Amo Posted December 7, 2008 Posted December 7, 2008 IF we had a vacancy he'd be a feasible contender BUT I believe it would be a very similar gamble to the one we took when we appointed Ince. It was only last season we were laughing at him and saying he was doing a worse job than Steve Cotterill. My thoughts exactly. People are too quick to jump on the Owen Coyle bandwagon. We need someone we know can do a job in the Premiership.

RibbleValleyRover Posted December 7, 2008 Posted December 7, 2008 The dingles have a great chance of promotion this season so i can't see Coyle being interested.
Hi Mack Posted December 7, 2008 Posted December 7, 2008 Owen Coyle is taking a team in the right direction he probably wouldnt want to manage a team on a rapid decline! Sam Allardyce is the only man for the job at the moment! Alan Curbishley would do at the last option.......both better than ince in my opinion!
Tris Posted December 7, 2008 Posted December 7, 2008 Even if some people have made such comments, what have those comments got to do with the colour of Ince's skin? I've already said Holt is bang out of order for making the connection - which doesn't exist in my opinion.
thenodrog Posted December 7, 2008 Posted December 7, 2008 The dingles have a great chance of promotion this season so i can't see Coyle being interested. Not in favour of Coyle (yet) but have you ever heard of 'killing two birds with one stone'?
1864roverite Posted December 7, 2008 Posted December 7, 2008 I have emailed the little scrote to voice my own personal opinion. Whilst being firmly in the INCE OUT camp, and I have no issues with being so, I cannot recall ANY member or fan retorting a comment relating to his skin colour. O Holt is a complete moron for coming out on such a high profile programme and making his claim. I have asked him to provide evidence of his claim and for him to issue an apology through the media. Last time I wrote him he tried to fob me off, this time, its gone higher to the editor and beyond
yoda Posted December 7, 2008 Posted December 7, 2008 Not in favour of Coyle (yet) but have you ever heard of 'killing two birds with one stone'? Get into em! just asking for permission to talk to him would be enough
Tris Posted December 7, 2008 Posted December 7, 2008 That's not what I asked though. I asked whether you believe that the majority of fans are in favour of keeping Ince. I don't think they are, and I base that on posts and polls on here [i know you don't recognise these], posts on the official m/b, posts in the LT, the starting of Anti Ince chants at Old Trafford and by simply talking to fellow rovers fans. That's my "evidence" Tris. My point is Den, that sitting behind a keyboard, talking in the pub, even emailing the CEO and Chairman means nothing if we can't muster a decent chorus of boos. They have a call to make, and given the exact "evidence" you refer to - I expected Ewood Park to leave them in no doubt.
Iceman Posted December 7, 2008 Posted December 7, 2008 Dare i say it again, no PR in times like these. Its an absolute disgrace, that nobody from the club has yet made any sort of statement. Who the hell is Rovers PR by the way?
1864roverite Posted December 7, 2008 Posted December 7, 2008 My point is Den, that sitting behind a keyboard, talking in the pub, even emailing the CEO and Chairman means nothing if we can't muster a decent chorus of boos. They have a call to make, and given the exact "evidence" you refer to - I expected Ewood Park to leave them in no doubt. tris I wholeheartedly agree with those sentiments but ask your self this. Are the fans so downhearted that they just couldnt be bothered ? I sit and listen to Rev every game at Ewood (when he is there of course !) and I have seen a change in his stance, although I am pretty sure he is loathe to admit it. Yesterday, the game got so bad for Rovers as a team that I just gave in and resigned myself to yet another defeat, despite shouting myself horse. I dont mind arguing the toss with fellow fans, which ultimately happened yesterday, and it is good to air ones view, but for me, like many many others this current demise of all things BRFC is just too sad to even contemplate anymore, its a feel of complete and utter resignation. This is despite the repeated pleas and suggestions from the current manager that his team will put more effort in, that a win is around the corner, that the players are behind the manager. Each and every fan of BRFC KNOWS full well what to expect on the pitch. Players out of position, different formations, inept tactical substitutions, lack of width, lack of creativity, you knw the typ eof things I mean. There has been NO change since we began to hear the excuses and now its a poor excuse that is always on offer. Its a totally sad situation to find ourselves in. I dont totally blame Ince, I dont totally blame his backroom staff and I certainly include the players in the blaming stakes. Rovers fans are a proud and honest bunch, its unique to be a Rover IMO. We have been there and rattled the big boys, we have succeeded against all odds and we have created the type of club that MANY of the so called TOP CLUBS would aspire to in the way the club is run. The issues here though are on when the next plan of action for BRFC is executed and the timing of it would appear to be crucial.
