being able to boast about being first to the new wembley. EDIT: btw congrats to the dingles for last night,i honestly thought that Arsene`s kids would stuff them!
A cup of beans Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 Especially the thought of our knuckle-dragging friends being able to boast about being first to the new wembley. the nightmare scenario is, man utd to beat us, and burnley to draw derby in the 2 legged semi final!
Claytons Left Boot Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 Last night I said to my daughter's boyfriend, a Rovers fan, that Burnley would beat Arsenal and United would beat us. They would then draw each other in the SF.

almuncle Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 .....and the lottery numbers on Saturday are? Wait to see whether we lose first -he's only half right so far.
Billy Castell Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 I actually envy Burnley. Who do they think they are with their competent manager and their wins against big 4 teams?
ABBEY Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 Are you joking, Abster? Are you genuinely and constitutionally unable to recognise any merit in Burnley FC and their travails? American Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 Kind of like my grandfather was born and bred to hate people from a particular area - Africa.
Gav Posted December 4, 2008 Author Posted December 4, 2008 Every cloud has a silver lining. Whilst the burnley fans revel in the only bit of glory to come their way since the goggle box was broadcasting in black and white, you'll be pleased to know that despite our current relegation fears, you can rest assured that the annual burnley free fall is nearly upon us.
