I was very disappointed with his attitude on Saturday though. He didn't look interested at all.

I know this is probably in the Nicko thread somewhere but just thought I'd bump this thread back up to the top.

I'm a bit puzzled about Derbyshire going to Greece - it is unusual transfer to say the least.

I thought he would've gone on loan in the Championship.

I don't think it is such a bad thing as it will be a good experience for him, but if he doesn't play regularly it is all a bit pointless to go abroad there.

Will he be elligable to play in the UEFA Cup does anyone know?

Yes he is elligible - bonus from Brum 4 Rovers 1

He wanted to play at a team facing decent opposition quite often and operating at a top level.

Makes far more sense to Matty and Rovers than having to be booed by the dingles on a wet Tuesday night.

Good idea to bump the thread up so we can discuss the move and track his progress.

I was a bit shocked to see him move, especially to Greece .

I personally think Matty has the talent, a natural finisher with some decent pace and good movement. I think he has stagnated at the club due to not playing week in week out, he needs to bulk up a bit in my view as well.

Overall this a great opportunity for Matty to get some games under his belt and settle once and for all whether or not he has a future here. From what i gather there is no future fee set, so if he does well there he could come back.

I hope Derbs does well in greece.

He's a local lad, doesn't moan or sulk about being left out of the squad.

I hope his loan move gives him the confidence and first team experience he needs. Kind of like Beckham when he went to PNE in his early days.

Athens was pretty constantly hit by snow throughout January and February 2008.

15 cm of snow in city centre, Athens Airport closed and temperatures of -15 in Greece.

I was disappointed to see Derbs go to Greece on loan and then hear Diouf is coming the other way. I would have Derbs in my squad before any numpty player such as Diouf.

I hope he proves to Big Sam that given a long run in the first Xi will bring goals and consistant performances.