FourLaneBlue Posted December 7, 2008 Posted December 7, 2008 I pointed that out a couple of days ago Nicko. IMO, the club made a conscious decision to spend the extra TV monies on improving contracts, rather than expanding the squad. I remember discussing this with JW quite a while ago - should the club try to run a squad big enough to cover for injuries, or should it try to keep a smaller squad, but with more quality players. I thought then, that a prem club has to have quality for it to have any chance of survival in the top division. So, I couldn't complain at them using sky monies to keep the better players here, rather than allow them to leave for more money elsewhere. Interesting? The problem with that is if ever quality players leave or become less effective with age then they MUST be replaced by other players. We were unlikely to get another Bentley for the same money but we could have got a right winger - not as good - and decent central midfielders to replace Savage and the aging Tugay. We got Andrews and Grella. From what I have seen neither are up to the standard of Tugay or Savage - possibly unfair on injury-hit Grella - and we do not have a right winger anymore. Therefore our actions in the summer have left us with a similar-sized squad and LESS quality...therby making a mockery of what JW was aiming for.
den Posted December 7, 2008 Posted December 7, 2008 My point is Den, that sitting behind a keyboard, talking in the pub, even emailing the CEO and Chairman means nothing if we can't muster a decent chorus of boos. They have a call to make, and given the exact "evidence" you refer to - I expected Ewood Park to leave them in no doubt. OK Tris. Bottom line is that we both want the same outcome, but maybe differ a little, in the way we achieve it.
Wing Wizard Windy Miller Posted December 7, 2008 Posted December 7, 2008 In brief, a list of names was put in about two weeks ago...club not sure they could afford it...Trustees obviously consulted and no money forthcoming just now. That could always change, but that is where it stands at this moment. I would love to know what names were on the list. If Ince is trying to sign some quality, having had time to get his head around the standard required and the board are blocking it, then the board and trustees are a disgrace. If more likely it was a shopping list of ex Liverpool players and championship resjects, then fair play to the board. Nicko, can you elaborate on whether it was a positive list or not????
FourLaneBlue Posted December 7, 2008 Posted December 7, 2008 I've already said Holt is bang out of order for making the connection - which doesn't exist in my opinion. So you are saying people should not post their thoughts just on the off-chance a journalist puts an unjust and malicious spin on it? I agree that name-calling is not the way to go and I do not like to see it on the board - calling other fans gobsh!tes is included in that - but none of any of this is any kind of excuse for what Holt is saying. In no way however does it allow Holt to make such a connection which leads to wonder what point you were trying to make.
BRFC1995 Posted December 7, 2008 Posted December 7, 2008 think the vote shoud be changed from whether you want to keep/sack him to simply do you think he'll be sacked in the next week regardless of whether you want him to be or not. there can't be too many that don't think its only a matter of when not if now. 2nd half of sunderland game was breaking point for me, such a gutless surrender.
BRFC1995 Posted December 7, 2008 Posted December 7, 2008 wonder if ince is watching wba today. west brom currently battering portsmouth without finding the net, just checked stats 5 shots on, 4 off to wba, portsmouth 0,0 in 1st 1/2 hour. think ince has done our oppositions teamtalks for them for the next 5 matches, basically telling the world we should be beating them.
1864roverite Posted December 7, 2008 Posted December 7, 2008 WBA 1-0 up Rovers sink to the bottom like a burnely submarine
bats Posted December 7, 2008 Posted December 7, 2008 Jason Mcateer on Sky sports news saying its crazy that people are calling for ince to be sacked
BRFC1995 Posted December 7, 2008 Posted December 7, 2008 Come on pompey, wba looking miles better than us. Ince has got another thing coming if he underestimates our upcoming fixtures....get the defence right
bob fleming Posted December 7, 2008 Posted December 7, 2008 bob fleming on BRFCS.com says Jason McAteer should take a look the bloody league table.
LeChuck Posted December 7, 2008 Posted December 7, 2008 Jason McAteer was in the same infamous 'Spice Boys' Liverpool team as Ince, he's just sticking up for a mate. McAteer is renowned for being one of the stupidest footballers around anyway, I think we can do without his advice.

He will always be remembered for that
roverfanuk Posted December 7, 2008 Posted December 7, 2008 bob fleming on BRFCS.com says Jason McAteer should take a look the bloody league table. Remind me when were they both at Liverpool? Oh yes... Jason McAteer - 1995-1999 Paul Ince 1997-1999 Not at all bias then. Hey maybe if your nice enough Paul might offer you a job!
modes98 Posted December 7, 2008 Posted December 7, 2008 Jason Mcateer on Sky sports news saying its crazy that people are calling for ince to be sacked I bet he wouldn't be saying that if the new Liverpool manager had them bottom after 16 games.
roverfanuk Posted December 7, 2008 Posted December 7, 2008 Im going to go as far to say, if we are bottom of the table come this evening. Ince should be sacked today! Anyone agree?
