Would Ramos be out of the equation? Im guessing he would be way too expensive and doubt he would come here. Just an appointment like that, and maybe give him 15 to 20 mill to spend would show some ambition. One can but dream i suppose.

Because of the promotion season, the Worthy cup, the 6th place finish, the battle the club showed during the near miss (yes, the near miss wasn't good, but we battled at the end to survive), the fact that Duff and Dunn haven't ever been near as good as they were under him, the fact he was smart enough to replace Curtis with Neill.

He did some great things in the first 3 years or so. After we finished 6th he was absolute rubbish. He then took that form to Newcastle. I have no faith in him whatsoever.Just looking at strikers, he drove Bent and then Cole away, signed a hopeless Yorke and we finished up with Stead, Dickov and Gallagher as our sole strikers. I won't mention central defenders! Many, many more things I could say. Can't believe JW means to compound his first disaster. I'm praying for Allardyce, that's how bad things are.

Although he was treated harshly by Tottenham, i don't think he's then man to help us. If we replace Ince it needs to be with someone who has more Premier League experience. I can't see us sacking Ince yet anyway. Think he'll be given until atleast mid January.

I would choose Allardyce over Souness/Tugay as well, but right now either would be a welcome change.

What about BFS and Tugay?

Announcement to follow on Monday....

Just to let you know Ince is about to be sacked from what Iv heard, There was an emergency meeting this aft an announcement will be made tomorrow. Its official and it is for sure I cant reveal the source as he wants to remain unknown.

Woooooo Hoooooooo! Time for a new manager now.

.......and so we all wait with baited breath.

Do you have total faith in your source?

I've read that the players opinion are split in two. Dunn and his "gang" want Allardyce and Tugay and his "gang" want Souness.

Dunny better hope its not Souness otherwise his career at Rovers could be finished.

If we went with Souness either two things will happen:

- He puts some discipline into the side but at the same time the players respect him. We finish in the lower half of the table but clear of relegation.

- His abrasive personality rubs the key players up the wrong way, there is a lot of infighting and star players decide they want out in January. We get relegated as the team spirit is destroyed.

Souness is too much of a risk for me either the players will take to his personality and methods or they will rebel. If they rebel I think we will get relegated.

Allardyce i am not a fan of as i clearly stated in the next manager thread when Hughes left.

I wouldn't pick either for the manager, though at the end of the day its not my choice.

How much old ground gets covered at times?

BRAD FRIEDEL...for those with short memories, moves were being made for other keepers BEFORE the Villa deal reared its head...I checked with Brad when the stories first came out and he assured me he wanted to stay...there is no bad feeling on his side because in the end HE wanted to move.

Have it your way. But if that is the case then why were we looking for other goalkeepers when there were far far more necessary positions to be filled?

Maybe Brad doesn't have as big an issue with Paul Ince as Paul Ince has with Brad?

I'm sorry, but what difference is it going to make if we scrape a draw or win against Wigan. It's the big games we need to be drawing or winning, not the games against the likes of Wigan.

Eh? It's arguably one of the biggest games of the season now we are in the bottom two.

Nicko is correct that Ince's treatment here has been wrong, quite frankly a disgrace, which most Rovers' fans would not entertain. An outsider reading some of the crap here might make unfavourable conclusions about our supporters.

Give it a rest will you? You are bloody well obsessed.

This is the point that really grates my bones at the moment. In the summer we had a good selection and after some rummaging round the Primark Sale bins chose Ince. To say I was disappointed would be an understatement, I've always backed JW (and will) but yet again I'm left feeling uninspired.

BFS or Souness is that really the best we can get? Seriously thats it. We've gone from having 3-4 good candidates (laudrup, Advocaat, Ten Cate) to this. I had hoped that the removal of Ince would lift my outlook its not and TBH I'm praying our PR department is leading the press a merry dance with candidates (if required).

So we get a win, lucky or otherwise, against Wigan, and PI keeps his job?

That has to be the dumbest thing I have ever heard... the old saying: "one swallow does not a summer make" springs to mind.

Well its past 10am and he isnt gone. Hughesy? I think you have been had. No word has been given that a press conference is going to be called or that the club is going to make a statement?

To be fair, Nicko implied it'd probably be today rather than tomorrow that Ince would be gone, and Ozzie heard he'll be relieved of his duties "this week". I'm not doubting Hughesey's information, but he's only confirming what two others have heard/wrote.

Gérard Houllier is still currently out of a job ain't he?

Brilliant youth policy and a hell of a footballing brain... Just what Rovers need at the moment in my opinion.

(Don't know if his heart could handle the pressure though again in the Premier League)

I posted that ^ in the Sam thread but stuck it in here as well due to the spread of manager talk in all the threads about here atm.

Peter Reid has let it be known that he has a get out clause in his current contract.

We could do a lot worse
