And Gordon was right. Ince is was and is an ego. He hasn't matured.

Huge faux pas shown on Sky, when Mr Ince was being presented to the press by JW in the summer. JW says 'we are not in the bottom 3...'

PI laughs, taps JW on the shoulder and interrupts '..not yet.'

Ok, im going to put this simply.

I think that if we dont spend the money we SHOULD have from selling Bentley and the transfer funds we were meant to have in the summer then we are relegated plain and simple.

If we sell Roque, and dont hand over that money and a little bit more then i dont think were coming back up next season if were relegated...:(

I really don't know what happens now - it's too early today yet. Still trying to get my head round what happened yesterday.

Hang on, you said in your story that Ince WOULD be replaced after the Liverpool game regardless of the result.

You can't now backtrack having caused all this commotion!!!!

Does this mean the rest of the story is complete rollocks as well??

Perhaps he (Souness) was stunned that it was made "public"? JW going off past dealings is pretty secretive and carries out his job professionally. I don't think Souness was stunned in that he didn't know about it.

And why did this all end up coming from Sunderland? I don't think I follow this at all.

This is a tricky one.

I didn't want Ince, because of his lack of experience, but I wished him well and wanted/want him to succeed for the good of Rovers.

However, if the Mirror story is true, it seems the board are looking to make a decision before the transfer window opens.

Souness lost it last time round at the end. Not sure this is a good move.

I wanted some role for Tugay in the summer, but under a proper, experienced manager.

BFS. Didn't want him at all in the summer, although I conceded that he would almost certainly do a decent job for us. Safe pair of hands, etc, but it still doesn't inspire me.

Perversely, I'd now love Ince to get enough points from the next 3 games to make the job his for the season. If he can get through this it could be the making of him.

True the club should have been making statements but equally the club should be sounding out replacements before making a decision. The real villan in this overnight story is the "senior Sunderland official" who can't keep his mouth shut or has a liking for brown envelopes. If this bloke is a senior Sunderland official with such a loose mouth one has to question how or why he ever reached his position?

If there is any truth in these latest rumours, is it not a lot more likely that any leak came from our end in a cynical and calculated attempt to push Ince into resigning - thereby avoiding the need to pay out compensation?.

Given our previous preference for conducting business discreetly I'm starting to doubt whether we would ever have conducted our business in such a cack handed incompetent and unprofessional manner. Who on earth would ring rival clubs to ask them about their plans whilst divulging our own?

I we won three games in a row and pushed on from there he could stay and I'd support him. Just can't see it the way we're playing.

Some of us have got a game to go to...

Souey was shocked when I ran the story past him last night. He wouldn't comment on it. However I know him well enough to know he would jump at the call. Has he ever said a bad word about the club?

But the timing of yesterday's events is all wrong.

It's not up to me what happens next - you have a chairman and a board for that job.

I can only relay what happened yesterday.

It seems the Mail, Express, Inde and Times had the same information - and from the same source.

This is an absolute mess by the board and once again they have been shown to act indecisively when the pressure is really on. They should have sacked Souness earlier and only the greatest slice of luck this club has had since the day Jack Walker wondered what he should do for a hobby after selling WalkerSteel (and Freddie Shepherd´s stupidity) managed to save us.

Ince should have been sacked after the Sunderland game or at least at the very, very, very latest after the Portsmouth game and Sam Allardyce should be our manager now. If this had been done with any attempt at promptness we would not be in the situation we are in now where we might be losing out on our prime target.

As for thinking about bringing Souness back...I´m sorry but no. There are not many managers I would not infinitely prefer to our present incumbent but Souey is one. Besides it would not be a short-term deal. If he kept us up the club would offer him another deal...we know they would don´t we? They really do not like to have to make change unless forced upon them as we have seen enough times. The days of Jack firing off MacKay, Hogson and Kidd when he started having doubts have long gone. Souness, overall, did well for us but since the 2002-2003 season he has been on a downward spiral and it really is better to leave him as a figure from our past.

I think Ince is manipulating the media as best he can to give himself more time but for once I think he is the one being hard done to by our board. Either back him or sack him...but don´t undermine him by sounding out clubs here and there. They really need to be more decisive.

That said I cannot see Ince resigning. When he leaves the club it will be as a much financially better off man than when he first walked in through the door. Already wealthy admittedly but not many will walk away from millions if they do not need to.

This has all been an absolute shambles since we did not pick the right man in the Summer.

Oh man, Ince just gets worse and worse when talking to the media. Do yourself a favour and shut up will you? You are making yourself look stupid...

Ince - "It just winds me up when every day there is something about Blackburn, Blackburn, Blackburn. Jobs on the line, jobs on the line, jobs on the line. But Joe Kinnear is two points away from me and nobody is mentioning him.

"Nobody is mentioning Harry Redknapp.

It has just been Ince, Keane, Ince, Keane.

"At this point, Kinnear is only two points above us with a team that is worth £70million. We got beat on Wednesday by £40m worth of talent in Tevez and Nani. That was the difference between Manchester United and Blackburn. We scored three goals at Old Trafford, but Tevez scored four."

Unbelievable. Ince thinks there should be more pressure on managers near him in the table...and mentions two whose previous managers have both left the club.

As David Anderson in The Mirror said in response...

"The statistics tell a different story, however. Since Kinnear took over at St James' Park, Newcastle have taken 11 points from nine games, while Blackburn have only managed three.

Redknapp has an even better tally of 13 points from seven games in charge of Tottenham compared to just two points from the same number of fixtures for Ince.

That's the real reason why some of the Blackburn board are beginning to doubt Ince and Rovers are currently on a barren run of nine Premier League games without a win."

This was after Ince had been saying the reason Keane and himself has been getting a hard time is because people were jealous of their success at Man U.

Does he really believe any of the stuff he comes out with?

I'm curious as to the latest rumour. For a long time Rovers had a reputation for keeping things to themselves. Could it be that this is a deliberate leak to flush out interested managers - without actually going behind Ince's back.

I would be surprised if he were to get sacked if we beat Liverpool - but equally I will be surprised if we beat Liverpool.

Souness would be a mistake - unless he were just there to give Tugay time to get his coaching badges and some experience. However - much as I like the guy - I have my doubts about Tugay - after all this is a guy that rarely speaks to the media.

BFS is probably the only choice now - mainly because the pickle we find ourselves in. Maybe Sunderland have pushed Rovers into showing their hand a little sooner than they would have liked ?
